Chapter 8
*2 MONTHS LATER*

Jaejoong stopped working and picked up his ringing cell phone. His heart skipped a beat after he heard what the person had to say on the other line.

"I found her Jaejoong…she's living in an apartment in Japan. The place is under Park Yoochun's name." Junsu informed over the phone.

"Thanks bro…" Jaejoong whispered before hanging up. He took a long breath to calm his racing heart. He then dialed another number.

"Get my jet ready." Jaejoong ordered into the phone as he made his way to the door.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~'
"Really…I can't thank you enough for helping me." Sonia said for the umpteenth time.
"Oh stop it now Sonia, that's what friends do…we help each other." Yoochun said, brushing off Sonia's gratitude. His face then became serious as he continued, "I only wish I could do more…seriously Sonia, why don't you just divorce him?"
"I need to think more about this. Divorce is a big step and I need to consider Youngjae as well. I can't deprive him of his father's love…but at the same time I can't go back after what happened." Sonia answered back, getting depressed again.
After a drunken Jaejoong left that night, she couldn't stay in that house any longer. So she took Youngjae and left. Before she even realized it she was knocking on Yoochun's door. He took her in without question and patiently waited until she finally told him everything. Yoochun didn't hesitate to offer her his apartment in Japan until she finally decided what she wanted to do, and she still wasn't sure.
That night scared her to death. Sure Jaejoong didn't rape her…he realized what he was doing before it was too late, but the incident scarred her none-the-less. Did he really hate her that much to do something like that? The fury she saw in his eyes that night…it chilled her heart. Whatever little hope she had from the marriage vanished after that night. She felt nothing now…nothing.
"Sonia are you listening?" Yoochun asked, interrupting Sonia's thoughts.
"Huh? Oh sorry…Umm…what did you say?" Sonia asked, giving her full attention to Yoochun.
"I was asking where Youngjae is." Yoochun continued.
"Oh he's sleeping; he should be up in about ten minutes." Sonia replied. They continued chatting until a knock on the door interrupted them.
Sonia knew who it was even before Yoochun opened the door. That cold feeling returned.
"What do you want?" Yoochun asked in a venomous tone as he faced Jaejoong.
Jaejoong didn't bother answering Yoochun; his whole attention was on Sonia, who was standing behind Yoochun in the living room.
Their eyes met…no one said anything…until Jaejoong finally broke the silence.
"Sonia…" he said affectionately.
Sonia took a sharp intake of breath. The tenderness in Jaejoong's voice surprised her. He never used that tone with her before.
"Sonia, can I talk to you?...Please…" Jaejoong gently requested. He gave a pleading look when Yoochun protested.
Sonia hesitated, but placed a hand on Yoochun's shoulder assuring him. "It's ok…I'll be fine." she said in a soft tone.
Jaejoong gave a grateful look, but Yoochun didn't like the idea one bit. However, seeing the composed look on Sonia's face he decided to give them some time alone.
"I'll be right outside if you need me…" Yoochun said. He gave Jaejoong a warning glance before exiting the apartment.
The door closed gently and silence filled the room once again. Neither said anything until Jaejoong took the initiative to make the first move. He stepped forward.
However, his move made Sonia move back a step in defense as he saw alarm enter her eyes. His heart sank at that…it was his fault after all. It was his fault that she was scared of him.
Sonia cursed herself in her mind for showing weakness. She wanted to look strong in front of him. She wanted to show that she wasn't afraid of him anymore. That she didn't care what he did anymore. Jaejoong took another cautious step, and this time Sonia stayed firm. She looked at him coldly, showing no emotion on her face. But if Jaejoong calling her name tenderly surprised her…what he did next completely shocked her.
Jaejoong went down on his knees and lowered his head as he apologized to her. "I'm sorry…" he murmured softly, "I'm so sorry…I'm sorry for the way I treated you…I'm sorry for blaming you…I'm sorry for hurting you…I'm sorry for not cherishing you. I know that night wasn't your fault and yet I kept on blaming you. I've been a horrible husband…and I hope you find it in your heart to forgive me…" When he looked up, his eyes were glistening and his face held deep regret.
Sonia swallowed hard, an attempt to stop the tears balling up in her eyes. She opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out. She couldn't believe the man kneeling in front of her was her husband, the man who hurt her countless times through their marriage. She saw the sincerity in his eyes, but she could not forget the pain he gave her.
Youngjae's cries saved her from saying anything to Jaejoong at that moment. She rushed to the bedroom and picked up her son, gently patting his back and shushing him. A tear slipped from the corner of her eye before she quickly brushed it away, afraid that Jaejoong might see it. When she turned around Jaejoong was standing by the entrance, his face full of emotions at seeing his son after 2 months.
Youngjae noticed his dad as well. He made gurgling noises and extended his chubby arms towards Jaejoong, asking for his father's touch. Jaejoong excitedly went towards him, but caught himself and suddenly halted. His eyes shifted to Sonia when he realized she was still uncomfortable by his presence and he was trespassing in her bedroom.
Youngjae began fussing when he saw his father stop, and began to whimper before letting out a wail. Jaejoong immediately took Youngjae into his arms and hugged him tightly. He placed several kisses on Youngjae's face and buried his face on the curve of Youngjae's neck, inhaling his baby scent. Youngjae stopped crying and hugged Jaejoong back, liking the familiarity of his father's strong arms.
Jaejoong then shifted his eyes to Sonia, who was quietly watching them. She hasn't said anything to him this whole time. He didn't know what was going through her mind, but gathered up the courage and spoke again, "Please come back home Sonia. It's so empty without you and Youngjae. I want my family back…please…give me another chance…come back home", he pleaded.
After another moment of silence Sonia finally spoke, "How can you expect me to forget everything so easily?"
Jaejoong's heart sank at her words. "You say that the house feels empty without me…My heart's felt emptiness for more than two years now. How do you plan to fix that?" she asked. When Jaejoong opened his mouth to apologize again, she raised her hand, silencing him. "Enough Jaejoong…you've said what you had to say. Now it's my turn to speak and for you to listen…I've wished for you to accept me as your wife ever since we got married. Despite everything you said…I still hoped that maybe…maybe you'll develop feelings for me…just like I did for you…" Sonia paused to steady her quivering voice before continuing, "But you crossed the line that night."
"I'm so sorry about that night" Jaejoong said guiltily, "I was drunk…and I was jealous thinking that you started liking Yunho…" "But that doesn't justify what you tried to do" Sonia said, cutting Jaejoong off.
"Really Jaejoong…do you really hate me that much to attempt something like that?" she asked, her eyes tearing up.
"No…no…it's not like tha…" Jaejoong began to explain but was cut off again.
"Enough Jaejoong. I've had enough. I just don't have it me to get hurt anymore." Sonia stated, her decision sounding final. However, she walked closer to Jaejoong and caressed Youngjae's face, who was completely oblivious to what was happening around him.
"I'll come back home. For Youngjae's sake I'll come back home." Sonia stated. Hope rose in Jaejoong's heart but was crushed again with what Sonia said next.
"Youngjae needs his father, but there can never be anything between us…ever." She then looked at Jaejoong with cold eyes before continuing. "Image is everything right Mr. Kim?", Sonia asked, using Jaejoong's own words against him. "I'll be your wife in front of everyone. The world will see you as a happily married man…but you will never gain access to my heart again. You've broken my heart countless times these past two years…and I refuse to give you that power again."
She took Youngjae from Jaejoong's arms and turned to place him in his baby chair. She then turned to look at a devastated Jaejoong and said in a chillingly steady voice, "You may leave now. I will need a few days to pack everything before I move back with Youngjae."
Jaejoong's heart felt like it was bleeding. He gave Sonia a defeated look and quietly walked away.
Chapter 9
Jaejoong sipped his drink as he chatted with a few of his co-workers. His eyes then scanned the room and landed on his wife…and he took in a short intake of breath. She looked beautiful in her deep green gown and simply took his breath away. She came back with Youngjae a few days ago and things have been alarmingly cold between them. She didn't even acknowledge his presence if they were alone in the bedroom. Jaejoong watched his every step when with her, afraid that he might do something wrong.
However, when in the public eye, things were completely normal between them. Sonia always acted affectionately towards him when in the presence of others…and that killed him. He wanted her touch even when they were alone. He wanted her to look at him with those soft eyes again…he wanted her to get shy when she came too close to him again. His heart yearned for her…He was finally getting a taste of what Sonia went through all those years.
Sonia, who was chatting with a few friends, felt like someone was watching her. She turned to meet gentle gray eyes and goose bumps scattered across her arms. Jaejoong's gaze still managed to affect her. He was half way across the crowded room, and his stare made her feel like they were the only two people in the whole world. It was just them and no one else.
She's been ignoring him ever since she came back to live with him. But she did notice the little changes…Jaejoong came home every night since she came back at a reasonable time. He didn't drink unless at a party socializing…and he held her at night when he thought she was sleeping. His arms would gently encircle her and he would breathe in her scent before drifting off to sleep.
But that didn't mean she forgot the terms she set between them. She broke her gaze away from Jaejoong's and concentrated back to what Yoochun was saying.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Jaejoong continued to watch her, a little sad when she stared back at him with cool eyes before giving her full attention back to Yoochun.

"You seem like you need company."

Jaejoong turned to the owner of the voice to be greeted by a smiling Yunho. Jaejoong's fingers tightened slightly around his glass, but he forced a friendly smile towards the taller man. The two handsome men made their way to the bar and got comfortable as the bartender refilled their drinks.

"Sooo…how's the business going?" Yunho said, starting small talk.

"It's good...and how is your career? Do you plan on modeling again? Your last ad was a hit." Jaejoong said as casually as possible, but Yunho heard the chill in his voice.

Unaffected, Yunho took another sip of his drink. Little did Jaejoong know that Yunho was a smart man. He felt tension the first time he met Jaejoong, and he knew bits and pieces of what happened between Sonia and Jaejoong from Yoochun. That was the reason why he approached Jaejoong tonight, he noticed him watching Sonia from afar and he decided to give Jaejoong a little push in the right direction.

"Well I had a good partner to begin with. Sonia was a delight to work with." Yunho replied smoothly, noticing Jaejoong's knuckles slightly turning white from holding his glass too tightly.

Jaejoong clench his jaw, trying his best to keep in temper from rising. He knew there was nothing between Sonia and Yunho. He was wrong in accusing her that night, but he couldn't help but still get a little jealous at another man being so close to his wife.

"My girlfriend really liked it as well." Yunho revealed, taking pity on Jaejoong.

Jaejoong frowned at the new information and felt his muscles start to relax.

"Your girlfriend?" Jaejoong asked.

"Yea…she actually wants to meet Sonia. Maybe you and Sonia can come to dinner one night at our place." Yunho suggested, easing the tension between the two. Jaejoong gazed at a smiling Yunho. He couldn't help but loosen up to him. He had a friendly aura about him that Jaejoong didn't notice before due to his jealousy.

Jaejoong finally returned Yunho's smile, "I'm sure Sonia would like that." With that, both men came to an understanding and continued chatting about various things.

After some time of mindless talk, Yunho noticed Jaejoong glance at his wife for the umpteenth time and be ignored on all accounts.

"Sonia looks exceptionally beautiful tonight. I always found women to be more beautiful when in an angry mood." Yunho said as casually as possible.

"Excuse me?" Jaejoong said, giving Yunho a surprised look.

"Oh common…Sonia has been giving you the cold shoulder this whole evening. I'm surprised you don't have frost bite on your ass yet." Yunho said in a joking manner. This earned a chuckle from Jaejoong, as it was meant to.

After the light hearted moment, Jaejoong heaved a sigh, getting a concentrated look on his face.

"I don't know why I'm about to tell you this…but Sonia has every right to be mad at me. I've…done some unforgivable things and I won't be surprised if she stays mad at me for a long, long time." Jaejoong murmured, surprised at himself for voicing his most personal feelings to a stranger.

Yunho placed a steady hand on Jaejoong's shoulder, "Maybe you should do something about that. You never seemed the type to give up easily. Hell…that's why you're one of the most respected names in the fashion world. You're known to always get want you want…so why should this be any different? I can see you really love her…maybe it's time you showed it."

Jaejoong listened intently to Yunho's words. Maybe this is why he told his feelings to a stranger. Strangers don't judge him…they simply say what should be done.

"Where are you going?" Jaejoong asked when Yunho suddenly downed his drink and stood up.

The serious mood now replaced by a fun-loving one, Yunho replied in a mischievous manner, "What? I told you Sonia looked beautiful tonight. I'm going to ask the lady for a dance." With that said, Yunho made his way to her, leaving a surprised Jaejoong.

It took Jaejoong a few seconds to process what just happened, before he let out a hearty laugh. He then watched Yunho lead his wife to the dance floor. When Yunho placed his hand on Sonia's waist and said something to make her laugh, Jaejoong raised his eyebrows in amusement instead of jealousy.

Like hell he was going to give up this easily. Kim Jaejoong refuses to admit defeat…and he's through being depressed. He downed his drink and made his way towards the dance floor.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~'
Yunho was happily chatting with Sonia when he felt a tap on his shoulder. They both stopped dancing and turned around to see a smiling Jaejoong.
"Can I steal my wife for a dance?" Jaejoong asked politely.
Amused, Yunho smiled back and gave Jaejoong Sonia's hand before walking away.
Jaejoong pulled Sonia closer than necessary and caught Yunho's wink over her shoulder. He grinned back and pulled her even closer as he started swaying her to the music.
Sonia tried to ignore the feeling of Jaejoong's hard chest pressed against her bosom as they moved around the dance floor. He never asked her to dance during their marriage. Jaejoong was only affectionate towards her when needed, but after dealing with media they usually separated during parties and didn't acknowledge each other until they had to leave. The feeling of Jaejoong holding her so intimately as they danced was new to her.
No one spoke for a moment, with Sonia looking at anything else but him.
"You can at least look at me while we dance Sonia" Jaejoong said in a voice loud enough for only his wife to hear.
Sonia met Jaejoong's gaze with a steady stare. "There is no point in us dancing this close Jaejoong. We never did it before. Why are we doing in now?" she asked calmly.
"Simple…" Jaejoong replied, as he smoothly trailed his fingers down her spine and intimately resting it on her waist, "I want to dance with my wife."
Sonia pulled back a little, surprised at his touch, trying to read his calm expression. She frowned when she met his charming smile.
"What are you trying to do Jaejoong? We agreed that there will be nothing more between us than what is needed for the public eye." Sonia said softly.
"No, YOU decided that...I just decided to not listen." Jaejoong answered simply.
"Excuse me?" Sonia asked irritated, pulling back more.
Jaejoong put pressure on her waist and collided her body with his again. When her jaw dropped at his flirty behavior, he smirked and leaned in close to her ear.
"You heard me…" Jaejoong whispered, "I'm not giving up on you…"
Sonia closed her eyes when she felt Jaejoong's hot breath near her ear, and shivered slightly at his words before Jaejoong placed a soft kiss on her cheek and pulled back. Sonia, at a complete loss of words, simply stared at Jaejoong.
Jaejoong saw the affect he had on her and that gave him hope. He then raised her hand and placed another soft kiss on her knuckles, right above her wedding band. When their eyes met, he gave a naughty grin before walking away.
Sonia stood dumbfounded on the dance floor. That grin…that same mischievous twinkle in his eyes. Was she mistaken?…or did she actually see a glimpse of the old Jaejoong just now?
Chapter 10
*The next morning*
Sonia woke up to the morning sunlight shining through the curtains. She sat up in bed and stretched her arms before letting out a yawn. Last night, she went straight to bed after coming home from the party with Jaejoong. His words still lingering in her mind, she made sure she fell asleep before Jaejoong had the opportunity to try anything. But how will she continue avoiding him like that?...A perfect example is this morning.
Sonia stood up from bed and made her way to the closet, taking out her clothes for the day and placing it on the bed, when she heard the bathroom door open. She turned around and her jaw dropped at the sight before her.
There stood Jaejoong, in just a towel; fresh from the shower…She was married to an absolute God. Her jaw dropped further at his glistening chest before she met his amused look.
When Jaejoong stepped towards her, she took a step back. He smirked at her reaction and took another step towards her…and another…and another…until he saw her bump the table next to their bed. He didn't stop until he was merely an inch away from her, caging her in between his body and the table. He was so close that he could hear her heavy breathing.
Sonia tried to look at anything else but Jaejoong. He was so close that she could smell his morning shower. She saw a droplet of water trail down his chiseled chest and she gulped hard, but she still refused to look into his eyes.
Sonia's heart beat skyrocketed, however, when Jaejoong leaned in. She turned her head to the side in an attempt to avoid his lips, but Jaejoong simply stood there…not even attempting to kiss her, his lips barely grazing her cheek.
Sonia then felt Jaejoong reach behind her and gave a surprised look when she saw him take his watch from the table behind her. Jaejoong then stepped back and gave Sonia an innocent look, as if getting his watch was the only thing on his mind.
She huffed out an angry breath and stomped her way to the bathroom. Once the door closed, Jaejoong let out a soft chuckle and started getting dressed for work.
On the other hand, Sonia leaned against the bathroom door and placed a hand on her speeding heart in an attempt to calm it down.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~''

Later that evening, Sonia waited for Jaejoong, dressed in semi-formal attire. She flipped open her cell phone once again, making sure she read the text message correctly sent to her by Jaejoong earlier that day.

It read:

Yunho and his girlfriend invited us to dinner tonight. Be ready by 6 pm. <3

-Jaejoong

She read the text several times, still trying to let it sink in. Dinner at Yunho's…with Jaejoong. Jaejoong's harsh words from that night played back in her mind. Having dinner with Yunho seemed like a bad idea after what Jaejoong thought of her relationship with him. It's not only weird, but its way out character of Jaejoong as well.

They rarely went to dinner as a couple to a friend's house. They only had to put on the act of husband and wife at social and business events, where the media was present. But other than that, Jaejoong avoided spending time with Sonia at all cost. They always made an excuse when invited to a friend's house…Youngjae was sick…there was too much work…it was always something or the other. Jaejoong's new attitude towards her is something she wasn't familiar with…and she didn't know what to expect.

Sonia was pulled out of her thoughts when she heard the honk of a car outside. That was her cue. She took a deep breath and headed out to Jaejoong waiting in his car.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~''
Dinner with Yunho and his girlfriend was going rather smoothly, much to Sonia's surprise. She was expecting the worst on the drive here. She was sure it would be awkward considering how Jaejoong accused her and Yunho of having a sexual relationship. But Jaejoong was rather comfortable throughout the dinner. Yunho's girlfriend was a complete sweetheart, and Jaejoong chatted with Yunho as if they were long lost friends.
But what stuck out to Sonia the most from the dinner was Jaejoong's laugh. And she had to admit, it was a treat to see Jaejoong laugh like that again. His dimpled smile seemed to light up his already handsome face. It had been so very long since Sonia saw Jaejoong laugh from the heart. She saw him truly enjoying himself after all these years.
"Sonia, be a darling and pass the bread will you?" Yunho asked.
Sonia was about to lift her right hand to the bread basket when she felt Jaejoong grab her wrist under the table. She glared at him only to be met with an innocent look as Jaejoong pretended to concentrate on his food. She twisted her hand to loosen his hold, but to no avail.
When Sonia noticed Yunho waiting and giving her curious look, she smiled and passed him the bread basket with her left hand. She then tried to twist her hand again, but Jaejoong only tightened his hold. And when she glared at him again he simply scooped up more food to cover his naughty smirk.
After a few more attempts, Sonia finally gave up and let Jaejoong hold her hand for the rest of dinner, with him occasionally stroking the inside of her wrist with his thumb.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As they entered their bedroom, Sonia went straight to the dressing table to take off her jewelry. She completely ignored Jaejoong and reached behind her neck to unhook her chain. However, she felt Jaejoong's gaze on her and that prevented her from successfully unhooking her chain. Neither said anything and she continued to fumble with the hook until finally she felt Jaejoong reach for it.

Their eyes met on the mirror as Jaejoong easily unhooked the chain and removed it from Sonia's neck. He didn't move back, however. He stayed right behind her and gazed intently at her through the mirror. He then placed his hands on her arms, lowered his head, and placed a soft kiss on the back of her neck.

Sonia closed her eyes as she slowly fell under his spell. She couldn't seem to move. The gentle press of his lips shot warmth throughout her body. She clenched her hands into fists in an attempt to fight this sensation, but she felt herself slowly losing control when he placed another gentle kiss on her bare shoulder.

The cry from the baby monitor startled both of them. Jaejoong's hold on Sonia loosened and she took this opportunity to jerk away from him. She rushed out of the room before Jaejoong managed to utter a single word.

Jaejoong watched Sonia's retreating back and heaved a heavy sigh. He then rubbed his chest in an attempt to ease the ache he felt.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sonia picked up a crying Youngjae and soothed him. She tried to calm herself as well as her son, but the press of Jaejoong's lips left a tingling sensation on her neck. She still felt the warmth from it and Sonia held her son closer for comfort.
"For the longest time I wished for your father's love, but his cold behavior always scared me…" Sonia murmured as she rocked a drowsy Youngjae.
"…But now I feel terrified. He's slowly melting the ice…and I'm so very terrified…" she softly admitted as Youngjae finally closed his eyes and drifted off to dreamland once again.
Chapter 11
The Panache building was in chaos. But that isn't anything new during this time of the year. The Fashion week was the biggest event of the year. Companies, designers, and models prepare rigorously for this event since it was a race to bag the finale of the fashion week. Only the best of the best walk the ramp during this event, and only the rulers of the fashion world make it to the finale.
And just like previous years, Panache was hosting the finale for this year's fashion week as well. Jason Choi worked day and night to bring his sketches to life and the whole Panache crew scrambled everywhere trying to get everything ready in 2 weeks time.
"Here's the VIP list you asked for Jaejoong" Junsu said, walking in to Jaejoong's cabin. Jaejoong took the list from Junsu's hand and scanned it briefly before approving it. Junsu was about to return to his own cabin before he stopped at the door abruptly.
"Oh I almost forgot…Jason was asking who the show stopper was going to be for the finale. He needs the measurements for the show stopper dress. I suggested Jessica…considering how she already is the face of Panache." Junsu stated.
Jaejoong shook his head in disagreement. "No Junsu. Jessica is great, but she is someone everybody expects. I want to do something out of the ordinary this year. Something that no one will expect…and never forget. Let's hold a meeting in a couple hours to brainstorm ideas." Jaejoong replied back as he went back looking at more details. Junsu simply nodded and left the room.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

*In the meeting*

"What!?...it's too risky Mr. Kim. What will the industry think? And the media will completely blow it out of proportion. We shouldn't take such a big risk for the finale." One of the associates objected to Jaejoong's idea.

Jaejoong gave him a cool stare. After a few moments, the associate started squirming in his seat at Jaejoong's steady gaze. Junsu decided to take matters into his own hands and answered on behalf of Jaejoong. "It is risky…but it's a risk Panache can afford to take. Besides, if this idea succeeds it will become the talk of the fashion world." Junsu replied smoothly. That is exactly why these two men made great business partners. They knew what the other thought.

The associate thought it wise to refrain from arguing, simply because no one went against the Kim's, especially Kim Jaejoong when it came to business.

"It's settled then…we've found our show stopper." Jaejoong concluded, ending the meeting.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jaejoong entered his empty bedroom and went straight for a hot shower to ease his tense muscles. The fashion week was extremely stressful and he wanted nothing more than a relaxing shower and his family's warmth for the rest of the night.
As he was taking his shower, Sonia entered the room as well. She had just come back from dinner with Yoochun and her heart did a little flip when she heard the shower on, indicating her husband was already home.
Though she wouldn't admit to herself, it felt nice to have him home after all those times she spent alone in this bedroom. As much as she tried to give him the cold shoulder, his little antics managed to soften her slightly. She looked down at her hand and remembered their little playful exchange during dinner at Yunho's. A soft smile appeared on her pretty face. It felt like old times again…but even better; because the old Jaejoong was playful, but was never romantic towards her. This time he was both.
Sonia kept on smiling until the buzz of Jaejoong's phone caught her attention. She hesitated at first, but thinking at it might be something important considering how the fashion week was right around the corner, she picked up his phone to read the new text message. Her smile disappeared…and the sadness returned in her eyes.
At that moment Jaejoong came out of the bathroom wearing pj pants and a wife beater. His face lit up seeing Sonia in the room, not noticing her serious expression at first glance.
"Hey! How was dinner with…" Jaejoong trailed off when he saw Sonia glare at him through teary eyes. He went to her in lightening speed and cupped her face.
"What's wrong? Did something happen?" he asked in a concerned voice.
Sonia pushed his hands away roughly and tossed his cell phone at him, taking him by surprise.
"You're mistress is waiting for you. You should go to her." she spat at him and stormed out of the room.
Jaejoong frowned at Sonia's words and looked down at his phone. He noticed the opened text message and everything made sense.
*text message*
Hey, let's have a business meeting at my apartment tonight…if you know what I mean. ;)
-Jessica
*Text message end*
Jaejoong heaved his cell phone across the room in frustration, breaking it in two. Why did she have to text him now!? He stopped sleeping around ever since he realized his feelings for Sonia. He hasn't even been with Jessica since that night Sonia left home. Jaejoong let out a frustrated breath before he went after his wife.
As predicted, he found her in Youngjae's room. He was about to speak up when he noticed the maid with Youngjae in his playpen.
Sonia blinked rapidly to prevent any tears from falling. She dismissed the maid calmly and waited for her to leave the room before she reached for Youngjae still playing in his playpen. She didn't get far, however, since strong arms pulled her back.
"Listen to me…" Jaejoong started to explain but was cut off by Sonia roughly pushing his arms away.
"There's no need for an explanation. You should go. You don't want to keep her waiting." Sonia said harshly as a tear escaped the corner of her eye.
Jaejoong grabbed her tighter this time, "There's nothing between Jessica and…"
"ENOUGH!" Sonia yelled. She pushed Jaejoong back in anger, "I've had enough. I don't even know why I'm so surprised. I was stupid to actually start believing that you changed…" Her tears were flowing freely now.
Jaejoong felt his anger rise as well, "Will you just listen to me! Yes Jessica and I had a relationship but that was before I realized my feelings for you. I haven't been with her for months for heaven's sakes! I don't even know why she sent me that text all of a sudden." Jaejoong said in a pissed off tone.
"Oh please, like I am really supposed to believe that. Even before we got married you've had a playboy reputation. I don't see why that would change." Sonia replied coldly.
"Because I fell in love with you!" Jaejoong yelled. "WHAT do I have to do to make you believe me…?" Jaejoong asked, combing his hand through his hair in a frustrated gesture.
"NOTHING! You can't do anything!" Sonia yelled back, trying hard to not let his confession affect her. "I'm through being hurt. I already told you that there can be nothing between us. I will not give you the power to hurt me again!" she stated and turned around, not wanting to face him.
Jaejoong was about to grab her again when he heard Sonia gasp in shock. "What?" Jaejoong asked concerned completely forgetting his temper. He then followed Sonia's shocked stare and his jaw fell.
There was Youngjae, holding on to the wall for support as he was standing on his own two shaky feet. He gurgled and took a step forward with much effort.
"Oh my God! Jaejoong look! Our baby is walking!" Sonia said as she grabbed onto Jaejoong's arm in excitement.
It took a while for Jaejoong to process it before he let out a laugh. "Common son! That's it…take another step!" he cheered.
With that, Youngjae took another shaky step as his face portrayed great concentration.
"That's it baby…come to mommy and daddy" Sonia encouraged, as both she and Jaejoong watched on amazed.
Jaejoong and Sonia held onto each other with excitement as they watched Youngjae take a few more steps before finally giving up. They both let out excited laughs and rushed to Youngjae. Jaejoong reached first and scooped Youngjae up in his arms. Sonia hugged him as well and the proud parents showered Youngjae with hugs and kisses.
The three of them stayed like for a few minutes with Jaejoong carrying Youngjae with one arm and hugging Sonia with the other. The proud parents beamed at their son. Their baby took his first steps and they couldn't feel happier.
But the moment didn't last forever. Sonia soon noticed her closeness to Jaejoong. The smile disappeared from her face for a second time that night and she pulled away from his arm. Jaejoong's smile also faded as their fight from before came rushing back.
There was an awkward silence between them for a few seconds, until Sonia finally spoke uncomfortably, "I'm…I'm going to take a shower…"
"Uh…yea…yea…Don't worry about Youngjae. I'll put him to sleep." Jaejoong replied just as awkwardly.
Sonia placed a soft kiss on Youngjae's head and quickly exited the room, with Jaejoong staring after her.
