havent researched on that, but why use illustrator when u got PS😆
illustrator is mostly used when u want vector-based stuff. So like for making tags, we search for vectors.(Vectors are scalable- they can be increased or decreased in size without being pixelated.) Also, logos, u need it to be scalable. As big or as small as possible. Hence illustrator. I think this is just the basic use of it.😆
