It's amazing how everyone here is saying "be original"....but so many questions in the "Questions and Queries" topic have been about "How do you make a siggy like this" or "how do you get this effect..." Quiet frankly it's annoying. That's one of the biggest challanges of being a Siggy Maker...watching ppl STEAL your ideas. Yes I said Steal...not "be inspired" bcuz that's all I've seen. So, a while bk i closed my shop and took down all the examples...and even now when i put a new siggy as my signature ppl try to copy it. All the Siggy Makers know that copying other ppl's work is wrong (especially those who have been here awhile)...however (no offense to anyone) some of the newer ppl try to do things that other siggy makers do. It's not fair cuz we spend so much time and energy trying to express our talent and other ppl just post it in the questions section saying "how can i make this"....[/quote]
Hey IB, good points!! i just wanted to say something about the concern you brought up. i think sometimes ppl learn only by imitating at first. just as you would imitate a drawing your teacher makes, who teaches you how to paint, the strokes, the curves, the darkness, the contrast, etc. the point is not that the ppl ask questions on "how to make this", but the fact that after the "lessons" are over, they fail to move on. that is what i think keeps them from being a "good siggi maker"...the term "good" is very arbitrary in this case, hence the use of quotes. :)
lets keep the discussion going. :)
