The story line screams the story of Anadi a 8 year old child bride's story of life journeying her path from becoming a child bride, adolescent mother etc...possible widow .Where the original story linr is lost and now has become a ordinary run of the mill sautan ,biwi or pati story.Wish they had sticked to
the original concept showing Anandi's struggle from a child bride to adoloscent mother and focussing on maternal health issue.India has the highest maternal mortality rate .Every year many many mothers die from unhygienic, unsatisfactory health practises.Wish they had shown that all.

Not really. I think the story line is very valid. They have brought up all the relevant issues a child bride faces. Loss of education, loss of identity. A husband who outgrows you and uses your loss of education against you and moves on to a more modern woman. Trying to reclaim your life within the boundaries of your earlier sacrifices...becoming a stronger person in a very cultured controlled way, without demeaning the family you entered or the village life you have embraced.

They have also on the way, touched on widow remarriage, natha pratha and buying of young brides as second wives.

The only two areas I felt were unrealistic and mishandled were Jagya's childhood marriage to Gudiya. They could have completely avoided this track. She could just be anybody from the city whom he liked better..
The second one was the Mumbai outing of Jagya as a kid where Anandi takes a bullet to her brain and survives it. That was too filmi.

I don't think the essence is lost. This is not just the story of Anandi. It is also Suguna's, Phooli's, Gehna and Gauri's story. Each character have been on the limelight at different stages of this serial.

Suguna was also a child bride, who became an adolescent mother and a mother. Phooli was a child widow who later underwent natha pratha and became a mother. Now she is an abandoned single mother. Gehna was the teenage second wife, who underwent marital rape and had to endure the jealous rages of her husband. And Gauri was a forsaken child bride who later becomes the second wife.

Health issue has also been under highlight in this serial. Suguna gives birth to a son at a very young age and then has a miscarriage. She gives birth to a girl child but is advised against having another child.

Gehna has a very difficult pregnancy and is also advised against having another kid. Basant's first wife dies while giving birth after many miscarriages and still births.

These issues have been dealt with much earlier in the serial.
