Folks... this is a thread that pays homage to cold brooding and devilish heroes.....in other words ...heroes that act like anti heroes and thier relationship with other characters.....let us start with GOONG this week

Goong......

What do you think about shin's character? is it something that is more of a necessity for royals.

Why do you think he behaves like that...how does yul come across looking more sensitive even though he too wears the same brooding expression.

why did he choose chegyung over hyorin .......would we ever admire a person like him in real life

do you think jhj was able to do justice to shin's character....what do you think of the fact that he finally abdicated the throne to his sister.

do you think chaekyung was right choice for him.....the fairytales in real life are never sucessfull

Yay............ I finally found a place for GOONG!!!!! Totally love you for this, PJ😃 Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuu...😃

***** Spoiler zone: Read at your own risk😛*****

Chaenyung: At times this lady went over the top. But I really liked the family chemistry. The way they are casual is ssoooooo natural and normal families do keep a place for humor in hard times...its not weird. I liked her progression from a teen girl to an adult. She needed comfort. She was lonely in the palace. But I really can't get the whole "White" character [it causes me indigestion😛]. Later on she is offering friendship with Min Hyo Rin😕 She knows that Hyo Rin is NOT her well wisher. She still thinks of her as "innocently entangled" after Crown Prince's Thiland scandal *Clubs my head* She is soooo good that Royal family tells her to go overseas and she is ready?!?!?! What is with the apologizing scene ..... [that one in ISWAK and this one with the King... I wish there was some other way of solving problems logically rather than just being over dramatic🤔]. Even her parents say "you are great"😡[Im sorry... I really despise the ideas where female is shown the bali ki bakri stuff. It pisses me off🤢 please bear with me😳] Why was she so comfortable with Hyo Rin and Shin's relationship..why she didn't get herself the status of "Wife"...Why act so WHITE!!??!!

But I liked the way she struggles and beats Lee Shin. She at least vents her frustration on him. She is not a silent bakri after all😆 I loved her anger erruptions. Take it out. Blah. Poof. Blast! 😆

Lee Yul Goon: A very complex character. I liked him. I liked his way of philosophizing [is that a word😕 but who cares!😆] things in his own way. How he also manipulated his sincere intentions [well on individual level he was very sincere to Chaengyung if you take the 'loving other man's wife thing" out] But he lingered on his past. He was self-pitying..which went a bit boring later on. He ... didn't grow😕 he was stagnant. One thing I didn't get...was he really ambitious to be King or to get Chaengyung. If he was ambitious with Chaengyung [CG]...he would have just told the "Truth" to Royal family much earlier in his manipulative ways and get both of them exiled....the time when CG and Lee Shin had enormous problems. 😕 He was smart enough to do that. And he already told his mom that he wanted to live for CG so his mom wasn't even a barrier for him to do that..[Probably I just missed those scene. I watched Goong while fast forwarding😛]

Was he cold?😕

Lee Shin [Crown Prince]: A child stuffed with only "Crown prince" thoughts. He lacks a personality of his own and hence Unable to show his emotions. He is really like Prince Charles: Cold, Trying to fly out, Interest in movies and acting [Prince charles was one of the best actors in his school] After all these things he is still the deciding authority of CG and Min Hyo Rin .. He is really a power corrupted man when he thinks he can control CG with power. AAAAAAAAA .. someone get him a feminist mind!😡[😆]

I can't understand when he said to CG that "Don't take my relationship with Min Hyo Rin seriously" What was that???😕I couldn't understand his mentality! He was serious with her initially when he proposed... Why he was taking his infidelity so easily? Did he wish to have a mistress after marriage from the beginning?? I can't analyse him well.😕 [PJ help meeeeeeeeeeeee!!😆 you are way better in understanding these cold blooded ice creatures😳😆]

But I am happy that he grew out of it. 😛

Min Hyo Rin: A totally depressing character. Was she rich in the beginning [later we were shown that she is in debt with her "Teacher"] Anyways, she wanted to be the "Camilla" and was trying to get Shin until he said no. Totally lost in love. Misguided. Unstable. Stagnant but strong. She is really complex.. weak enough to attempt suicide and strong enough to endure the "Mistress" title😕

Yul's Mom: This antagonist is WORTH mentioning. A woman who is soooooo strong ... independent..ambitious..manipulating.. risk taking. She is extremely wicked [NO 2nd thought on that] but really.. I saw a character who was burnt in hell for 14 years..waited with patiance. Brewed and stewed until required to be this limit-less. On the character level if you minus or take out the wickedness.. and if she was shown in good light..This was supposed to be one of the best characters of the serial. Sigh. she was the antagonist.

Haha great analysis Maryam di!

I guess it's my turn now.

CG: The first time through, her perkiness bothered me a little, but when I saw it again I really saw the humour and the wonderful comic relief she brings to the show. Plus, after watching her in Coffee Prince, I have a newfound respect for YEH. Truly an amazing actress.

Shin: Di, I don't agree with your analysis with Shin at ALL (haha look at my siggy! I side with Shin! XD). Contrary to what you said, I believe that he really is warm-hearted. He's a young high school boy who didn't know the meaning of love. He was the teenager who thought he ruled the universe. He thought life was a game and so he invited CG to be his princess, just to see what would happen. He GREW throughout this series. He grew to love CG, but his prior commitment to hyorin was pulling him down. He has a sense of responsibility. The thing I love the most about jjh is his FACIAL EXPRESSIONS. they're BRILLIANT. one look and you can see the mixed emotions in his heart. He loved CG so much, but since he thought that she didn't love him, he acted cold towards her; ultimately, all he wanted was her happiness.

yul: at first, he's a very sweet guy. he was there for cg when no one else was; an amazing best friend. what bugged me the most about him was that he WANTED cg.. he didnt really love her.. he just WANTED her. therein lies the difference. you can tell, because when you truly love someone, their happiness is the most important thing. and yet, he manipulated her so much... that isn't love. true, she belonged to him, technically, but fate happens for a reason. yul just didnt understand that.

hyorin: more understanding than yul, though she and yul are similar. as soon as shin was out of her grasp, she wanted him. he proposed to her, why didn't she say yes, then? she wanted to be a ballerina and when she got the opportunity, she turned it down for shin. she lost both that way. i pitied her, but, in the end, she was reasonable. it was hard for her to let go, but she did it. i hope she goes out with that green bug guy...

yul's omma: very VERY strong woman character. though she was the "evil one", her character was beautifullly portrayed by the actress. you know when you despise a villain they're doing a good job acting! the funniest moment for me was when she called jk rowling a witch..that made me laugh... a lot...

so i've watched goong twice, and though it's been a while, this is what i can remember. if it was more fresh on my mind i'm sure i could've analyzed more, but i digress..

god help whoever read all of that XD 😆

Diana blended with commoners because she was one of them before becoming the pricess. But I really like Queen Rania of Jordon. See her in Oprah show. So humble and down-to-earth. So good and realistic. So natural and friendly... They don't over-do the ceremonies or stuff like that [some occasions it is needed but they try to avoid] I don't think British royals can do that.. can they😕 Diana's sons were praised for not crying on her death😕I guess the standards are what you wish to maintain.

Why do you think he behaves like that...how does yul come across looking more sensitive even though he too wears the same brooding expression. He was sensitive and caring

why did he choose chegyung over hyorin He was under the impression that like-like attract and make better world. He found happiness with opposite way .. Hyo Rin could never have let him free from his inner cage. She was too depressing for him.

.......would we ever admire a person like him in real life Not me at least. I really can't understand such characters... probably im tooo dense for them😆

do you think jhj was able to do justice to shin's character I am undecided. I found him a bit... in some scenes he stood out. It was a difficult character to portray.. but... I think it could have done better. though I am not sure where he lacked😕 I just have a feeling.

....what do you think of the fact that he finally abdicated the throne to his sister. One final wise decision. I was asking myself :Why aren't they considering this intelligent beautiful and wise lady!!!!!!!! It was needed for both of them to stop this power race for themselves.. their dreams were totally different.

do you think chaekyung was right choice for him.....the fairytales in real life are never sucessfull We have seen Diana. I agree. I guess cold blooded guys sometimes really ruin the other person ... I wonder if they can really change in real life "just like that"😕

Ah let me emphasize my view one more time... just because i want to..

shin was NOT a cold man. he came across like that because of his personality. inside, he was very warm and caring. more so than yul.

haha i think i'm getting to be a very repetitive person.. aaah where are you khush di?! BACK ME UP!

I forwarded 50% of Goong. Don't kill me but it went boring and repetitive after a while. 🤔 Probably Im weird 😕 But I couldn't find it more engaging. Shin and CG's fighting scenes were tooo good. But I couldn't get with the rest 😕 😕

I saw goong 1.5 [Special] too. Where was the guy who played Yul and the actress who was Yul's mom 😕 😕 I think the host and actors [or .. actresses😉] went a bit over in praising JJH

*runs off to save my life 😆 *

hah awesome topic puja di 😃😆
okies let me start with JJH
personally, i think he did TOTAL justice to his role as the prince.....for being his first time acting in anything he was just amazinggg....right from the beginnning to the end - he was the totally arrogant but classy and cool charming prince.....never once did i find (which i usually do in most characters) a gap in his acting....he made the role what it was.....kudos to that.....as for shin's character's attraction to hyorin....i think he was preoccupied with choosing the "right" life partner rather than the person he loved..hence he didnt mind as much getting married to chaeyoung.....

as for Yul's sensitive but brooding characters (not to mention his puppy faces wen he was sad) lol....i think that child seriously just needed some loving..honestly, the poor boy finally found try love in a married woman he couldnt have.....why couldnt him and hyorin just fall in love and be happy....and then he could read while she danced lol...😆
