Talented actor Ram Kapoor, who was last seen on Sony TV's popular show Bade Acche Lagte Hai has made a comeback with Sony TV's newly launched show Dil Ki Baatein.
Ram Kapoor who is seen essaying the character of Ram in this show, feels happy to be a part of the show. After Bade Acche Lagte Hai went off-air, the dedicated actor was busy with movies and now he is all set to win audience' heart with a challenging role on this show.
TellyBuzz spoke to Ram to know more about the show, his character, and much more...
What made you opt for the show?
It's a wrong time for me to do television right now but sometimes things happen when you make other plans. I had set a target of 1-2 years to concentrate on films as I had film projects in hand. I have one film releasing in May and I have a few more film projects to start quickly after that. Timing wise, it's not an apt time for me to get into something big right now.
This project is so deep and different from other television shows that an actor like me who, is always looking to do something different couldn't say a 'No' to a project like this.
On top of that, Mr. Mahesh Bhatt is involved with this show. He is a man whom I have admired since the time I wanted to become an actor. I have grown up watching his films. I have also had a very good and a successful association with Sony channel for so many years. Everything just worked out so well that I couldn't deny being a part of a project like this. Now, I will be juggling between television and films for a few more years but I won't regret anything.
How will you manage shooting for your show and movies?
That will depend upon month to month. In the coming months where I will have to shoot for my films then in that month itself, I will be occupied with television half month and half for the movie. In the month where I won't be having any shoot for films then I will give a full month to television.
What's your take on the story of the show?
It's a story that has not been taken up by a television show or even in the films. It's the subject which has not been addressed in our country yet. It's definitely a subject upon which one should think about. There are many families which go through it. We are not going to take sides and prove about the correct or the incorrect but it's something which will make people think about it.
Now, Gautami has also made a comeback to television with Tere Sheher Mein...
I am very happy that she is working now. She took a long break from work because of the children. I am happy that she is doing a very respectful show with a very nice channel and she is very happy and that's what matters. We work hard that it should be all about our happiness. She isn't working for money as she has the luxury of sitting at home and taking care of the kids but she wants to work so I only told her that to listen to whatever she wants and what will make you happy.
How do you feel when you look back to your journey so far?
I consider myself very lucky whenever I look back to my journey. The industry has lots of talented people who are struggling. I have worked with lots of such talented people who sometimes have work while sometimes don't. I have seen lots of ups and downs in life too. Every day that I get to work is a gift. I enjoy working now same as like I used to do initially.
Do you feel yourself connected to your character on the show?
In this show, I am more connected to my character than I have been in any other show because of the fact that even I have two children - a younger son and an elder daughter. A father who has daughter can only understand a bond between a father and a daughter. Nobody can change you and influence you like a daughter can do. My wife, my mother and everyone tried to convince me to quit smoking but nothing helped but my daughter just said once to me to quit smoking and I since then I never did just because of my daughter. So, I can relate to this project really well. I don't want people to think that I am acting. I will try my best to make my performance look real.
It's being said that the show is revolve around tragedy. Please comment.
The show is not about a tragedy. Tragedy is the beginning of the story. Something very tragic happens to a very loving family right in the beginning. After this tragedy, the man hits rock bottom and we all come across such situation in our lives and then you feel that your life should end as you can't go down anymore. This is the time when you try to get your life back on track with the help of your loved ones.
This is what the story is. The journey of the story is not about tragedy but it's all about from absolute rock bottom how you will pull your life back. You will find the story very inspirational. There will be times where the child will become the parent and the parent will become a child.
