Dwelling on the Details: Of Secrets and Surprises
[Episode 61] May 9th, 2016- Rajni saves Kuhu's life...but she also scares the living daylights out of the poor girl. I don't think this is the surprise that Shaan or Rajni wanted to give the birthday girl when Shaan hinted that they might show up at the mall later... #PoorKuhu- So Rajni saves her family, faces the masked (not-so-masterful)mastermind, diffuses a bomb, knocks out the masked guy, and promptly speeds away. All of this happens, and only Kuhu knows the identity of their savior.- I like that Kuhu's dilemma is being focused on. It's clearly visible that she is shaken by her encounter with Rajni. Not the ideal situation for a revelation like that - I would probably be in shock for quite a while if I had been in Kuhu's shoes. Being pulled to safety by someone with a metal arm...and then finding out that someone is in fact a very, very dear family member... #PoorKuhu- But Kuhu does speak up about the fact that the mystery person was a girl/woman. Thank you to the boy who said, "Ladki jaisi thi..." because even though he was unsure, it prompted Kuhu to clear the confusion and drive the point home that a woman saved them all from being blown to smithereens. Also, hooray for Ghyaan pointing out that Rajni is also a female - so Surili should shut up about her "Women are just as capable as men...except for Rajni" jaap. Well, Ghyaan, you tried.👏👏👏I love that both brothers have so much love and respect for Rajni. And it was very nice to see that Gyaan brought back up the issue about Rajni having saved Surili before. It's one of those facts that I wonder how Surili conveniently forgets when she's insulting Rajni. Interestingly, when Gyaan mentions it again when they come home, I think Surili actually gets a bit suspicious if it might have been her! Of course those thoughts are dispelled when Shaan explains that they were at home the whole time (when neither were home lol)@Shoguta: Stupid girl thinks it's a fishy story??😡😡 So basically she is insinuating that a guest in their home, who has no benefit of proving Rajni a good person, has lied to the entire family that Rajni saved the mother? Really??- This is the point where I missed about 5 minutes or so. Thanks to BTS footage, I have a rough idea of what might have transpired...and I probably missed a lovely little Shaan-Rajni moment. So Shaan arrives at home, where Rajni reveals that she went to the mall and foiled an attack. I think Shaan impulsively and somewhat frantically asks Rajni if she's all right. Oh, these two. Of all the things I had to miss...I am also curious about what is in that package from Singapore. Please let it be a good thing. It was hilarious!!😆😆 Basically Rajni returns home and frees the courier guy, apologising for tying him up. He says "No problem" and thanks her for the juice and sandwiches?!?!?!Firstly, if he was tied up, how did he eat them?? Also, he mentioned initially that he was rushing. Now no more rush??😆 Shaan comes home and wonders why she served him juice and sandwiches and then she tells him she went to the mall. The sweet part was that the first thing he asked her was if she was okay, and then he went to ask if everyone else was okay😳😳- Cut to Shaan trying to convince Kuhu that Rajni is not a superwoman of any kind. Shaan, that's not going to help. Rajni joins Shaan, echoing his words, mirroring his body language. I love these two adorable idiots...But guys, that's not going to help! So Shaan and Rajni accidentally succeed in scaring Kuhu even more. Good job. Very well done. #PoorKuhu@bold:🤣🤣 I think this scene should prove how pathetic Shaan really is with kids! He has no idea how to approach them at al!! Whatever has been done well with Kuhu so far has been Rajni's ideas anyways- The Vamp Blame Game continues. If there's one thing I absolutely love about this, it's Karan-Ridhima's faces. When Maggie and Bua taunt them, Shaan tries to speak up in his and Rajni's defense. Obviously, they're not given a chance to speak. When Shoguta takes over, Shaan looks like he's totally done with this nonsense. And Rajni blinks and frowns, her brow furrowing just a bit.- Shaan has had enough. And the sarcasm kicks in. "Main zimmedaari leta hoon uss attack ki!" His voice rises and falls as his anger and irritation flare up. I love how Shaan doesn't hesitate for a second before calling his aunt and sister and sister-in-law "vamps" to their faces, because that is what they are. Someone had to say it, and I'm glad it's him. He hesitates and changes direction when it comes to his mother...but it's obvious that he's fed up with her, too. I think Karan does such a great job modifying his tone in this show. There's a lot of variation as far as voice modulation goes, even more so because one moment, Shaan can be poker-faced and impassive, and then he can be extremely demonstrative and expressive. Sometimes I feel like Shaan's quiet anger is probably the most dangerous...it seems like his annoyance simmers until it boils, and if there's sarcasm added to the mix, then it could be potentially lethal when that anger finally makes it to the surface.Well said!👏👏👏 Completely completely agree with you...and fantastic analysis by the way. I think it's really important to realise that for the most part, Shaan has always been rather quiet on the Rajni-defending front for the most part - usually telling Rajni to keep quiet or to apologise. I'm hoping Dhyaan's irritation has rubbed off on him and he has decided enough is quite literally, enough. He has definitely inherited this trait from his dad, who is usually so reserved and cheery but didn't hesitate to state his point when he realised his son had gone astray. In another serial I had watched, one character poignantly explained that anger and wrath used in an unjust situation is a necessity that people should not be quick to criticise.- Ah, but Shaan isn't going to let this rest without thanking the woman who saved everyone. While the rest of his family is back to their usual complaining, sparing maybe a few seconds at most to express their gratitude at being alive and well, Shaan actually makes it a point to convey his heartfelt thanks to the (unknown) rescuer. Irony, as expected, with Shaan and Surili both agreeing on this...and Rajni automatically replies, "You're welcome!" The day when Surili finds out that Rajni is the reason she is still alive...that will be a fine day, indeed.I feel as though it would have to happen several times over before we are treated to anything...case in point: The fire that broke out in the first week. Surili completely ignored it😭😭- "Robo Chachi! I like!" How cute is Rajni?! "Arrey, you like, woh toh theek hai, lekin socho Kuhu ko rokenge kaise!" Haha, Shaan pushes Rajni's hands aside and starts waving his hands around instead. "Tumhara data maine banaaya hai, toh mere paas woh solution kyun nahi hai?!?" Pat comes the reply. "Yeh aapko pata hona chahiye." LOL, I love how Shaan has just given up replying to that now! These catchphrases are fabulous and I like the gradual progress we get to see along with their use!Too adorable!! If Shaan is going to be sarcastic with Rajni, he should be well-prepared to receive a reply in kind😆😆- Poor Kuhu is going to have nightmares, thanks to her Shaan Chachu and Rajni Chachi. She practically dives into Amrish's embrace when he comes in to see how she's doing. I'm glad Amrish is cooling down now. His little chuckle when Kuhu says that Rajni is a superwoman, and his additional praise for Rajni..."Teri Rajni Chachi sab kuch hai!" Thank you, Amrish! There seems to be a light at the end of this tunnel!I found it so odd that nobody but Amrish came by to check on the little girl...as it is, it is so strange that all their first responses was to blame Rajni for not coming, instead of feeling grateful for being together. And poor Kuhu was literally thrown off the 3rd floor by the terrorist!! If such things had happened to me, I would be terrified! 🤢🤢 Once again, it is proven that only Amrish has any thought for the child...horrible parents, and horrible other family members.- Kuhu's birthday surprise! I love the music in the scene with the paper planes, especially during the part where she goes outside and walks to Shaan's lab. Kuhu hesitates a little before hopping over the dividing line...but she shouldn't have been dragged into that mess in the first place, so I'm happy that she ultimately crossed over into Shaan-Rajni's territory! Speaking of which, how sweet are Shaan and Rajni?! They decorated Shaan's lab (which is basically their hideaway spot and safe haven) with pastel-colored balloons and tons of stuffed animals! There's even a pink monkey hanging on Shaan's lamp, haha! And as Kuhu looks around at all of this, Rajni peeks out from behind a little teddy bear...She smiles at her niece...But Kuhu isn't smiling back.- The final few seconds of the episode were heartwarming and heartbreaking. Kuhu's fear is understandable and the poor child is overwhelmed right now...But it's still painful to see her smile fade and turn into a frown as soon as she sees Rajni. As a side note, how adorable does Rajni look, holding that teddy bear?! She's so sweet!

[Episode 62] May 10th, 2016- That teddy bear is Rajni's gift to Kuhu, but it's also a kind of way to test the waters. "Oh, hello! Dekho, main kitna cute hoon! Kitna sweet hoon! Phir bhi mujhe koi pasand nahi karta! Mujhse koi baat nahi karta!" This is adorable! I feel like Rajni is speaking about herself, as well. She is the sweetest...and through no fault of her own, all of the women in her family dislike her.Can I just mention how impressed I am with Rajni and her ability to talk to a child?? Everyone in this house has either ignored her or scared her (looking at you Shaan babu😆), and yet Rajni is the only one who has constantly brought a smile to the child's face. Even this year set-up was her idea only - so hats off to Rajni!@teddy bear: When she starts to speak, her voice changes a little to become higher and more cutesy! And then she nose bumps the bear to Kuhu to bring home the point... Add in her fake crying as well! Too cute yaar Rajni😆@bold: Yes and yes! I think it's probably an extension of her "not-lying" feature, and I was very impressed by how they subtly wafted in this point through a very child-friendly method.- "Yeh sab kuch tumhare liye hai, Kuhu. Do you like it?" Awww, I love the way Rajni looks at Kuhu, curiously, almost a tiny bit apprehensively. "Kya tumhe tumhari Cinderella Chachi se darr lagta hai, Kuhu?" Ridhima's voice modulation is so lovely. Gentle, steady, comforting. Reminds me of the way a mother would calm down her child.Very true!!👏👏It's so odd to see a robot behaving more motherly than a human, no? Also, best.birthday.gift.ever?? Given that this poor girl had to endure such a horrific day, it's nice to see Shajni try to make at least the ending better for her😊She takes the time and effort to explain the truth to the child, instead of pretending what she saw was fake or something of that sort. I think it showed great maturity on the part of the CVs that doesn't just dismiss children as dumdums but actually tries to connect with one.- Kuhu is okay with this, it seems. I just hope we never have to see the effects of Rajni lying ever again! Yikes. That said, it was a good way to show Kuhu that Rajni is trustworthy.🤣🤣 SAME HERE!! I was absolutely mortified when Rajni did that trick - how is Kuhu not more afraid than before??? Also, her laugh sounded more like a cackle?? Kuhu ek daam bahadur hain!!😕😕- Shaan! Where was he all this time? Did he and Rajni want Kuhu to speak to Rajni alone, to see how she would react? Shaan steps in at the perfect time to answer Kuhu's question. I seriously feel like Shaan and Rajni would make very good parents.😳😳😳 Rajni probably coached Shaan on how to engage with a child regarding such a delicate matter...and I'm glad, like you said, that Shaan came in at the right time to explain.@good parents: Now that's to decide when they've got their own brood!😆😆- "Yehi toh main keh raha hoon! *whispers* She is faulty!" *Rajni whispers back* "Main faulty nahi hoon! Shaan Chachu faulty hai!" Even their arguing is adorable! I'm wondering if this was also a part of their plan...Maybe, maybe not. In any case, Shaan takes Rajni over to her charging station and decides it would be best for everyone if Rajni is dismantled - he keeps talking, but takes plenty of time to carefully put the headset on Rajni's head...He then gives Kuhu the ultimate authority over destroying Rajni...which she chooses not to do. For Kuhu, Rajni Chachi may not be human...she is far better than that.@arguing: I think it wasn't!! Oh man, I wonder what prompted Rajni to continue such an inane and childish fight?!? Sometimes Shaan is right a robo-wife - they're not too different from a real one!🤣@authority: I'm no child development expert, but I believe by giving Kuhu the "ultimate authority" on deciding what happens to Rajni, it would definitely make her more confident about her decision (instead of following what Shaan says) and also would make her feel safer. Also, when Rajni says "Goodbye Kuhu" with no malice or ill intention, it would definitely show Kuhu that her Rajni chachi is a good robot. Also, Kuhu thanks Rajni for saving her life...now who else in the family should be doing that too???😡😡@last line: Let's hope what you've said rings true for the rest of the house some day😊- I like the way Shaan explains why Rajni's identity can't be revealed to the family yet. He gives Kuhu straightforward, logical examples describing Rajni's features (like a computer), her problems, and the importance of keeping an eye on her (like a monitor). And he uses lingo that is totally in sync with his profession and hobbies, which is a bonus!Ditto for me too! Given how writers have butchered most other females in this show, I've been genuinely impressed how they portrayed Shaan and Rajni's interactions with a child! And Kuhu is so sweet and obliging! Great kid😊Also, "Mujhko toh bura laga tha na chachu" - That's another one too the list! It's nice to see more and more people feeling bad on Rajni's behalf when she gets insulted!- "OK Shaan!" "OK Shaan." As if one wasn't enough...Shaan is momentarily stunned. His niece is already starting to see his robo-wife as someone worth emulating. But this could be problematic. "OK Shaan Chachu." "OK Shaan Chachu! I like this game!" "Now we are a team! All three!" YAY! Now where's Dev?🤣🤣 That is teamwork for you Shaan! I laughed out loud when she did it again in another scene! I'm eagerly awaiting the scene when Kuhu calls him PareShaan!!@Dev: I hope he returns! In any case, doesn't Shaan need to bring him back to show Matthew (assuming he realises Matty thinks Dev is a robo)? I think Kuhu-Dev will be hilarious -- a clown with a smart child!- Rajni proceeds to try scrubbing the boundary line away, Dhyaan provides an assortment of sarcastic comments about the never-ending Kant family drama, Shaan joins the late-night party just in time, Amrish tries desperately to repaint the line Rajni is erasing, and Surli is split in half by all of the aforementioned people, really. Rajni is the one holding the mop that flies in the air because Shaan/Dhyaan are trying to wrestle it out of her hands...the mop hits Amrish, whose paintbrush divides Surili's face (roughly) in half. Is this symbolism? I sure hope it is, because we need some progress on that front soon! If Surili's loyalties and sentiments start to split between her stubborn perception of "classiness + cultural heritage" and her affection for her son + respect for his wife...If that starts to happen, even in the tiniest ways, I'll take that as a good sign. Let's see, though.@bold: I'm so so glad you picked up on that one too!! I was genuinely thinking if this might mean that Surili is most likely to cross the line to get back her 2 sons? I think it would be the biggest twist in the plot because she vehemently refuses to accept Rajni, yet erasing the line would only bring Rajni closer to her...- "Bauji! Aap Geometry mein 100% fail hue honge! Dekhiye! Yeh line bhi tedi maari hai! Aapko sach-much line maarna nahi aata!" LOL at Dhyaan facepalming in the background and Shaan staring up at the paint line on his mother's face! Oh, but Rajni doesn't just take this literally, she takes it figuratively, too. "Bauji aapke pati hai. Unhe aap par line maarna allowed hai!" At this point, Shaan is ready to call it a day...night...whatever.@bold: I just burst out laughing on the spot...I didn't get it at first, but then I saw Surili's annoyed face combined with Shaan and Dhyaan's outright confusion and finally got the joke...What a bad pun in what bad timing🤣- "Bahut papad belne padenge..." And Rajni lists out a dozen types of papad. Always on a roll, this one! I like the fact that Shaan takes the time to gently explain to a frustrated Kuhu that Robo - I mean, Rajni Chachi takes commands and phrases literally, so they have to be very careful about what they say. "OK Shaan...Chachu." "Better." "Good night, Chachi!" Shaan and Rajni's secret keeper is a darling!
When Kuhu got annoyed, Shaan had this knowing smile on his face...must be quite nice to have someone else who knows how tiresome it is to live with someone who takes things too literally!😆😆I foresee a lot of Shaan-Kuhu facepalm moments in the future!
