This is an appreciation post for Bade Ache Lagte Hain season 2.

I remember the first time I got interested to watch this show was when I saw the promos and a popular jodi being back on screen again! For some reason, in that promo Nakuul-Disha both of them got me nostalgic as I recall bit of Bade Ache Lagte Hain S1 and also bit of Pankhuri-Aditya. Both shows I didn’t watch regularly but used to be fav shows of my family that time so I saw some episodes with my family.

For the last 4-5 years I did not watch much ITV shows and even the ones I watched I lost interest pretty fast or got frustrated with the show. So that’s why I did not want to watch another one and hence didnt follow any ITV weekdays show(m a reality show fan) for last 2 years till BALH2 hit the screens. I actually watched the show with pretty low expectations but I really loved it!

From the first episode it hit the right notes. They showed Ram a super successful and cheerful businessman but has hidden his pain infront of the world, the pain of one-sided love and being taken for granted by his step-family whom he doesnt even consider step. And then they showed Priya on other hand, a middle-class lady who is a professor in a university and is shown to be rough at the same time the wonder-woman of her family, however due to broken trust she finds it difficult to trust people especially men. So basically how these two get married(arranged marriage) and fall in love after marriage(shaadi ke baath pyaar hote hote hojata hai)

And then rain(baarish) being the theme for few episodes, (baarish still does make a cameo at times). The acting and direction have been quite good, especially the way Nakuul and Disha played Ram and Priya.

Even though now probably the show might not be the same as it used to be at the start, at the same time it is not at all easy to maintain standards of a show after 100 episodes, honestly I feel this show is still enjoyable mainly because of the acting and some really well written scenes.

The show may have some loopholes like sloppy editing and inconsistency in writing at times, and overdose of irritating characters sometimes, despite all these drawbacks the show manages to stand out among the current itv shows.

One thing that makes this show different from other shows, probably mentioned it before is that they showed that a male can cry. Very rarely in ITV they showed cheerful male characters and clumsy(in a funny way) even if they did they showed most of them as highly oversmart. Ram is smart but fragile when it comes to emotion and he always respected women. He never objectified anyone. Then they also showed a lady can be the one doing all the speaking, she can be the one guiding the male lead not the other way round like they have always shown. This role reversal worked out really well!

Not to forget this show had a huge pressure of being a sequel show with a completely different cast it was not easy for this show to be successful. Yeah they might not be getting very high trps but they maintained one thing from s1 and that is being the highest trp getter among fiction shows in sony. Actually I m quite glad the show is getting the appreciation it deserves. Nakuul/Ram won 2 awards as best actor this month, Ram-Priya won best jodi award and also BALH2 won best new show award! It is also always top 10 in online trps, infact sometimes top 5. And in IF it is the no.1 non-star plus show according to IF chaska meter rating! Its even doing well internationally too.

I hope the show will continue to impress us and show more good tracks, and also maintain Priya and Ram’s characterization. Also its high time they should show Ram and Priya’s love confession!

Totally agree with you, Even I got interested in watching BALH2 from the very first promo. It is the season 2 of the last ITV serial over a decade back and it was my fav at that time. The concept of this show is so unique. Not cliche like normal shows that comes on ITV. And best part is that it had Disha and Nakuul who were in PKD that almost aired at the same time as BALH1. So it is pure nostalgia. I hope the show keeps entertaining us. ❤️

I had never seen the first season, and this one didn't appeal to me at first, but here at home in Russia, I was an amateur translation editor for local viewers, so I unwittingly started watching to better understand the speech for the subtitles. Since then I have completely disappeared) I saw a lot of Indian shows, this story absolutely stands out among them, there is no pedaling with the theme of sick relationships, overly cool men or unrealistically helpless women with an ideal character.

Ram and Priya are just people who have their flaws and virtues, like other characters, they are all alive, normal.

It is very nice that the love between Ram and Priya is based on the right things - communication, recognition, sincerity, respect, willingness to accept the other (other), kindness and understanding.

Now such foundations in people and their relationships are very lacking.

The same goes for the example of friendship. Who wouldn't want to have people like the gang around?

Even sins and negative characters have something human and understandable in them.

Nandini is the fear of losing his newfound place, Shubhu is a guy who wants to prove his worth, Shashi is a typical envious person with complexes, so he likes to take away and wants Vedika - also full of complexes, expressed in the queen's syndrome, she is absolutely not self-confident, Niraj - a narcissist who is either under or out of love.

In opposition to this, there are Ram, Priya, Priya's family and even Shivi - a spoiled but sweet child, everyone has something that teaches us how to be (for example, independent and strong like Priya, cheerful and enjoying like Ram, and loving like Mira ma), or what not to be (stepping over people like Shashi, Vedika and Nandini).

All these people carry a lesson, in addition to the thousand different emotions that we experience while watching the series.

Special thanks for this to the authors and actors, they make the characters real people, so every award is deserved, but the big reward is the love that I want to give them in return for what we get.

In general, my love took place with them)

I completely agree with you… it hit the right note from the beginning… lost its sheen somewhere in between.. but I think they are getting back on track.. I am not complaining much since past 2 weeks.

They had a huge baggage in terms of expectations due to a hugely successful S1 with such big stars. What I really loved was the way the made their way to our hearts as the characters, both the new ones and the old ones. Ram, Priya, Adi and Bri, Nandini… all had a constant pressure of being compared to S1… love the way they carved their own place.

For me this has turned out to be better for the acting prowess of the leads, their chemistry and as @whyamihere said.. they have become my comfort couple… something I look forward to unwind after a long hardworking day. I live and breathe the characters as they are not fictional.. I feel with them and for them…

Nothing is perfect, so is not this one.. hope they try and maintain the essence, do not drag it unnecessary and give it the legit and deserving end at the right time, without being greedy.

I am loving Raya’s journey and the fact that they are human, just like us… not all their reactions and interactions can be perfect…

Sorry for tagging you Sistas… but I discuss so much, so bear with this emotional overflow ☺️

Lol! Yesterday by Bollywood Life Awards. Twitter is filled with appreciation for the show. In fact if anyone has noticed, Balh2 has 8.2 rating on IMDb. It is currently one of the best itv shows content-wise and has in fact one awards in such a short span of time which none of the top trp rating shows, like Ghum hai, Imlie, Yeh hai chaahatein, kkb, Kdb, etc., haven’t got yet.

Received as in? They didn’t visit the award function, I think it happened online. But they did have an award winning speech.
