They say we cannot control what happens to us, but we can control how we react to it. And that makes all the difference and shows what kind of a person we are.
This is shown so beautifully by BV. If we carefully and objectively see, the fate that Anandi and Gauri met with was not too different. Still, the way both are dealing with it, the kind of attitude they are carrying, makes them completely different personalities.
Similarities:
- Both had poor parents
- Both are good in studies
- Jagya was jealous of both
- Both got married to Jagya
- Both love Jagya
- Jagya lied to both for 5 years
- Both abandoned by Jagya
- Both immersed themselves in work / studies to get over this phase
- Both were helped by Bhairon
- Both have been able to make themselves strong professionally
Differences:
- Anandi does not harbour ill-will against anyone, while Gauri does.
- Gauri feels Bhairon's help was because of his guilt; Anandi feels he is doing so out of love
- Gauri could go to any extent to keep Jagya with her; once Anandi understood that Jagya doesn't love her anymore, she made no effort to keep him with her.
- For the sake of Badi Masi, Anandi was willing to pretend being with Jagya despite lot of pain it caused. Gauri could not pretend; she had to reveal the truth.
- Anandi retrospects what she has done wrong; Gauri looks for what wrong others have done.
- Gauri badmouths Anandi; Anandi never did.
- Gauri pretends to be nice in front of Jagya; Anandi never pretended to be anything that she is not.
- Though she is still not able to do it but Anandi is trying to forgive and forget Jagya; Gauri never did.
- Anandi tries to understand Jagya's and Gauri's viewpoint; Gauri never made this effort.
- Anandi is rarely rude; Gauri is rarely polite.
That's why Anandi is loved and respected by so many people; while Gauri has to fight for it.
P.S. I wanted to add "Anandi decided to move on from Jagya; Gauri decided to stick to her past and accepted Jagya". But I feel that this will be the real question we are yet to answer confidently. I'm not sure whether Anandi would also accept Jagya if he comes back to her; or would she really move one. I hope for the latter, but let's see...
