The night was quiet except for the sound of wild animals howling far away in the downhill forests. Sachi's heart and mind were flooded with all sorts of emotions - anger, rage, pain, love . Tears flowed over her blue saree as she silently wept leaning on the wall of the terrace.
She had said angrily - " Aap so jaiye, main bahar chali jaati hoon".
It was after their altercation about "that night". It was after she had admitted about the Kash formulae. Shravan was very angry and insulting. Sachi had retorted equally too.
Now she was standing outside alone in the darkness and Shravan was sleeping in the room . How could he ?? Sachi wondered .
He could not . Shravan could not sleep. Something was upsetting him , he did not know what. He tried to lie on his left side . he felt a sharp pain thorugh his chest. He turned to his right . The pain also shifted its side. He lay on his back and closed his eyes. He wanted to shut the desire out of his mind and body. But the damn thing was persistent . it poked him everywhere and made him restless. He got up and poured himself a glass of water. Under the soft glow of the orange night lamp the water looked like whiskey on rocks. ,
Suddenly shravan realized - he wanted to drink.
He wanted to get drunk.
He wanted to get drunk and do it .
He wanted to do it again.
He drank the water and swaying like a drunken man went outside, He could see Sachi's saree shining blue. He staggered towards her and stood in front of her with his hands on the wall.
"What have you done to me ?", his pleading eyes looked directly into her eyes.
Sachi looked up .. Shravans eyes made her dizzy and her knees gave away. Shravan got hold of her at the right moment , not letting her slip . Touch of their skin sparked the fire .
They both knew - there is nothing in this world that can stop them now.
Stop them from doing it again .
