Sara was slowly moving towards the center of the dark room keeping alert for any footsteps coming her way when she bumped into someone and immediately, a shrieked escaped her mouth and she hid the cake behind herself thinking either Ram or Priya has bumped into her. “I was just looking for you Priya, where were you?” she asked diverting the attention from herself for being inside ram and Priya's bedroom in the middle of the party.
“Sara...?” came Brinda's voice and they both sighed in relief. Brinda extended her arm and turned on the lights.
“What are you doing here?”
“What are you doing here?”
Both asked at the same time and started to eye each other while hiding one hand behind their backs. Brinda waited for 2 mins trying to gauge sara’s expressions but knowing she is on limited time here she rolled her eyes and decided to explained herself first. She bought her hand forward and showed sara her hand with proud.
“I was here to put these inside the bathroom. You?”
“They still print these?” asked a horrified sara.
“don't try to change the topic. Why are you here?” and sara showed Brinda the cake in her hand.
“Rum cake? You trying to get Raya tipsy?” asked Brinda impressed.
“How will these work if not for my rum cake.” replied sara with a smirk gesturing towards Brinda's hand. They both looked at each other for a few seconds, then grinned and high-fived.
“Oh my god sara! You took forever to bring this cake.”
“It wasn’t easy getting this cake to this room without Priya's knowledge. She has taken over the entire party like a Godzilla.”
“Ok, put the cake on the table and I will mix these with the business issues in the bathroom. Hurry!”
“Brinda are sure about this? So, you really think some p**n magazines and a rum cake will do the trick? This will work right?”
“OfCourse it will! Everyone saw them in the party. They both totally have hots for each other, they just need a little push in the right direction. And we are giving them that push. Don’t worry, have faith in my plan.”
“But......” sara started to say something but stopped when her eyes fell on two pairs of legs behind the curtain and her eyes became the size of two golf balls.
“What but? What happened? Say something.” asked Brinda turning around to see what had gotten sara’s tongue. Sara signaled Brinda through her eyes towards the legs, and Brinda finally realized they were not alone. They both looked at each other with wide eyes.
“Who is that?” asked a whispering sara.
“How would I know.” replied Brinda in the same tone.
“Now what do we do? They must have heard everything. What if they told this to ram or worse to Priya? She will kill us! She will be celebrating our death anniversary next year with ram’s birthday.” said a panicked sara.
“Relax sara! All you have to remember is that if we are caught, I don’t speak English and you are deaf!” said Brinda with trepidation filling her being from top to bottom.
“Huh! What kind of plan is this? We will be brutally murdered by Priya if she got to know about our mid-party detours.”
“I never planned on being caught! This question is out of my syllabus. Give me a minute to think.”
“Fine!”
“What if we asked these kind, generous and gorgeous ladies to not tell Priya anything? They can be reasoned with, right?”
Sara looked at Brinda with bemusement. “This is what you come up with, by thinking? This is your brilliant idea? Talk to them? How original!”
“Hey! At least I came up with an idea. Now go talk to them.”
“Why me alone? It was both of our plan to come here, we will talk together.” Brinda nodded and they both moved ahead to reveal who Is behind the curtain.
Sara pulled back the curtain to reveal someone holding something in their hands they never expected to see even in their wildest dreams. They both stood with blank faces and open mouths. They were so befuddled at the scene in front of them that they both were unable to decide which reaction to give, should they laugh, be angry or be impressed by the two youngest sisters of ram and Priya holding an extra-large box of condoms standing there giving them their toothy grins.
“Hey Brinda di, hey sara di. It’s a beautiful starry night, right?” said sandy trying to diffuse the tension.
“What are you both doing here?” Asked sara.
“Why do you have that box?” asked Brinda.
“You heard what bhai said in the party. I'm too young. I mean, we both are too young to be aunts, so we decided to gift bhai this.” replied Shivina indicating towards the box in her hand.
“Do you know how to use it?” asked Brinda to Shivina curiously.
“Brinda...!” whispered sara amused, looking at Brinda.
“What? it’s a genuine question! If she knows about protection, why didn’t she used it herself, not that I'm complaining. Ram got Priya in return.” whispered back Brinda, with a cool shrug from her shoulder and sara giggled.
“I don’t know exactly but Akshay knows, so bhai must also know.” replied a nonchalant Shivina. And both sara and Brinda chuckled while sandy looked at her Bhabhi so scandalized to know their bedroom secrets.
“Geniuses, why were you both behind the curtain? Did you want to watch them use your gift?” Said Brinda all the while controlling her laughter.
“NO!” came aloud squealed from both the girls, who looked like they have seen a ghost. And sara laughed out loud at their self-induced crisis. “We were...just...we. We came...put...we heard someone’s footsteps coming this way so, we switch offed the lights and hid behind the curtain.”
“let's do what we are here to do and get out before anyone notices ok? And no one talks about any of this to anyone. Not even Akshay or Shubham, ok Shivina?” commanded sara to everyone. They all put all the things they bought with them to wherever it was supposed to go and left the room with a giddy feeling in anticipation of ram and Priya’s arrival in their room after the party.
I know, it doesn't have your favourite couple but bear with me please.
