OK, I asked Nisha this question, and I'll as you as well.. What would you do if you meet Simran? 😉

Oh, OK! I would not have minded it even if you asked me directly:-) Do any other such situations come to your mind?

If I meet Simran - I may ask her about her role in Astitva, how long the show will last, etc.. I may also ask her a few things about herself. Not sure though. There maybe too many things on my mind at that moment and I may get totally mudled..:-)

Yup, i am a typical leo 😊. I think people on IF (at least) find you compatible...and it is probably a result of your patience and diplomacy which i have to give you kudos for!

"Man, Woman, and Child" is different in the sense that the wife finally does accept the child, but the child was brought up to be very independent by his mother and he requests to go back to France. Basically, comparing it to Masoom, in the end when the father says 'bye' to his son, its the end of the story. Most of the story is the same, there are some differences which are quite expected as a result of cultural differences. I would recommend "Acts of Faith", "Doctors", "Prizes" by him. Awesome books. And of course "Love Story" and its sequel are both popular - but i dont like them as much as the others.

Oh, I am glad you think I appear compatible.. That's nice to know. Honestly I don't perceive myself as a very patient person but glad to see that that's not how some others perceive it. Thanks for the sweet words..

I certainly must read the books you mentioned. His only book I have read is Only Love..

Doy uo work long hours? If so , who takes care of you daughter?

Who is your favourite actor , actress, film?

Hi Sree, That's not a problem at all. I completely understand and I hope your mom is better now. Though I did miss your participation in the discussions I was pleasantly surprised to see that you got a chance to log in!

How many siblings do you have?

I have one elder brother who lives half an hour from where we live..

What is your mother tongue?

My mother tongue is Tamil. I grew up in the North of India so I know Hindi as well.

What is your daughter's name? Why did you not plan for a second?

My daughter's name is Meghana.. We did not plan on a second since both of us were too busy trying to balance a career and home.. I am not the kind who can be a full-time mom as I think I will just lose my patience in no time and send negative vibes out to my daughter..Also, my daughter is very close to her cousins so she never yearned for a sibling. I do not believe in the oft-heard belief (I hear that more often here than in India as it is common for people to have just one kid in India I find) that a kid gets spoilt if they are the only child. I believe that kids can be spoilt whether they have no siblings or 10. I am sure many people in the forum will agree with me on that😆. Actually lots of my friends/colleagues in the US keep telling me that we should still plan on a second, but after a six year gap I somehow don't have the inclination to go back to baby days. LOL. Another thing is my maternal desires have pretty much been satisifed by one..I am not saying that there are no advantges of having a second - just that I don't think it would work for us..

Do you have plans of settling in India?

Yes, very much so.. I like New York a lot but I also miss India no end..I miss it all the more during the bitter Winters and that's when I feel that people in India are generally so fortunate to have more or less moderate weather conditions there.. Of course we have had natural calamities there but then we see that everywhere..Another thing is both my husband and I can do well careerwise in India because our areas of work are such that there are plenty of opportunities in India.

What do you think of the Education system in US? Do u regret your kid getting a schooling in US instead of India?

I think the education system in the US is good in many ways. Of course, in my opinion, we have pros and cons in both systems..One of the pros of the Indian system is - Maths and Science. I see kids in India doing addition and subtraction of numbers in Grade 1 while in my daughters' class, it is not so. We have taught her at home so she is good at it.. Another con about the US Education is that they start a second language rather late, when they are 11-12 years of age or so..Some of the pros of the US Education system - lessons are not restricted to the classroom. They have field trips almost every month where they have a practical demonstration of what they learn..Also, for some reason teachers seem more friendly and approchable here (of course things may have changed in many schools in India also through the years, I don't know). I don't mind my daughter going to school in either places as I finally thing it is the parents' guidanace that counts..

What specialisation has your husband done?

My husband is a Surgeon..

Doy uo work long hours? If so , who takes care of you daughter?

Sometimes I do need to work late hours, depending on the issues that come work at work, emergency fixes, etc..Our parents have usually been around to help us and if they are not, my daughter goes for an after school program.

Who is your favourite actor , actress, film?

I have more than one favourite actor or actress:-) I like Preity Zinta, Gayatri Joshi, Madhuri Dixit..Among Actors I like Amitabh and SRK. I like films like Golmaal, Filhal, Kal Ho Na Ho, Swades and Masoom..

If you want to change one thing in IF , what will it be?

I think IF is doing pretty well really - which is why I guess I am so hooked to it! I have seen improvements in it over time..So can't think of any major change really. I will let you know if I do think of any..

Wo would you want to be in the Hot Seat in the coming weeks? Why?

There are many people in this forum who I would like to know more about including you:-)! So, can't pinpoint to just one person who I would like in the Hot Seat..I leave that to more well informed people like you and other moderators:-)

Which character do you like the most in Astitva? Why?

Right now, most of the characters seem so very unreal.. I started watching it and was attracted to Simran's character but now she is being portrayed in such an unreal way.. I liked Manas but was disappointed the way he behaved after he started sharing a relationship with Rhea and neglected Sonu's needs and yearnings and flaunted his live in relationship with him..I hope he comes back as the old Manas. Anandi was one character I really liked - but was so disappointed with the tragic end she met.

Sorry i guess many qs here would have been repeated. I had no time to read this thread and then ask qs....

Not a problem! I enjoyed answering all the questions..

Oh, Shabana does accept the child - whole heartedly. What krutilynn and I meant was that in the book, "Man, Woman and Child", the kid does not become part of the family - unlike the movie where the movie ends with a family portrait that has Rahul sitting on Shabana's lap!! In 'Man, woman and child' the woman decides to accept him but he leaves..Did you get a chance to read my reply to Jen (Page 3)? I have pretty much written out the gist of the story there. LOL. Let me know if you have other questions..

Oh, I loved them too. I preferred Malorie Towers to St. Claire's though and I still remember I liked the character of Alicia at that time. I also liked the Secret Island and the rest of the series, also the Adventure Series with Kiki the parrot. I am just getting nostalgic thinking of those books.. If I lay my hands on them now I will still read them for the sake of doing so and not get bored! I don't know if that is the case with others too.. I find they are not available in the American libraries - so getting hold of them here is not easy..
