Another OS, because I felt that the whole Aditi thing ruined the budding romance between Priya and Ram.
OS — Nazdeekiyaan [On Track]
Ram couldn’t focus on anything. Last night was one of the best he had had in a long time. Drunk Priya was the best treat ever. Life would be so right if she was like that without being intoxicated. How he wished that her brain remained intoxicated. A smile crept up his face.
He couldn’t stop thinking about last night. There were so many moments when he was so lost, so infatuated, so spellbound by just looking at her. He would have kissed her last night. The realization made his cheeks flush.
At the same time, tension set in. If Priya remembered whatever happened last night, she’d roast him like peanuts. Would she remember that he nuzzled against her neck, hugged her from behind all of that when she was drunk.
Troubled he bit his nails. He had been so much into Priya that he had forgotten that she was drunk and that he had to be a gentleman and keep his hands off her. Not hug her, definitely not be as close to her as he was last night and most definitely not think of kissing her. Would she remember that they snuggled last night?
Moving to his third nail, he glanced at the flowers. He loved roses. And now he loved them even more. He had grabbed the bunch she had given them last night from the vase in his room while leaving for work. Only God know how he had stealthily got ready early in the morning and left before she woke up. He was scared of her wrath.
Maybe he should go out for a business trip? Maybe he should go back to Meera Maa's house? No, that would only get her anger to triple up.
“Ram, you didn’t have breakfast today?” He heard Adi's voice and looked up to realize his friend had entered the room and sat on the chair across the table.
“No,”
“What? Priya let you out of the house without eating?”
“She was sleeping, “
“Oh, so tune abhi tak usse baat nahi ki?”
“Nahi,” He spoke up.
“Ram, baat kar le naa. Ussne tere liye itna sab kiya, party arrange ki, Tera favorite cake banaaya aur tu usse baat hi nahi kar raha. Aur Vedika… usko thank you bol raha thaa, uske saath dance kar raha thaa. Priya, ko Kitna burn laga hoga naa. Brinda hoti toh mujhe zinda chaba jaati.”
Ram sighed. Adi was right. He had to apologize and thank her.
* *
Ram paced up and down the room. Where the hell was Priya? She hadn’t contacted him through the day. She wouldn’t respond to his texts or calls. She was ignoring him again. Why did she do that? She knew her ignorance got him irritated. If she didn’t, she should. Now worry was beginning yo set in.
Did he cross the line last night? She was his wife, so technically they could. But… it was Priya…
When he heard footsteps, a relief set in. He was sure it was her. She walked in, “Hi, Mr Kapoor,”
“where were you? I have called forty you times, sent twenty messages. Respond toh kar let naa.”
“Wo mera phone gir ke tut gaya. I am sorry Mr. Kapoor. “
“Gir kaise gaya?”
“Wo, mera ankle twist ho gaya thaa, toh balance bigad gaya aur ..”
Worried Ran, reached her. “are you okay? Kahin chot toh nayi aayi? Per kaisa hai. Left yaa right?” He asked looking down.
Priya smiled. “Mr Kapoor, main itni aasani se toh nahi girti. Sab theek hai. Bas phone..tut gaya.”
“Thank God,” He breathed, hugging her.
Priya parted her lips at his sudden hug. She remembered the way she hugged him last night. It felt so right. Without much thought she hugged him back. “I am okay,” she whispered.
She felt his grip get tighter. Suddenly she remembered she wasn’t much of a hugger. And this was Ram!
The memories from last night came rushing back. The entire day she was troubled with them. How could she be so stupid to lose her guard. Yet, she craved for a night as beautiful as last night.
Pulling back her hands she gave him the cur to part. He did, reluctantly. Priya hesitantly looked anywhere but at him.
Ram was in awe to see the otherwise composed, rock solid Priya so flustered. It had to mean she remembered last night.
“so, last night… I am sorry. Sadu ban ke ghum raha thaa. And, thank you so much for everything… favorite khaana, favorite cake, favorite decorations, sab kuch meri pasand ka thaa. Lagta hai tum meri pasand samajh chuki ho.”
Priya managed a smile.
“Waise, tumhe toh kuch yaad nahi hoga… itni pee jo li thii.” Priya rolled her eyes hearing that. “Mujhe nahi pata thaa kii tum itni jealous bhi ho sakti ho.”
Priya looked at him shocked. “Jealous? Mr. Kapoor jealousy kahan se aayi ab?”
“I understand, Priya, Maine Sab credit Vedika ko de diya, pvir uske saath dance kar raha thaa toh tumhe shaayad burn laga ho. I am sorry.”
“Mr Kapoor, Maine voluntarily nahi pee thi. Pata nahi kaise galti se pee li. Aur jealous? Main kyun Vedika se jalungi. Maun toh sirf aapse… I mean… I am grown up…ye jealousy and all not my cup of tea.”
“mujh se toh bada jal ti ho, jab Meeera Maa mujhe apne haaton se khilaati hai, maalish karti hai aur. .."
“Mr Kapoor!” She warned silencing him.
He grinned, “Fine, waise tumhe naa drunk hi rehna chaiye. Na mujhe tension naa tumhe. Everything is just so bindaas. Waise tumhe toh yaad hoga nahi. Pata hai tum yahan iss table pe chadke… plane uda rahi thii.
Priya frowned, “Shaayad apple bhi kal pee hui thii. Maine plane nahi uda rahi thii bulb change kar rahi thi”
A full blown smile appeared on Ram's lips. “Toh tumhe sab yaad hai.”
“nahi, wahi bas yaad thaa.,” she mumbled.
“Acha okay. Waise aaj lagta hai baarish hogi. Mujhe naa aaj wo baarish wala coupon use karna hai.”
Priya widened her eyes, “wo aap ek hi baar use kar sakte hain, kal…” She zipped her mouth realizing his trap.
“Kya Priya! Jhooth bolna bilkul bahi aata hai. Tumhe sab yaad hai.”
Priya looked around the room. “wo mujhe book lagi hai, kitchen mein jaat hoon.”
He held her hand in time, “uncomfortable ho?”
“Huh?” She looked at his eyes.
He smiled remembering her telling that she liked watching his eyes.
“Humaari Shaadi real hai naa? Hai naa?” He asked.
She nodded.
“toh phir, ye,” He stepped closer. His face inches away from her. “Ye nazdeekiyaan toh normal hoti hai naa shaadi mein, pati patni ke beech.”
She inhaled sharply.
“Uncomfortable hona chod do naa.” He whispered, his lips moving closer to her cheeks.
“Ram,” she said at high alert.
He smiled hearing his name instead of the regular Mr Kapoor. “Hmm,”
“Mere haath chodiye, mujhe khaan banana hai. Bahut bhook lagi hai.”
“Mujhe bhi. Lunch par chalein?”
“Huh,”
“It’s my birthday, you can’t say no.” He whispered, tucking her hair behind her ear.
“theek hai,” Priya said sucking in a breath.
“Good, neeche milte hain, it’s a date ” He said, placing a kiss on her cheek before disappearing out of the room.
Priya sighed. “Kya kar rahe hain aap Mr Kapoor!” She touched her cheek, with the hint of a smile.
