This biwi is mind-blowing
Rajni aka Ridhima Pandit is happy doing some Ranji Kant-type stunts while Shaan Kant aka Karan Grover is happy to find an obedient wife in Rajni. Their on-screen antics in the serial Bahu Hamari Rajni_Kant are as interesting as their off screen banters

When will we do something different on telly?' The question crossed Karan V Grover's mind like so many other telly stars. He saw a mine of potential in the one-line brief, "A robot for a biwi", which was given to him, and he grabbed it. The story of Shaan Kant and a robot he makes, Rajni, who turns Rajni_Kant as the situation demands, has Karan in for a different ride."Almost after a decade of acting in soaps, I finally have got a wife to whom I can tell what to do. So far, I have only seen biwis who tell you, their mother-in-law and society at large as to what needs be done," opens up the handsome hunk in Chandigarh, on Thursday. Accompanying him is co-star, Ridhima Pandit, a petite girl you must have seen in commercials.Bahu Hamari Rajni_Kant is the story of a family where the bahu is sarvgunsampan, courtesy, her creator-turned-hubby, who has downloaded every possible programme on her. Right from cooking to being adarsh' bahu . "Turning a robot into a wife, even on screen, has sure made me a better human being," says Karan adding, "how in a day-to-day life, we forget what all a woman manages, three meals a day, is no mean task day after day to begin with."The show that opened two weeks back is getting encouraging response. Karan promises it to be a hatke take on a robot' in family sitcoms. Small Wonder to date remains the pioneering one in this genre but the comparison is only that of a genre. "Apart from the fact that both Vicky and Rajni are robots, there is no other similarity between the two." While Karan blends well in saas bahu operas on reel, he is not the one to watch them in real. A stickler for humour, he is all for Kapil, Krushna, Bharti and that's what he watches apart from Bates Motel.Karan promises that we will see more of him on big screen soon (he was seen in Wedding Pulao). Till then he requests you to take your popcorn and enjoy antics of Bahu Hamari Rajni_Kant Monday to Friday at 8 on Life OK!Over to Rajni KantRidhima Pandit debuts on small screen with Bahu Hamari Rajni_Kant. A theatre actor, she has worked with the likes of Nadira Babbar. After being part of several auditions, this show fell in her lap. "I clicked with this one right from first audition, though I got the confirmation pretty late I somehow knew I was going to be part of this show," says Ridhima. The show gives her the chance to play different shades and that is what the actor in her was hankering after. Add to it, the added bonus of different stunts that come her way. "The reach of telly today is massive and I am happy to be a part of this ever-growing medium."Samosas and fitnessIt was fun to watch Karan Grover take his co-star Ridhima Pandit on a fun trip. Ask the girl, and he was the one to answer. What does Ridhima watch on telly? "Food shows," says Karan loud and clear. "The funniest sight on the sets was seeing her dressed in the robot get-up, harness attached and all, and tucking in samosa and kachoris." Ridhima laughs. "I asked him to share his fitness mantra and he did on the condition that I would follow. I try to but he eats so super healthy, I am always looking to sneak out and have my grub real fast." Pretty fit, the duo, swear by black coffee to get through the long shifts for the sets!
