I agree with your sentiments regarding Anandi's frame of mind Suchi. It's quite a dilemma, that she is in and decisions like this are never taken overnight. As Tinoo point out, she should have been forewarned and prepared mentally.
To Dadisa's credit, she probably thought that Anandi will marry the person I pick (can't blame her for that thinking because she has changed but not to that extent).
Bhairon was initially reluctant about this whole thing but I don't think he articulated it properly. I can't remember, but did they factor in Anandi's agreement to marry whomever they pick?
At the end of the day, it is not easy for anyone (male or female) to just rebound from a bad relationship and fall into another without hanging on to some baggage. Every experience reshapes a person and never leaves you. Anandi will come around, but it will take time. In fact it would appear unbelievable if she accepted without some rebelliousness.
I think herein too lies a message for elders who are motivated by the good they want to do for their kids, regarding most suitable method to adopt when enacting that good. And herein also lies a message for the young person that life does renew itself, we just have to be open it. There is also a message for the so called samaj to understand the intricacies of the emotional state of the abandoned female and supporting, motivating, encouraging rather than dictating a new beginning.
