Part 18
Arjun and Shristhi reached home after completing their shopping and Arjun headed to the kitchen with Shree tailing him for the herculine task for making noddles. Arjun took the apron from the cabinet and wore it .Shree took her apron and was was unable to tie the knots
Shree: Dost. Ye bandho na. Shree se nahi ho raha hain.
Arjun smiling a little to himself, kneeled besides her and took the edges of the apron and tied it properly. He took a pan and poured some water into it and put it on the burner after switching it on. Meanwhile Shree dragged a small stool and climbed on it.
Arjun: Beta Aap jaakar baito, uncle aapke liye noodles banaake lekar aayenge
Shree: Mein yehi aapke rahoongi. Aapke paas aur aapko bataavoongi ki noodles kaise banana hai.
Arjun: Shree uncle ki baath suno. Aap living room mein javoo. Uncle will do it
Shree: Meine kaha na uncle ki mein yehi rahoongi tho yehi rahoongi.
Arjun: Teek hain. Aap yehi raho. Par gas se thodi door.
Saying that he lifted Shree up and then moved the stool little far away from the burner and made her stand on it. Arjun started chopping the vegetables, any body who saw him chopping could easily make it out that he was not used to it.
Shree (Giggling): Uncle aapko vegetables bhi teek se kaatna nahi aata. Sab alag shape and size mein hain. Uncle same size mein kaatno na.
Arjun (Embrased): Beta Iss bar adjust kar lena. Agli baar teek ne karenge.
He tore open the noodles packet, emptied it into the pan and added the vegetables to it. He left it to boil for some time and then was about to unmount it. Shree started tugging him.
Arjun: Beta ab kya hua.
Shree: Uncle Aap bhi na.Aap ko tho cooking bilkul nahi aati. Noodles bhi thik se nahi baana pathe. Ek kaam kijeye, aap yahan hamare saath rehkar Mama se cooking seekho.
Arjun: Aapko aisa lagtha hain ki uncle noodles nahi baana saakthe hain. Ek baar yeh aap kaakar dekhiye fir aap hi kaahingi uncle aap ki mama se zaayda acha noodles baanate hain
Shree: Really Uncle? Shree ko noodles dry pasand hain. Par isme zaydha water hain. Aur aapne to masala bhi nahi dala
Arjun: Oh sorry beta. Uncle tho masala daalna bool hi gaye. Don't worry uncle two mins mein sab teek kar denge.
He quickly put some more noodles into pan and sprayed the masala on to it. At last after sternous effort, Arjun successfully completed the task of making noodles. He transferred the noodles into the plate and took it to the living room. He sat on the sofa, made Shree sit on his lap and started feeding her the noodles. Shree in turn took some noodles and tried to feed him.
Arjun: Beta mujhe nahi chahiye. Aap kaavo.
Shree (Smiling): Uncle it is tasty you also eat.

Part 18 (Continued):

She forcefully made him eat the noodles. She kissed him fondly after he accepted to eat from her hands.
They completed their breakfast and started watching television. This was the first time ACP Arjun Rawte was watching cartoon that too Tom and Jerry and also enjoying it.Arjun realized that Shree had become an integral part of his life. It will be indeed be difficult for him to part from her and bid good bye to her. He would be reporting back to his duty from tomorrow and will eventually become busy in delivering the much needed justice. So he would not be able to meet her regularly and she too would be leaving to her boarding school. He was unsure when he would be able to meet her again and it pained to accept that Shree had managed to awaken the hidden father in him who yearned to pamper her and fulfill all her demands even before she raised it. Shree could become a part of his life, if and only if Saakshi becomes a part of his life. Could Saakshi become a part of his life? If yes what would be their relationship? She was someone for whom he cared a lot and could go any lengths to keep her safe and content. She was not a mere collegue or friend, but some one more important for him. He was possessive about her and could not see her with any other man apart from him. Does not mean he is in love with her? He still could not put a name to the relationship he shared with Saakshi.There was yet another truth, he still deeply loved Roshini and no one could take her place in his life. He only wanted to become a father for Shree at this point of time and the truth was Saakshi is her mother. Couldn't they just live as the parents for Shree from now on? They sure could, will Saakshi be ready to let him into her world. How will the society look upon them? He was not some one who bothered about the society. But fingers would not pointed at him, it would Saakshi's character that would be spoken ill off. Would he be able to tolerate it? Questions were many for which only time could give fitting answers. But he had a strong gut feeling that his heart's yearning would be fulfilled soon.
Saakshi returned back home from her work, only to be invited by rather unusual sight. Arjun was sitting in the sofa with Shree in his lap, watching cartoons and he was listening intently to something Shree was telling him. She was continuously chatting with him and he was rather enjoying it. Seeing the bonding between Arjun and Shristhi no one could tell they had just met couple of days earlier. They had bonded instantly and she could see a different Arjun not the typical ACP Arjun Rawte who was bit a rude, arrogant but the real Arjun who was bery caring and compassionate. Sensing Saakshi's presence, Shree instantly ran to her and hugged her tight. She too hugged her princess tight exbiting the love she had for her. Arjun eyes met Saakshi's and he could see her silently thanking him for taking good care of Shree. He too acknowledged her, but her eyes held lot of pain and regret. He felt it similar to his feelings on Roshini's death anniversary. He knew nothing about here past, but would surely stand by her whatever may come.
Saakshi: Shree tumne breakfast kiya.
Shree: Haan Mama. Shree aur dost ne noodles kaya.
Saakshi: Noodles? Mama ne tho parathe banaye the na?
Shree: Mama Shree ko noodles kaane ka maan tha. Tho dost ne mere liye Noodles baanaya.
Saakshi: Beta aapko Aisa nahi karna chaahiye. Agar aapko Noodles kaana tha tho aapko mama baankar deti. Uncle ko pareshaan nahi karna chahiye tha.
Shree: Sorry Mama
Saakshi: Sorry aapko mujhe nahi Uncle ko bolna chahiye.
Shree (holding her ears): Sorry uncle
Arjun: its ok beta. Sorry ki jarorat nahi hain. Saakshi, it's really not required. Wo bachi hain, use kabhi kabhi kuch alag kaane ki icha hona koyi badi baat nahi. I was not troubled at all. But I think you will be troubled because of the condition of kitchen as it is quite messed up. If you need any help in cleaning it up. I would do it.
Saakshi: It's not a problem. I will do it and prepare lunch for us. Aaj tumne meri beti ke liye itna kuch kiya hai. Thanks for it. Saakshi headed to kitchen to prepare lunch.
