Hi All,
This is my first post and have been reading the updates regularly.
Its really sad that people appreciate shows like BV where ladies are considered nothing more than a doormat.
Allthough they say that Indian television is dominated by females, but we dont get to see even one strong, assertive and independent female character.
A character who fights for her rights and calls a spade a spade, who is independent, intelligent, smart, educated and handles people around her by her wit and wisdom.
We have so many examples in front of us, but we see on TV is just that doormats like Anandi, Iccha or any other leading lady is considered to be perfect Bahu.
My blood just boiled today when Dadisa 😡 was abusing Anandi's father and was manhandling her and she was just lying down and crying. Actually I feel she deserves this treatment. A person who is not ready to help oneself, even God doesnt come to their rescue Atleast Gehna was better than her.
What do you guys and gals feel. Why for a change can't we have a strong female character, who's only dream is not get married and become a good bahu.
Sorry if you feel otherwise, but had to vent out my feelings after watching crap on television for long time.
Regards,
Pallavi

yeah i agree dear. earlier daadisa was shown as a person who is old traditioned and because of that often the women in the house suffered. but slowly they have changed daadisa into hitler. she strikes without reason nowadays. i really adore gehna on that front. she faught back and u know all along i was with her. i felt that finally someone is fighting for the right thing and i felt what gehna said and did was 100% correct. i only wish she had got proper education so that she culd immediately leave the house with nandu and then raise nandu on her own. i really really wish that could happen. but whatever gehna did was fabulous. every word she said to daadisa and sumitra were to the point and correct. wish sumitra and anandi were also like her.
and after all this tyranny anandi and the others still respect that mogambo(daadisa). dunno whats there to respect her?
anyways i feel that post leap daadisa has completely changed. As it i am not able to digest this new anandi and daadisa is making things worse. its high time that these women stand up and fight for their rights. how long will they be shown as weak and naive?

Hi,
I am also a silent reader of the forum and I completely agree with you, the show should portrait some strong woman character.
I think Suhana of sasural genda phool is the only realistic lady shown in the serials. This is my personal opinion.
Thanks

Sumitra is being annoying.. She just do is crying😕 She used to open her mind atleast to Bhairon.. where is THAT sumitra?? Poor Gehna is fighting as a one man army.. Hope NEW Anandi joins her soon against Massa's cruelty.. Yes, cruelty is the word now.. she is being evil, eviler adn evilest each passing day.. which is sure giving a wrong message to the society👎🏼

dont know what exactly u meant... but hardly does anyone appreciate such atrocities against women, atleast here in this forum. dont think there will be a single post here which says anandi should go on suffering, or dadisa is doing the right thing doing her hitler giri... n may be thats a silver lining na? that inspite of all the stupid message sent out... no one is brainwashed enough to agree to doormat-ish behavior 😊
and in fact, we even have ppl here who doesn't hesitate to say "i learned from dadisa how a MIL should NOT be" (but anyway, i am sure those ppl will never be like dadisa even if they dint have an example in front of them 😊 )

Good post sudss,

I think this Forum has been created for various purposes and the main one being that we can all object to and/or agree on what is happening in these serials.

It is not us that anyone need worry about but all those very young minds who still remember the impish, fun loving, cheerful Anandi pre leap. What they are watching is regression and that is a worry.

With posts such as this we can do our bit of objecting to the very point that the topic starter has written about.

I think sudss has made a great point here that there is not a single person in this Forum who has not at one time or the other or often objected to what is being shown. As responsible citizens we keep writing about the negativity and hoping someone will take notice.

I think people started appreciating this show as it was different from usual saas bahu fare and showed a regressive but real fact of India, child marriage. The initial characterization of Anandi made us believe that we would see her struggles as a child bride, her attempts to continue studies despite Daadisa's rebukes, etc. What we ended up seeing is the same old drama with the lead being a self-righteous sacrificing idiot. I don't think most people on the forum like this, we are mainly watching in the hope that Anandi grows a spine.
Its true though that TRPs go up when the mahaan female lead is tortured, which is why the showmakers have moved away from the original flair of the show. Every single show which started off with the right intentions ended up a victim to TRPs. Uttaran had the ambitous maid's daughter turn into a doormat, Kashi (on NDTV) ended with the girl being married off, BV has Anandi forget all her dreams and only try to please Dadisa. In the Doordarshan days TRPs were not such a factor, so the shows tended to be more consistent, nowadays you just have to keep the drama going, story be damned.

👏 Never a truer word was said. It is a Bulls Eye analysis.

We have in our own ways said the same, but it just does not get better, easier or interesting.

Soon we will have to move on to programmes like Wipeout or Minute to Win it because at least that does afford you some entertainment even if it doesn't require activation of our brain cells.😉
