@Rosh, I've been through LJ icons tutorials. A few of them. I've a lot more bookmarked. But I do think we should provide tutorials for those who are enthusiastic to make icons yet kind of new with photoshop. Because frankly speaking LJ tutorials are not for everyone. Certainly not for beginners.

From my experience, LJ / DA icons are like maths. You learn the basic formulas and then apply them; even though the formulas are same the end results will vary. 😆

Tumblr icons are really pretty and easy to make. A solid color layer (or texture) then a gradient fill, then the background extracted image and then the coloring.

Hmm that sounds nice. My all coloring ends up looking same anyway no matter what I change. Coloring inspiration is mostly sano saher cause they make their siggies look very even and like the original pic, nothing extra. I want to achieve that.

LJ- Certainly not for beginners! True that! Icons need patience and a kind of familiarity with the tool. For me, i guess i can never define how I make icons because its just a matter what I like and what I think looks good at that point of time.. Be it composition or textures. But would be lovely if we could come up with a tut for beginners. Any ideas?

I think Desto's gonna be providing an icons tut, am i right desto?
