Okay, I have finished Twilight and New Moon... going to start Eclipse 😛 😛
My review for Twilight:
This is my first fantasy-romantic novel. My very first observation about this book is that it can actually let you "Feel" how it is to be in love. Its very emotionally controlling book. It was like experiancing a totally different scenario. It made me remember my Harry Potter days where I could actually imagine studying Defense against the dark arts 😆 😆 {Please Don't misunderstand me. Twiligh series is faaaaaaaaaarrr from HP series. There is only one thing common which is fantasy .. Stephenie is good but JK is a Genius! I will come to that criticism part later 😉 ]
Second.. Its category is Young Adult.. Downright teenage book. Soooo I expected Characters to be like that. 😛 But No! Surprise again.. Bella's character is far from being a reckless lovey dovey teenage who is thinking all about boys/fashion or something like that..etc etc. She's a girl who thinks very analytically, calculates options, Cleverly makes opinions, mature [giving space to her mom after her remarriage], Very very observant [YES!! Edward was wrong about that.. SHE IS OBSERVANT 😛 😛 ] She's manipulative too [The Jacob case] And then she also made her clever saving-plan from James[at the end] Basically.... A story about ordinary girl having extra ordinary situations -- A love with Vampire!
But then, she also bugged me in her Damsel in distress tripping falling fainting problem. Then we had cliches of hero --no.. Vampire.. the goody Vampire in this case-- Saving our Bella numerous times. I could'nt understand her insecurity about her looks [Or was that down-to-earth approach when boys were after her 😕 I don't think so 😕 ] Her self-pitying was there too.. Sometimes she was over-depressed about Forks with no hope about moving there.. or was that adjustment problem.. I don't know. So in short, I am 50/50 satisfied by bella's character in Twilight😛 [She improves and redeems herself in New Moon. I HAVE To admit that 😛 ]
Now moving on to Mr. Perfect -Edward Cullen. Oh-My-God! Take out his vampire element and he is every girl's dream. And I think that Meyer's series are a hit more because of Edward Cullen... That is why Midnight Sun is coming.. Hmmmmm.. Ms.Meyer.. its good money there! 😆 😛 😉
But still, I felt he had controlling issues at times. He was .. should I say depressed? No, gloomy? Something like that. But you can say its because of his "Age" or his Vampire existance.. Though he became cheerful with Bella.. Guess I have to peek into Midnight Sun [Okay! I know ... I admit I am not immune to Edward. I want to criticize him but... its stuck in my throat now 😳 ]
I like the idea of introducing Vampires in a different light..in different world. A Vampire family trying to compensate their
monstrous side by replacing animal blood... And leading their lives studying, travelling rather than dreams of ruling the world or murdering humans. More humanity than humans. Carlisle saving humans, his children studying different fields.. What a fabulous use of immortality! That is so so fascinating. Then Meyer did a GREAT job in making them feel real by breaking several cliches and myths. It felt like Harry Potter invention [Though no comparision..I add that again!] I mean.. This book is cool in this way!
Now one of the best parts of this book is its COVER ART! Yes, that is so ... I dont't have words to explain it. Its mysterious and attractive in many ways. I mean.. There are times when such simple things can convey millions of concepts at once and when I got to know that it represented Bella's knowledge of good and evil.. it became more meaningful .. more beautiful.
The story of true love. I think.. its something we all yearn for.. we all want. I think this is the basic reason which makes this book irrestitible and once you start you can't put it down. Its more than just girlfriend boyfriend relationship. So Deep. So pure. So attractive. This is Meyer's first book so I met quite repetitive words which was a bit annoying. Then we got to know about Edward's extra ordinary looks and his charming ways every other page .. I mean.. once in a while is good but I felt that in order to be descriptive she went a bit more in that department 🤔 [I don't want to complain but still.. 😛 😆 ..sigh ]
In short. Its worth reading. Its compelling and light read. Good escapist tool 😛 😳
PS: I wonder if anyone would read this thesis of Twilight 😆 😆 Seriously.. I wonder sometimes I write too much. Sorry for boring you, chingus 😳 😳 😳
