Hey Everyone! I'm sorry to disappear like this every now and then but I'm away for a few days now and I've been spending time with my cousins and family. Also the Internet here is shitty AF. I won't be able to update anytime soon ( I know I said I'll update today) because everytime I try updating the server begins to lag and the WiFi cuts off for some reason.I'll be home in a couple of days so I promise I'll update this week. Also I've been diagnosed with a severe immunity problem and I've been trying to work on my health. What with medication and all that jazz. My sleep cycle is pretty disturbed as well. My weight is that of a nine year old and I've been falling sick a lot lately.

I'm so sorry but i hope you guys stick around.

Chapter 16

If there was anything in the world that ACP Yash Malhotra hated, it was slow results.

Agreed, this was not a case to make haste but still things were moving far too slowly for him. Yash is someone who loves a fast paced life.

Yet the past three hours seemed to pass a little to slow. Three hours ago he deduced that Jameela Akhtar was somewhat similar to their missing research specialist, if not identical. 5'7", dusky complexion, and long black hair.

Immediately after their failure at her once upon a time hideout, Yash had launched into a series of expeditions to fish out the lady. He was currently awaiting news from one such search.

Everything was testing his patience lately.

Kartal smiled in excitement as he watched the Doctor/Professor play around with glass beakers and chemicals. He recalls how he toiled laboriously to get his hands on the missing professor .

The 5 foot something professor's eyes scanned everything he had written down. He looked around to make sure he had the complete set of chemicals. His hands reach out to pick up the tiny vial of a bluish fluid. A smile takes over his lips as he reads the label on the vial. The work of his life, the work that'd make him famous and powerful. Aisha ran her hand in her hair as she realised what this meant.

Another Failure.

They had followed the CCTV footage where the truck sped off after hitting Arjun's car. The entire thing had now led to a wild goose chase, because right now half of the core squad stood in a sea of yellow trucks. Same yellow trucks ,same red designs on the tyres and same phoenixes on all of them.Even the number plate on the trucks were identical MH 0000.

As their boss watched on,his mind trying to put two and two together ,Shree spoke up ,stating the obvious."They've planned this well.Too well. All of these trucks are identical to the ones in the footage."

"No they're not," Says Arjun," The details on the phoenix on the trucks at the front are more minute. But, from then on they get progressively less detailed. It was almost as if they were painted in haste. The farthest one looks as if its a sparrow and not a phoenix. Also," he says pointing at the picture of the phoenix flying amongst ashes on the trucks," Footage Mein Jo Bird thi us truck pe, it had the flames on the left wing. Considering the fact that the camera has inverted the image, the flames are actually on the right wing. Look at these trucks. They have the flames on the left wing. Whoever did this, they messed up. Jameela stares at the little vial in the Professor's hand. The thing that could potentially destroy the city. Something Sikandar had dreamt of doing. Until the pestering ACP had come along. One by one he dealt blows that Sikandar couldn't recover from them. What began as an enmity between a OTT patriotic cop and a criminal, soon evolved into a personal spat, with Sikandar murdering the ACP's wife. Jameela recalls what Sikandar had said about ACP Arjun's wife.

" She was one of us" he had said. "Probably the most daring amongst us. Who would volunteer to enter the lion's den and steal valuable information right under his nose. She met him and instantly won over his heart. The courtship had lasted a few months before they got married. And there began her little game. She would bring tiny pieces of info that helped us in the long run. "

" Then why did you kill her " Jameela had asked.

" Because she was getting too dangerous to work with. She began selling information to multiple parties, some even running international rackets. Something told me Arjun would find it sooner or later. She was a risk, that didn't come with a wax seal of confidentiality. And I couldn't take the risk. " Sikandar had explained." I ended her chapter and hurt Arjun in his weakest point. Win win. "

Back then Jameela was still eighteen, an errand girl, doing a few odd jobs and earning a few good pennies and getting meals laid out for her. When Sikandar had come calling at Pathan's for a girl that could easily mix in the crowd, he knew he had picked a winner as soon as he saw her. Since then, she had worked her ranks upwards under him, doing anything and everything for him. And before she could fathom, she fell in love with a cunning criminal who didn't care to spare her a glance.

As she stood in Kartal's little den she realised how she was continuing to work for Sikandar even after his brutal death.

All for a dead man that would never acknowledge her efforts.

A/N :Hello everyone! I'm back home and I'm doing better now,Alhamdulilah. Thank you for all your messages ; they cheered me up. And just in time too ; my online classes begin on Monday and I'm excited especially about Psychology. Our lecturers have warned us about the load of the work we will be doing this semester because I'm in my third and final year. So there's that.

Since I was advised rest and a good eight hour sleep, I will updating once a week. I'm still continuing with the medications. Again, thank you for checking up on me!
