second leads in korean dramas

Hey guys!

I am fairly new to kroean dramas however from the ones that I have watched I have noticed that the second leads never get the leading lady when I feel they are better suited and have done much more to desire her. Like for instance in dramas like You're beautiful, boys over flowers, flower boy ramen shop, spy myung wol, strongest chil woo, king 2 hearts(well the second lead lee seung gi guard dies).I feel like the dramas are giving off the wrong message: that if you are nice, the silent lover you don;t get the girl but if you are rude or arrogant or upfront you get the girl?" I don't know what do you guys think?

Haha first, welcome to the forum...

Second, welcome to the wonderful world of "second lead syndrome" ... 😆

it's happened to me one too many times, where I've rooted for the second lead, only for him to end up alone and without the female lead, despite being more charming, more awesome and so much more suited (minus Young Do, who I still wanted with PSH despite being a jerk)

But yes, kdrama's are known for creating such wonderful second leads who usually NEVER end up with the female lead...atleast not that I've seen in all my drama watching lol it's unfortunate but its what makes kdramas so unique...hahaha

kidding, the drama is too old to require such warnings. if you are on this forum and have not watching it, check yourself😆

back to you. hola. welcome to the world of second lead fangirl. like sweetsorrow above, I am feeling the feels almost year round for my second leads. p.s. total trash lover in reply 1994. that man is to die for and his satoori haayeee. *drool, drool* dat accent & that dat ass😉 oppa-ya

I remember this cheesy line from a drama I can't remember and this very well applies to Kdrama women- they only remember the man who makes then cry, not the one who makes them laugh (anyone remember what cheesy drama this is? I know it, just can think of the name atm)

so there you have it.

p.s. k2h second couple was my otp. and their story was perfect. i wouldn't change a thing.

watch it for seung gi or the second leads. just get past the boring ep 1 to the part where the OTP meets in the army games and you are set.

Welcome!!!!😊 Out of all the KDramas I've watched, the only second lead I was rooting for I was Young Do from Heirs.

Thanks for the replies you two!I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way 😉 Just waiting for the drama when my sweet second lead gets the girl! and on a side not I like the siggie(or av I'm not sure about the correct term) of second leads sweetsorrow.

I can tell you a few dramas where the second leads gets the girl!

1. Dream High

2. Queen of Reversals (Park Shi Hoo, I simply was blown away by this drama, one of the most beautiful dramas about life and relationships, that I have ever watched! PSH is the second lead, who is so devoted and completely in love w/ the heroine, he gets her in the end! I had a wide smile on my face while watching this drama!)

You have no idea, i have left so many shows thanks to the second lead syndrome 😆 i'm still not watching Reply 1994 until the last episode to be on the safer side 😆 Its like you freaking land and i'll board 😆

The first 'second' lead who made me cry buckets was Lee jun ki in My Girl... i still remember tat i didn't mind if the girl ended up with him...they way he pined for her continuously broke my heart...

Even Myung Wol the spy for that matter, i LOVED the second lead (yeah yeah i love Eric Mun more, but hey). The silent, suffering in silence and burying down the angst kind...but then his story with the second female lead was too good too...but they don't end up together 🤔

That's with the second leads...either they don't get the girl, or if they have a diff or alt storyline they die😳 K2H left me heartbroke (jo jung seok 😔)

didn't watch BOF, but HYD i was clear who i was shipping, Domyouji - Makino all the way didn't mind the bad guy there.

Waisey who says Good guys don't get the girl...Kim Tan just did in Heirs na?
