I won't say he was smitten at that point but yes he was intrigued by her. She was different and he had started to realise that. Also he felt guilty as his family was being disrespectful to her knowingly. He knew that she was an independent, self reliant and proud girl who doesn't like people questioning her integrity and him asking to sign a prenup put unasked questions on her character and their future marriage.

If Ram is sh**t scared of losing Priya, he should stop all his shenanigans with Vedika first.

Poor Priya will be/ is confused as to what is going on between these too, she already has seen enough of these two.

My logical explanation is CVs wanted Priya to know about Ram's past with Vedika during his birthday but they realized Vedika is needed for future tracks so they brought back the Akki-Shivi separation track. Now the bigger problem, CVs didn't know how to close the Akki-Shivi track, so they opened another track of Ram realizing his love for Priya. In that process, they created the Lohri kaand, the tried and tested formula is the lead meeting with an accident .. Now after the realization track, they will open the track for the leads for confessing their love for each other (mostly during Valentines Day, it will come by end of Feb), so for that they will bring in the number plate track 🤪
