May be Ram has thought something very clever purposefully gave the power of attorney to Khush , may be it's his plan to bring the real culprit infront of everyone. May be he would have thaught that by giving power of attorney to a single person , all will fight for his property and then the true colors of each and every face of his family member will come out. Before this murder charge on him he suspected many people including Vikram and was told that his enemies has increased and they are both inside and outside of his family. So may be by this plan/ way he will make to bring the real murder out as the murder may have killed sammy for money and for Ram's property and also by this he will able to find out which family member is standing in how much water and whose real intentions are what .
