For me half the dramas I've watch i rooted for the lead and the other half for the second lead. There are a few shows i stopped watching after i realize that the girl is gonna end up with the lead (i.e. Monstar, i think i stopped at epi 4 or 5, but i heard the ending for the show wasn't that great anyways, so i probably would've been disappointed anyways).

Most of the time the second lead is always the nice guy...exception: Heirs (Young Do). In Heirs i was rooting for Kim Tan so I was happy. But the thing with Heirs was that right from the first two episodes I'm pretty sure most viewers knew she would end up with Tan. I did feel sorry for Young Do in some scenes though.

For Dream High I was confused who was the lead and who was the second lead, but she didn't end up with the person I thought she would end up with. But I was happy with who she ended up with.

I'm not just sure if it's me but i feel like i usually feel more sorry for second-leads that are males rather than second leads that are males

I'm not watching Reply 1994 until I know who Go ara ends up with, I already went through the anxiousness with Answer me 1997(but lucikly she ended up with who I wanted her to end up with)

You have no idea, i have left so many shows thanks to the second lead syndrome 😆 i'm still not watching Reply 1994 until the last episode to be on the safer side 😆 Its like you freaking land and i'll board 😆

The first 'second' lead who made me cry buckets was Lee jun ki in My Girl... i still remember tat i didn't mind if the girl ended up with him...they way he pined for her continuously broke my heart...

Even Myung Wol the spy for that matter, i LOVED the second lead (yeah yeah i love Eric Mun more, but hey). The silent, suffering in silence and burying down the angst kind...but then his story with the second female lead was too good too...but they don't end up together 🤔

That's with the second leads...either they don't get the girl, or if they have a diff or alt storyline they die😳 K2H left me heartbroke (jo jung seok 😔)

didn't watch BOF, but HYD i was clear who i was shipping, Domyouji - Makino all the way didn't mind the bad guy there.

Waisey who says Good guys don't get the girl...Kim Tan just did in Heirs na?

hehe even though I liked Eric Mun I was rooting for Lee Jin wook in spy myung wol and yup I'm the same I dropped a few dramas because the second lead doesn;t get the girl(like warrior baek dam soo although I don't think either male leads got her)

I can tell you a few dramas where the second leads gets the girl!

1. Dream High
2. Queen of Reversals (Park Shi Hoo, I simply was blown away by this drama, one of the most beautiful dramas about life and relationships, that I have ever watched! PSH is the second lead, who is so devoted and completely in love w/ the heroine, he gets her in the end! I had a wide smile on my face while watching this drama!)

You know I'm just going to watch Queen of Reversals just because I'm so happy that a a second lead gets the girl😊

I have the same question😆. Most Korean shows seems to have this formula.
I'm also new to Korean dramas. I just watched two shows because its being aired in a Tamil channel. I don't like to watch online. In both these shows, second lead is as good as the main lead in terms of many materialistic things like looks, success in their own way etc. But the second lead in both shows are shown very considerate to the heroine than the main lead. Hero is always seems self obsessed.
But I know how these dramas go, so I never root for second leads even If they are good😆. Infact sometimes I find them annoying / sometimes pity seeking characters. They clearly see that the girl is going towards the main guy, still harp around doing nothing to get the girl atleast and adding only to her and viewers confusion. I find this really annoying.
