@Ramkiseeta it just mentions abhimanyu s birth before upandavas and not that he was born before upandavas. His birth being mentioned before upandavas has got more to do with the story being narrated to janemya his grandson

And if he really was oldest and he was 16. That makes the youngest upandava i e, srutakriti 10/11 and that means he was not even born when pandavas went on exile. But this is contray to what is written about his birth that he was born after arjun returned exile hence got his name

He wasn't 16. That's what I'm trying to say. As per Vyasa he was in his 20s or 30s.

Yes but i doubt that he was older to all the upandavas. Specially prativindhya. The citation just mention his birth first which is because he is janemya s grandfather

Of a dark complexion, with white locks hanging down to his ears, that old man of five and eighty years of age, used, for thy sake only, to career on the field of battle with the activity of a youth of sixteen.

Here. Drona's age is mentioned in text. 85.

In no way Abhimanyu was only 16, I think they just added this part to increase his mpact of being a child, He was a child in front of other characters, obviously but if you tell people that a 30 years old child was courageous warrior, they won't call a 30 years aold a child moreover that's what they expect but a 16 years old did what Abhimanyu did, increases the charm of this character

Drona was 85. A boy who was his great grandson's gen would've been in his teens or at worst, early 20s.

Abhimanyu was the heir

Abhimanyu got married before other Upapandavas

His birth is given before birth of Upapandavas

He was definitely older, What reason and authority did Yudhishtira have to denounce right of his first born and give it to Abhimanyu? Unless Abhimanyu was older and he was the heir
