If I had to describe the show, I would call it flakey and time pass. I am not super invested because there is nothing emotional about it. Randomly dancing, random siblings appearing, random girlfriend appearing and so on. There is nothing connecting these threads and there is no emotional stake to any of the stuff.
What should be taken seriously is presented in almost brainless forgetful manner. Take Revathi's issue. Out of nowhere, she is introduced. So all of a sudden, we are supposed to care about what happens to her. The girl ends up at home and then goes to sleep while her sister and jiju are missing. Right?!
If you are going to be talking about real life issues like catfishing and blackmail, then use these as hooks to reel in the audience and totally explore the fallouts. Instead, it is done in five minute exposition like someone spitting out the memorized physics chapter 1. Most of the audience will forget this mini arc because it barely existed.
They are making it seem like we should care about Revathi but there is no talk about how stupid this girl is. There is no real discussion for the audience where we can talk about how folks are so in love with the idea of being in love that they fall prey to online love scammers. In the last few years, romance scams are some of the biggest criminals.
There is no discussion about why Revathi is sending photos to people she has never met -- What should one do to protect themselves? There is no discussion of cyber police or cyber laws. Yes, individual choice is all there but are you stupidly putting yourself in danger when you send photos of yourself to a random stranger who you have never met. Why are people so desperate for love and relationship that they fall prey to criminals?
Again, no education point on how even with established relationships like people dating for a few years, these photos and videos are then used to blackmail people either for money or to stay in the relationship or to coerce some intimacy. Sometimes, there are idiots who share photos of their ex or gf in whatsapp group with other boys. Why????? 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Then, my biggest peeve is that this mini arc will be completely hidden from parents because appa has heart problems instead of talking it through as a family and finding real solutions. But oh, we don't do that in Indian families which is why these crimes only come to surface when it is parents who report them and have children who actually communicate their issues.
Basically if you watch an episode of crime patrol, all of these would be covered with a lot more gravitas and horror. These are real issues that should be shown more seriously and heart -- then as audience, we would want to tune in because we want to know how it will turn out. We will be on the edge of the seat because we know there is a twinge of reality here.
Even if we see Rishab randomly taking off his shirt and randomly getting stuck in freezer, we would be invested because the buildup from being in arc with serious problems means we would care about what happens. Instead, it is funny and comical. Yea, Rishab looks good and yea, there is chemistry and glances and we are just watching half asleep as we need time pass. Romance without real emotional hooks just falls flat. 🤷🤷🤷
P.S -- randomly tagging people who posted in last few pages. so apologies if I missed anyone.
