but in the TV industry its exactly opposite.Women get paid more.the shows are women oriented.during teh era of K serials it ws all the women used to get paid much much more than their male conterparts.
yes there were exceptions like ROnit,Ram etc who were/are very popular.
Bt yes in todays times some male actors are equally/more popular.and get paid accordingly.
Bt in TV its nt the case that women are discriminated against.
if you see many CVS/writers producers are women.
1.EKta Kapoor,her cvs fr BALH,PVR..all are women.
2.Gul khan who makes Qubool hain..
3.Rashmi sharma who makes sathiya.
the list is very long.
yes in bollywood and other fields as u sa the bias is there.bt not in TV..

Did you actually read the article?

Please tell me in what way ST is any LESS than RK? MANY people, including me, think she is a MUCH BETTER ACTOR than RK, and yet she gets paid less than he does. If that is not discrimination according to you, I would like to know what is.

RK and ST are both equally good actors. Both have their strong points and forte. Saying ST is a better actor or RK is a better actor is injustice to both these talented actors. And no, I don't think ST is a better actor than RK. Both of them shine as actors and at times, both have had their bad days too.

As far as the payment goes, I think the criteria of payment depends on the market value of the actor. How much of work the actor has in his kitty, how much of demand there is for the actor etc. It's the same as Bollywood, everyone from Shah Rukh to Salman to Hrithik to Deepika to Katrina to anyone else...their salary scale differs according to their market value, how much in demand they are. This is the norm and I don't think that there is any sexist or any other kind of discrimination.

1. Your view that RK and ST are equally good is your view - and as far as I am concerned that is not true: You can go frame-by-frame through the last few BALH episodes and I can show that in probabilistic terms ST is always going to be better than RK

2. Market value is what it is about! The "market value" for women is consistently discriminatory in almost all the professions in most parts of the world. If it doesn't annoy women, it should.

I think the article has it numbers wrong. Ekta has herself said in an interview to TOI that she pays both actors the same. So Ram and Sakshi both get paid the same( as they should). Please see the following link to the TOI interview.

Sorry, I don't agree. A few episodes doesn't determine who is better than whom. Like I said, every actor has his or her bad day or episodes. I am sure that for every frame you point out, people can point out other frames where ST wasn't as good. But it's your opinion and I don't want to argue here. I still stick to my opinion that both are superb actors. As for market value, I am sure there are women actors who earn more than their male counterparts. Okay, I've said my bit...not going to argue on this anymore.

Many Congratulations to Ram for topping the actor's chart in earnings. Mind you that's just half the month ;-) He still does other shows based on producer and Industry requests, advertisements and not to mention his movies. The man is at the golden peak of his career just like he did during Kasam se and raking in the moolah! Kudos!!

Sakshi is one of the top paid actress in the industry and kudos to her! I think Mona, Shweta and the league are paid the similar amounts due to their talent and experience in the Industry. And she does advertisements which should add to the current amount shown.

Let's not bring in women and pay scale here. I think that's absurd Atleast in the TV industry. It's a brand value and recall apart from talent paid industry. I doubt OM got paid as much as Parvati during KGGK! It's just depending on the production house contracts they had at that time. Usually TV is a woman based Industry and except for the rare Ram, Ronit etc, the men usually get a raw deal.

As for as acting chops by the forum critics, unfortunately we don't seem to be the determining factor of pay scale. And I agree it's unfair the female lead needs to deliver such lengthy dialogues while the male lead had to emote and walks awy with the top most salary. Not fair eh? But again there must be a very valid reason by EK who isn't gonna throw away a 1.25 lacs per day to Ram ;-) Someyhing that's beyond the naked eye of the biased audience who have their favorites

Oh before I forget about the other article quoted, I think in a month both RK and ST make similar amount. Apparently this article quoted Ram gives 15 days and ST gives 25 days! So EK might have mentioned the overall pay being similar :-)
