I live in US and we are quiet far behind but from what i understand from the updates is that the whole situation is getting from bad to worse!!

It makes me really wonder if anyone in the family is REALLY trying to help Astha get over the whole situation!!!

One thing that has bothered me is that inspite of the realistic portrayal of the serial, in a few episodes where Simran had to act in the capacity of a physician that she is supposed to be, it is pathetic. She does not behave like a medical prfessional! Take the scene when Neha was dying. She was not even reday to let her see her baby and then Neha's friend who was a nurse brought Gudiya in!! When she was dying Simran kept tapping her cheeks and kept shouting her name!! Has anybody heard of CPR? When Astha fell from the window Again a similar scene! Sia's Sickness, also a lay-man attitude!

Even right now, doesn't she see any signs and symptoms of her daughter taking alcohol and drugs? In this forum, concerned parents have discussed an option of consulting a psychologist, esp with Radhaji's family history. She is failing as a parent as well as a doctor!

I know Saurav taking homoeopathic pills and everybody making fun of it provides few much needed laughs but it puts other branches of medicine in bad light. First of all there are degree courses as tough as M.B.B.S. to become a qualified homoeopaths and ayurveda doctors and the western world is also accepting the importance of naturopathy slowly but surely!

Well, I think even a normal mom can figure if her child has such drug/alcohol influence. Simran has failed as a mom and she herself agrees to it but the damamge is done.

She has failed as a doctor too:
a) as you pointed she treated/ ill-treated Neha after delivery. The nurse was far more intelligent.
b) I have not heard of any doctor doing surgery of her own family member and Simran used to do it all the time, be it Kavita, Anandi or Neha.

Simran has failed in many others battles of life but I do not want to indulge that here. She can feel the pain of her lonely father, her in-laws without they being mention it, how can she not feel the issues Astha is having?

my post is not meant to be anti anyone. It is just an observation that sometimes things do get so unrealistic that it is hard to remember that Simran is a doctor.

Trupti,
You are right about some things.
Unfortunately even the best of directors out here don't bother about the authenticity of professions and professional ethics and that's what makes our serials so ridiculous sometimes. But then we would have no story to move on.

Was tapping Neha's cheeks and calling out to her when she was dying so cruel and unethical? Maybe.I did not see it that way.Just an act out of desperation I thought.

Regarding Saurabh's homeopathy treatment for everyone, it is one of the most realistic scenes.I know it's wrong to practise any form of medicine without a degree but it's very very prevailant in many an Indian home.

But I have a different opinion on Simran as a doctor, failing as a parent. She has failed like any other parent could have.Being a doctor does not give her a edge over others.Haven't we seen doctors become victims of drugs, alcohol and other forms of abuse.

Trupti all your criticism is very constructive,
like in newspaper columns;I have just given my views.
Hope I have not offended you by disagreeing.

Cheers

Akshata,

Of course not! 😊 We are all here discussing fictional story! Nothing personal!

I too look at this as the director's shortcoming and not the actor's. Also, you are right about the quacks who claim to be professionals. but somehow it is becoming harder to digest that Simran who once got so angry with Astha for cheating in the exam is reacting so timidly to all her dangerous faults!

I am so much looking forward to Manas's entry because it seems that he is the only balanced, mature person.

She has the same easy going, passive attitude towards her work...that's why she looks like she's uninformed or doesn't know what she's doing...most people have a different side to them when they are practicing whatever their profession may be. 😕

I also live in the US and I did not like the way they handled Astha. Because when a person has genes of insanity in the family history then Simran being a doctor should have been shown in a more practical approach.
