I am a candle. Everyday, i give light to the needy whn they try to finish their daily chores in their electricity-less life... Or to the hopeful who lit me infront of their Almighty with loads of hopes in their eyes..
One fine day, i saw her.. That was the day whn the person she had loved the most in her life told her dat he doesnt love her anymore.. He is in love wth somebody else.. I saw her slowly becoming a walking dead body.. She was only breathing while her mind & her heart had gone numb! Oh! She was so grief-stricken and if only my flame cud give her some rays of hope.. i wud hav burnt myself down for her.. if only!
Long time after i saw her last, i saw him! Like Prince Charming, he rode into her life.. He stood between her & her grief like the mighty Himalayas.. And then one day, he realized that he had fallen in love wth her!! Yes, i was thr that day to witness the glow on his face! His eyes were giving it away.. They were saying it all!!
But he had to struggle.. Through lots of insecurities, through lots of hurdles, he had to sail his love. But he did it, he did it wth lots of patience & lots of understanding...
He and she finally got married. Being his, she forgot all her grief and her wounded heart slowly started healing.. She became happier and prettier day by day.. But she was yet to become completely his.. Her past still lingered at the back of her mind & she cud nt return him the love that he gave her.. I was standing & witnessing all these.. Can't forget the night whn, with lots of hope, he lit me.. All dat i cud see in his eyes was.. dreams of making her his.. completely! But fate had something else in store.. She was still not ready! He came to me & said, "My love has to wait.. it has to pass some more tests. Sorry, had to keep you burning". He then blew me off trying to reduce my burning.. My heart broke for him.. Wanted to tell him that my burning is nothing compared to his.. How i wish i cud light up her heart for him that day.. How i wish... Oh! How i wish!!
Days and nights passed and one fine day.. For no reason whatsoever, she realized that she is in love wth him!! Oh! How happy was i thinking how happy he wud be whn he wud come to knw about it!!
Hurdles again came in their way and she jst cud nt say it out to him! Oh! How i hated to keep him waiting!! But finally, she said it, she said those magical words to him!! You should hav seen him dat day.. He was happiness personified! Actually, both of them were!!
Tonite, i sit, all lit up & glowing.. My head held high & my heart full of contentment!! Whn he was lighting me today, he was telling me, "Be there tonite". She came to him looking like a petal of rose herself.. He took her hand in his and kissed it.. They held on to each other tight, their heart beating against each other.. fast!
Yes, i was there all nite witnessing him and her becoming one.. Anandi and Shiv becoming AnSh.. figuratively and symbolically!!
