i might not b explaining it good but let me try

for example..(i am giving the example from one of my siggies)

after completing with all effects, i applied my text in the last like this



but to bring that kind of effect, i just grab my text layers and put them under all the effects just above the image layer like this



and you can see the effect that it got some red parts and some black

mainly that coloring effect occurred due to the selective color arrangement and applied textures properties
