Very interesting what has been said in the above two posts.

Also, I would like to add Arjuna is only man ( other than Krishna) who enjoyed music and dance and was not always talking about war.

Question to you guys : if we remove the divine aspect, how do you explain the eunuch curse?

Did he just dress up as a woman for a year?

You are right! If we remove the divine part, then, yes, he dressed up as a woman and enjoyed it thoroughly. This shows his zeal for life and it makes him even more attractive. Here, he qualifies as a transvestite.

Also, I would still see it more with the divinity aspect of Urvashi's curse because that is how the story is narrated. Though I find my mind in the plasmic realm while trying to understand these things. Perhaps, this is how the life is with no clear binaries but various shades of grey.

I also enjoy the story more with the divine aspects...makes it more interesting and spicy.😃

All the above opinions are enlightening. My two cents:

Sexuality is fluid. Also a complete being is someone who is well aware and in constant touch with both the masculine and feminine aspect of his being. This is how Lord Shiva is often portrayed in the form of ardhnareeshvara. Also note, how Lord Krishna stands, in the tribhanga position which is a feminine gesture. That way, Arjun is shown as the best amongst all the men and so, one 9f the reasons why the Lord himself chose to act as his saarthi because he is more open and broader in his perspective. This qualifies him not only as the best warrior but also as the best of humans.

Arjun as a eunuch, metrosexual, transsexual, transvestite, etc., are all different and equally relevant interpretations. The most important thing that all this signify is that sexuality is not uni-polar and that wisdom lies in embracing both the yin and yang as the two divine parts of one whole.

This is an excellent post.😊

Lovely take. I would like to believe he is metrosexual :)

Simple reason: Panchali needed a guard (an invisible guard is mentioned in her encounter with Keechak). Arjuna was man enough to volunteer. Men wouldn't be let inside women's quarters. He declared he was a eunuch.

Bheema might have helped, but with his size, he wouldn't have been believed. The other 3 weren't willing OR able.

It could something even more dark. Probably Urvashi and the team there castrated Arjun(she had punished with a curse for life long later that was reduced to a year he could choose)

Arjun returned in that way and didn't expose it to everyone. He never had a kid after the MB war. He utilized it only during the year.

Because I don't find it worth believing that any king who deploys eunuch for their female chambers would be stupid enough to not do even basic checkup before deploying

Yes! I, too, feel like going by the narration mostly. We tend to stretch too much to become too realistic. Not that it is very wrong but what is life without magic, after all!😆 Life itself is a magic😉

Urvashi portion was dismissed as interpolation by CE.
