Love your take! and I liked the first part of the episode too, must confess was caught off guard! It was realistic, and I know sisters being different and wanting different things all too well...

As much as I hate the twist and the nautanki that comes with the territory... I like the portrayal of what different individuals look for in a marriage... how some choose to compromise and some hold on to their hopes, dreams and aspirations, not settling for second best and waiting for 'the right one'...also, how between parents they want 'different things' for the same child...can't fault the intentions of either!

@Vasu & Natz: For the details explained by Vasu, I will have to watch the epi. My opinion is completely based on previous observations. 😊

it may be naive to question, but if we are to generalise for once, who ends up being happier? 🤓 I think our society still doesn't have room for Priya's kind and even though I personally feel we're miles ahead of Ekta's portrayal of what a woman in Priya's situation goes through, we're still quite far from where we'd like to be

Vas, I wish I could triple like your post!!!!!!! I had the exact same thoughts that you had about the episode and Ayesha!!! After hearing about the episode, I was like - oh crap, they just ruined Ayesha- but the epiode turned out to be refreshingly good.
I do not like the plot contrivance or the easy writing that brought us to this episode, but I am no longer that angry that it happened if this means the stupid contrivance gave us such a character heavy episode. Especially one where certain characters were rounded out.
Ayesha: I think just last episode/analysis, there was talk about Ayesha and how different she has become from the original impression. This episode managed to finally bring both these aspects of Ayesha together. Ayesha is far more materialistic than her sister, but it doesn't mean she doesn't love Priya or isn't a good person generally. She, once again, has different dreams and hopes than Priya. It doesn't make her wrong, just different . I think I like this Ayesha even more than yesterday's Ayesha, because now she is reacting to things directly related to her, rather than being simply Priya's sister.
Another thing, I am glad they kept consistent with Ayesha's character and kept her quiet for so long while the grown up decided how to handle the matter. She only spoke up when it was utter chaos, and even then she addressed only Priya. The scene where she is willing to give up her ultimate dream if her sister says so is very sweet. And equally sweet, Priya's desire to make sure Ayesha gets exactly what she wants. She feels responsible for the dreams that Ayesha had. Exactly how many of those dreams are the result of their mother constantly adoring Ayesha's "prettiness" is another matter. And frankly, Ayesha's desire to marry a man considerably older than her is as crazy as Kartik's desire to marry an obsessive sociopath.
Karthik: Nothing much except that I really liked that Karthik was unwilling till the end to let this rishta happen. It mirrors the scene when Ayesha declares Nuts to be "unfit" for Karthik. In both cases, it is Priya who says the decision of the person marrying is more important, and while the younger children just say what they think
Sudhir: FINALLY! Somebody noticed how ineffectual Sudhir is. The fact that Priya is the head of the family is finally acknowledged. Also, we learn that Sudhir was definitely a factor in Priya's unmarried status up till now.
Shirpa: While I love Ayesha and Priya, Shirpa- Priya dialogues was one of the best moments of the episode. These two were fighting passionately, and both were right from where they were standing. I loved how even this scene was about Priya being the de facto head of the family. TFor instance, when Shirpa says that "I am her mother" quite insistently, it's pretty obvious that she feels the need to exert her own authority in a house where Priya makes the decisions. And considering her parents are Shirpa and Sudhir, the younger children should count their blessings. I am guessing even Shirpa's striking Priya(not a slap, thank god) is more out of frustration at her own lack of authoirity despite, being the parent in this relationship.
Priya: Every single scene)though, I guess in all fairness, there were only four) revealed something about Priya. Her interactions and relationship with each of her family member is solidified. But the best part is by showing Priya consenting to the wedding and actually planning out the next spets, it really shows her importance in the family, where it counts. And by the fact that she tells her father to go without shows that she backs down when it comes to rituals. I find it highly amusing that she says that it's more important for Sudhir to be there than her, when Ayesha all but said that she needs only Priya's permission to go through with the marriage. Did Sudhir even agree?
Also, adorable: how Priya showed up to the function. It brought to mind that restaurant scene of long ago when Priya was uncomfortable with dressing up, and stumbled a little bit in heels.

Very valid question... but even when we generalize... there is no guarantee as to who will be happier... again definition of happiness varies too... like Ayesha said, some are happy with small things in life and some want to live life king size... of course, there is queen size, for the ones who are ahead of K-serials and can strike a balance, I suppose!😊

Monday roka, Tuesday engagement, Wednesday Roka, Thursday? What do these people do apart from Roka-Engagement-Roka? By the way har occasion ke liye naye dresses bhi tayyar hote hai.. Did anyone notice Ram's expression when everyone came rushing in the room. I could see the joy on his face as if he felt that he was important for his family.. Vikram was surprised too..
Priya with the knife in her hand i thought she could stab someone.. Ram ki khair nahi.. Then starts the cat fight.. shipra v/s priya.. Both were at their best trying to convince their point of views... At that moment i was thinking why isn't Aisha saying anything.. she doesn't seem the obedient type.. Finally the father had to step in to separate the two.. I couldn't believe Shipra pushed Priya during that argument... Finally choti beti spoke up.. I dont understand her character.. she confuses me.. At times she shows this maturity but today😕... She agreed to marry Ram kapoor because he can provide her the comforts which she cant afford.. Being middle class is not a shame.. Everyone has to work hard to fulfill their dreams.. But the thing is most people want to earn easy money.. in this case marry a millionaire.. He earns and she spends.. Ram is nothing but an ATM card for everyone (courtesy Vikram).. Aisha needs to grow up and start differentiating between fact and fiction ( her prince kahani's).. What if Ram gets bankrupt in the futuret? would her husband still be the Rajkumar for her? People relate to this word differently.. For Aisha its a rich guy who gives her all the comforts.. For Priya its her ideal man who she can relate to. who can keep her happy in life.. not necessarily with money but with simple ideals.. I wish there were more of Priya's that Aisha's in this world..

Priya simply closed her eyes when her little sis said yes... I felt sorry for her.. She tried to give her sister everything in the world but her greed would not end.. I dont know if this was a lesson for Priya because she fulfilled all her sisters demands (buying designer stuffs).. You don't give anything in excess to spoil a child..

What was all that aerobic and face pack thing?? ek he din mein patle aur gore ho jayenge? waste of time..

Ram was surely pissed off when he saw priya entering late.. He did not like the way she was dressed but i think she looked pretty.. i cant wait for tomorrow's episode.. don't know what will priya say.. aisha's and everyone else reaction...Most of all i will be sorry for Priya because she does not deserve to be unhappy..

Natz - I think we are closer than we think to the Pride & Prejudice mould of "how women should be". We should be accomplished, and pretty, and witty. Failing all that, we should be filthy rich. The specifics might have changed, but essentially we are stuck in the same trap - we should be articulate, intelligent but not too intelligent (not a "bluestocking"), we should know how to drive, how to dress to impress, how to behave in certain situations, how to be a good mother, how to please a man, and we should be drop dead gorgeous. And failing all this, we should have a good dowry to entice the flies .

I'm not saying that this is the scenario everywhere, in India or worldwide; but women's "rights" certainly aren't where they should be, or where we are misled to believe they are.

@others - excellent posts - will respond in the morning. Night!

Brilliant post & equally gr8 comments to the post!
👏
I actually had tears in my eyes when Ayesha gave the speech...i cud empathise with Priya. When your siblings grow up & are of the verge of taking decisions which seem wrong to u, it is pain personified...but u have to let them make the last call.😔
Am Happy Ayesha got to voice her opinions & the actress got to showcase her capabilities.👍🏼
Ram's family is so...blaaah!! 🤢The last dialogue by Vikram in the room made me think...r Niharika & Vikram open about their differences?? then, that means...Ram knows what his family is like..& he chooses to care for them! Otherwise how can Niharika & Vikram co exist in Ram's life???🤔

Somehow, I get the impression that she's the one sibling to whom Ram means something. Not too sure if I'm right. As for Ram, I feel that the man does protest too much!! 😉

So true, Nuts is the only one out of the entire family who did not seem "in" on the plot to marry Ram off to Priya. I think a large part of why Nuts is so crazy is because she says/does exactly what comes to her mind, without any thought to consequences. Which means while she is psychotic, she is not the type to manipulate Ram indirectly. Her manipulations are far more direct to be ever associated with the hypocrisy of her mother.
I think when it will down to a showdown between Ram and his family, Nuts would be the one to take his side, because of the same devil may care attitude that has her firing a loaded gun in an office filled with people.
Either way, I am disliking her way less than Ishika, who has absolutely no personality at all.

Ahhh thank you Vasu!! For once I watched the episode so early today and I was eagerly waiting for your post. 😆

I'm glad I'm not the only one that actually liked this episode somewhat. 😛😆 Even though this whole confusion "twist" from Ekta's side is as lame as can be, today's episode did improve the credibility a bit. I did like how this matter was actually discussed and talked about in the family. It felt natural to me too.

Can I just go all out even and say that I actually LOVED Priya's rant today? That wannabe evil team of the mama and Niharika should've seen this Priya. 😛 I so want Priya to yell out like that at those two too, later on! 😈 But seriously, Priya was awesome today with the way she was arguing with her mom...fighting for her sister. And yes, I've been there too with the solid arguing session with my family. 😆 We've had our neighbours complain too because of it. Ah, well they're used to us by now though. Anyways, I especially loved how Priya didn't back down for a second. And the way she goes, "Even if Ayesha herself agrees, I would not let her go through with something like this". 👏 I just loved that determination in her voice as she stood by her decision.

And even that graph of how Priya finally agrees to go with what Ayesha wants was shown well I thought. It was just refreshing how this situation wasn't shown as some "majboori" that either Ayesha or Priya had to agree upon.

And I agree with you about Ayesha's character too. I actually liked the fact that she had a mind/opinions of her own too. And also the way she started to speak her thoughts...you know with first acknowledging all her family members' points of views and then going about what she herself had to say about the matter. And yes, I liked her honesty about it all too. That contrast between her and Priya was shown well to an extent. Ayesha is clearly not as independent, ambitious or romantic as Priya. I may not agree with her as well, but I did like the fact that she knows what she wants and is perfectly clear about it. And she did get her priorities straight as well. I liked the fact that she considered and valued Priya's feelings about the matter much more than her own wishes. You can tell she really loves and respects her sister. I just liked this mutual respect between the two sisters as was shown today. Ayesha gave respect to Priya's ideals, hence Priya also in return respected Ayesha's views and realized she had to take her own decision in the end. The dialogue that went something like, 'we can't affort to let her dreams shatter' was an interesting touch too.

Oh and nice analogy with the P&P reference there Vasu.

So yes, I also liked this Sharma family scene for the same reasons as you. More than anything, it was the natural way in which the situation was discussed that I liked the most. 👍🏼

I found it a little amusing actually too, how Priya got another reason to call Ram "ajeeb". 😛😆

And that bit in the end where Priya walks in late and Ram's reaction to it was amusing too. "Itna time laga ke bhi aisse ayi hai!" 😆 😆 I was totally expecting Priya's entry to be all shandaar and heroine like all decked up and everything. And Ram getting ready to be all mesmerized and all. You know, typical desi soap types. 😆 But it was slightly refreshing how that didn't happen in this case. Priya walks in clumsily, dressed in her own simple style, and Ram is still irritated with her as always. 🤣 Ram dude, did you even see what you yourself were wearing yesterday? 😛And hilarious how he was like, "This is what I'll have to put up with". 😆 I can't wait to see Priya's reactions when she realizes SHE is the one that gets to marry Ram! 😛😆

The rest...mainly Ram's family was avein types as always. 😆 Vikram was the only saving grace though. I liked how he tried to get through to Ram and make him see that Priya was indeed the perfect match for him. 😆 And OH YES!! I liked Vikram's perception there too about Ram's family! 😆 Also, how adorable were Ram's smiles in that scene when the family first comes up to him. I don't know why, but I just find myself going 'aww' anytime this guy smiles. 😳😆

I am looking forward to tomorrow's episode actually. Mostly for Priya and Ram's reactions (as always :P). I like how things aren't dragging atleast. I'd like this dumb twist to be over and done with quickly now please.
