I'm so so so sorry guys. See that's why I don't like long stories. I end up not updating or updating very late. Thank god this is just a four shot :p. Anyway i was too depressed to think about this story but now I'm fine. So here you go :D
Next morning
Sakshi was feeling nervous. She had to avoid arjun. It would have been easy peasy an year ago but now with this changed arjun!
Here arjun was excited about proposing and confessing his love to her. He saw the his cutting chai and instantly looked up with a big smile on his face which dimmed right that instant.
Ria was standing there, again!
Sakshi was avoiding him, again!
He thought it was sakshi but it was ria, again!
He doesn't know what the hell is happening, again!
He just nodded and went back to reading the file. Ria was quite disappointed with his reaction and decided to clear it out once and for all.
'Arjun sir aap..aap wo i mean' but what was she going to confront him about? It's not like he gave her any wrong signs or signals. It was not like he was even behaving rudely with her. He was just behaving the way a senior should. So what she confront about?
'Haa bolo' he looked up wondering what is it now. He was already very pissed off with sakshi's hot and cold attitude and in no mood to listen to anyone.
'I love you' ria blurted out without giving a second thought to it.
'What' arjun shouted shocked out of his wits.
Ria got scared seeing his reaction. His what was not 'omg what a wonderful surprise' what it was rather a 'how dare you even say this' what. There was not an ounce of happiness on his face which made her see what she was not able to see till now. It was right in front of her and she ignored it. He was not interested!
'I..i mean i love your watch' she rectified not wanting to loose the only thing she was left with, his friendship!
Arjun was relieved to say the least. He looked at his years old watch with confusion and then looked back at her with the same expression. She didn't wait for his reply rather gave him a sweet smile and fled away.
He knew something was fishy but didn't ponder much instead concentrating on the one source of his tension these days, miss sakshi anand!
Sakshi was arranging her files into a neat pile so that she could make space for her lunch just when arjun came there.
She looked at him then looked back at her desk not wanting to meet his eyes.
'K..kuch chaheeye tha' she asked nervously
'Haan' he said and holding her elbow in one hand and her tiffin in the other he dragged her straight to his cabin not giving her a chance to protest.
A deep silence prevailed as everyone saw this. Arjun sir dragging sakshi like that! This is not something that happens everyday! But ria knew what it was. Arjun lived sakshi. It was always sakshi she thought with a sad smile.
'Arjun ye tum' sakshi asked shocked
'Kyo dost ho na tum meri mere sath lunch karne meh peoblem hai?' Arjun challenged her
'N..nai mujhe kyo problem hogi' she said with a fake smile then sat down arranging the table for bith of them
'Sakshi mujhe pyaar hogaya hai' he said and she instantly stood up.
He is in love? So she was right! He loves ria. Her heart dropped in her stomach. How would she ever be able to see them together like this. No no no!
But then she is his friend. She has to be happy for them and wasn't this what she wanted from the start, his happiness. So what if she is not a part of it. If Ria is the one who makes him happy then it's good. Anyway Ria is far better than her!
'Omg congrats arjun. Ria bhaut achi ladki hai. Tumhe bhaut khush rakhegi. Aur tum dono sath meh ache bhi toh kitne lagte ho. Tum..tum jaldi se usse propose kardo' she said trying appear enthusiastic when all she wanted was to cry.
Here he stood surprised. She was assuming he loved ria!
'Sakshi..' He took a step forward but then noticed her small step back. Why was she trying to get away. Then he looked into her eyes. Tears were brimming in her eyes but she was trying to cover it all up with a big smile. Fake smile.
'Sakshi tum galat' but she again cut him off
'Mai sabko batati hu. Nai nai abhi nai batati. Pehle tum ria ko btado. Par dekho dhang se propose karna. Candle light dinner ya fir love letter?' She blabbered trying to fill up the void that was filling up in her heart.
Here arjun was getting angrier by the minute. She is just not ready to listen but he knows why. She is afraid if she stops she'll break down right away!
'Sakshi' arjun shouted holding both her arms. He pinned her to the wall forcing her to shutup because of the proximity.
A tear trickled down as she closed her eyes because of the impact. A sob broke out echoing in the whole room.
'I..I'm sorry arjun. M..mai khush hu tumhare lie. W..wo bas mai..mai I'm I'm sorry' she sobbed not able to say anything at all.
'Shhh' arjun hushed her joining his forehead with hers wiping her tears with his thumb and forefinger
'I love you sakshi' he confessed not knowing what else to do to stop her tears.
Her eyes clashed with his as his words registered in his mind.
'P..par ria?' She asked innocently
'Ria nai sakshi sirf tum' he whispered lovingly
'Jab mai har roz apni zindagi se jhunj raha tha. Jeene ki ek wajah dhund raha tha tab wo wajah tumne mujhe di thi Ria ne nai. Jab mujhe ek sahare ki zarurat thi. Apni andhere se bhari zindagi mein roshni ki zarurat thi toh wo roshni bankar tum aai thi ria nai. Jab mujhe apna mood theek karne ke lie ek cutting chai ki zarurat thi, apne dil meh shanti laane ke lie ek smile ki zarurat thi, ye jo khaamoshi mujhe roz maarti thi uski jagah kisi ki bak bak ki zarurat thi tab wo sab kuch tumne mujhe dia ria ne nahi'
'Toh ab jab mai zindagi meh aaghe bandhna chaahta hu toh sath dene wali ria kese ho skti hai?'
Sakshi looked at him in awe. He really loved her alot. He actually noticed all this. He actually cared.
'Par arjun mai kese? I mean tumhi toh hamesha kehte the ki mai bhaut bolti hu. Kaam nai karti. Khud ka khayal bhi ni rakh skti. Or naahi kisi ko protect kar skti hu aur tum kitne khush lagte ho ria ke sath'
She asked looking at him with her big big eyes.
'Sakshi shayad tum bhool gayi ki tum ek crime reporter ho koi etf officer nai. Tumhara kaam shabdon se khelna hai guns aur gundo se nai. Aur tum bhaut strong ho sakshi. Tum jaanti ho gundo se ladne se zyada mushkil kya hai?' She nodded her head in no
'Har roz zindagi se ladna. Par tum ladti ho roz. Akele! wo bhi ek badi si smile ke sath. Isse zyada kya chaah sakta hai koi apni biwi meh ki wo usse mentally support kar sake. Tumhari jaan toh koi bhi bacha sakta hai sakshi. Par mujhe mere iss gusse se sirf tum bacha sakti ho.'
'Aur baat rahi meri khushi ki toh aaj agar mai kisi ke bhi sath has para hu normally baat kar para hu toh wo bhi tumhari wajah se. Tum nai hoti toh wo arjun bhi nai hota jisse roshni kabhi pyaar karra karti thi'
He caressed her cheeks with all the love in his eyes waiting for her answer.
'Par mera kya arjun. Mai toh aaj bhi wesi he hu jaise uss raat ko thi. Unlogo ne mujhe kisi ke layak' sakshi stopped not able to say anything else. He laid bare all her insecurities hoping now he'll reject her. She can't take the risk of hurting him later in her life.
'Dobara kabhi aise mat bolna' arjun angrily
'Unhone sirf or sirf tumhare shareer ko chua tumhara man abhi bhi waise he hai jaisa tab tha. Tum aaj bhi utni he innocent ho. Tum smile karti ho sakshi. Tum orro ke chehre par hasi bhi laati ho. Toh aise mein kaise tum kisi ke layak nai hui'
'Mujhe sapne aate hai arjun' she said pushing him away
'Jinme mai uss raat ko baar baar jeeti hu. Toh kese hu mai kisi ke layak. Kaise jeeoge har raat mere unn sapno ke sath. Mai tooti hui hu arjun. Ab nai jud sakti.'
'Sapne mujhe bhi aate hai sakshi' he said forcefully cupping her face in his hands there face only centimetres apart.
'Roshni ki maut ke. Islie he chaahta hu ki tum meri zindagi meh aao. Taaki hum dono ek dusre ke bhayanak sapno ko apne pyaar se mita sake. Taaki raat akele guzarne ki jagah hum ek dusre ki baahon meh guzar sake. Taaki agar kisi waqt tumhari neend ek sapne ki wajah se toot jaaye toh mai tumhara sar apni god meh rakh kar tumhe ek aur sapna dikha saku. ek aisa sapna jaha sirf hum dono ho. Ek dusre ke sath. ek doosre ke paas.'
Tears flowed freely out of her eyes at his confession. He wanted her to be his safe haven just he wanted to be hers. How could she not say yes. Isn't that what she always dreamed about. A peaceful night's sleep. A home she could call her own. He was her home. The place she could go to at the end of the day to wipe away all her pain. She nodded with a big smile on her face.
He was elated to say the least. Finally she said yes. Finally he was able to put all her insecurities to rest. He joined his forehead to hers and moved his lips forward to join her in a sweet kiss.
He moved his lips against her as did she hesitantly. He first kiss with the love of her life. What else could she ask for.
They both held tightly to each other not ready to go just yet. After all it was after years of pain and suffering that they finally reached their own safe haven!
