Ah well, apologies, I shouldn't have left it that way.
It's Shiv's character that is beginning to confuse me.
Somehow I had started understanding this story as Shiv-Anandi being a catalyst to Mitra (Or is it Maitri?) and Prithvi's story. [H] - Its just the other way round, of course its too early to tell.
The Paheli folklore and the symbolic Anthapura both point towards Prithvi-Mitra. It's not really a Shiv-Anandi romance story as it would seem in the starting (to my understanding).
Then Shiv's character, one of a caring understanding friend towards Anandi, begins to revel in being the anti-hero, pretty abruptly. The grey shades of manipulating the story, or scaring Anandi with the street fight. I understand he is trying to pull Anandi back from getting into the whole quixotic mess of the estranged unrequited lovers. What I don't get is why? [H] - Remember, the entire story so far has been narrated from Anandi's first person perspective. There isn't much scope to know other's state of being.
If this had been established since the beginning, it might've made sense. But neither has he ever outright told her to not delve further (if he has, forgive me, I don't remember each scene of the story right now) [H] - He certainly did during their phone calls.
nor has he physically held her back. Somehow manipulation doesn't seem like a trait of his character. I don't know if it really is because I don't watch the show. [H] - You don't have to watch the show. This Shiv has nothing on the bland Shiv from the soap.
To me, the characters of Shiv and Anandi are as fictional as Prithvi and Mitra. I take them as you've created them. And out of all the four characters here, Shiv is seeming a lot more raw and incomplete considering that the story has set out into the sea long back. [H] - Honestly, he hasn't gotten much screen space, for much of it is yet to be written.
I hope I haven't confused you further.
