CHAPTER 5:

Sakshi woke up at the sound of the alarm. She usually sleep till 8 but today she woke up early at 6 am . Afterall Arjun was coming. She got up and went to the baathroom. She took almost one hour to take shower and another one hour to choose dress. She wore a beautiful golden creapt anarkali with churidar. With matching jwelery and bangles. She wore anklet too. She applied only kajal and gloss. She looked through the mirror and let her hair down. After finished she looked at the clock. It was saying that it's 9 am now. She gasped. How did she took so long today? She even didn't bid bye to her father. She took the phone to text him but there was already a text in the inbox for her. It was from her father.

Good bye beta. Aaj mujhe ane mein thoda late ho jyega. Tum dinner karke so jana.

Papa.

She smiled and replied.

Ok papa. But khana time pe khalena. Aur rich and oily food bilkul maat khana. Take care.

After sending the text she came down and went straight to drawing room. She sat down carefully and straightened her cloth with plam. Then sat like a statue and started waiting. After a few minitues maid came to her.

Maid: Madam ji khana lagwa doon?

Sakshi nodded no.

Maid insisted.

Maid: But madam ji kitne baaj gye hai khana kha li jye.

Sakshi frowned and nodded no again.

Maid sighed and went away from there. She know why Sakshi waiting so eagerly. She was waiting for Arjun. Now only her Arjun can make her eat. Maid nodded to herself and got busy with other works.

Sakshi was waiting and checking clock now and then. She was smoothing her cloths and hair in every five minitues. But as if time was also against her. She didn't even eat in fear of getting her lip gloss ruined. Now her stomach is growling. She made a face and again checked the clock.

Like Sakshi the maid Rukmini was also checking the clock. She didn't like Sakshi staying hungry but she also knew that there was no way she would be able to make her eat.

It was almost ten when Arjun entered through the door. Sakshi jumped and stood up. Her eagerness was visible.

Arjun was looking very dashing. He was wearing a black shirt with black denim pants. He looked at Sakshi and his breath went away. She was looking so beautiful. On the top of her blush made her an angel.

Arjun went to her and stood infront of her.

Arjun: kaisi ho Sakshi?

Hearing her name from his rich velvety voice snatched Sakshi's breath. After meeting Arjun she always wait to hear her name from his mouth. She nodded in answer.

She took the writing pad and was writing when Rukmini came with a bowl tray in hand.

Rukmini: Baby ji aab toh kha lijya..(turning to Arjun)..Pichle ek ghante se aapke intejar main baithi hai. Subah ko khana bhi neh khaya.

Sakshi scowled at her but Rukmini ignored it.

Rukmini: Mujhe ankh maat dekhao. Agar tabyat kharab ho gyi to takleef toh Aapko hi hoti hai na? Aur jaab aap takleef main hoti hai to hame accha nehi lagta.

Sakshi's brows straightened. She know that the maids and other workers of the house love her dearly. So, she took the tray and nodded.

Rukmini went away from there.

Arjun raised a eyebrow.

Arjun: Yeh kya hai? Tumne khana kiyu nehi khaya? Chalo yeh tray mujhe do aur baitho.

He took the tray and made her sit. He took two slie of bread and make sandwich. Then he gave it to Sakshi. After finished eating he stood up. Sakshi looked up at him enquiringly.

Arjun: Chalo garden main chalte hai.

He streched out his hand and Sakshi took it. He squeezed her soft hand and she squeezed back. They went to garden. At one place Arjun made her sit and sat beside her.

Arjun didn't know from where to start. He knew that Sakshi was waiting but he took his time to re-arrange his jumble thought. He looked at her and saw she was looking back patiently. So, he started.

Arjun: Aaj main tumhe ek kahani sunata hoom. Ek ladka tha. Full of life. Bohoti sharati. Hamesha class main top ata tha. Usska ekhi best friend tha. Dono bilkul pakke dost the. Majag masti main pura din gujar dete the. Sapne dekhte the honest police officer banne ka. College ke baad dono dost ne police join kar lya. Do saal ke training ke baad woh dono ne police main kaam karna suru kya.

He looked at Sakshi to enquir if she was getting bored but found her fully engrossed in the story. So, he resumed.

Arjun: Uss ladke ne kasam khaya ki jindegi ki akhri saas tak woh iss desh ka seva karega. Ek din uss ka introduction ek pyari si pari se hui. She was buyng some red roses. Uss ladke ko laga ki woh koi chalta firta gulaab dekh raha hai. Taabse uss ladke ne uss ladki ka peecha karna suru kar dya. Usski smile, baat karte waqt sar ko hilana, baat baat pe haasna sab kuch uss ladke ko pagal bana ke rakh dya. Ek din himmat jutakar woh uss ladki ke paas gya aur usse propose kya. Uss ladki ne pehle hi uss ladke ko notice kya tha. Uss ladki ko bhi usse pyar ho gya tha so ussne ha keh dya.

He smiled fondly at the memories.

Arjun: Do saal baad undono ne shadi karli. Bohot khush the dono. Likin ek din sab kuch barbad ho gya. Ek ghinone criminal ne uss ladke se badla lene ke lye usski patni ko maar dala. Woh bhi uss ladke ke ankho ke samne.

At this point tears were flowing down from Arjun's eyes. But he didn't notice.

Arjun: Phir woh ladka behosh ho gya. Sabkuch khatam ho gya. JO sapne undono ne milkar dekhe the woh toot gya. Woh hasna bhool gya. Jeena bhool gya. Chalta to tha par uss shareer pe jaan nehi tha. Usske best friend ne usska saath chod dia. Usse apni patni ki maut ka jimmedar manne laga. Phir ekdin ussne apna dushman ko dhoond nikala aur apna badla pura kiya. Zindegi phirse muskurane lagi. Usse usska best friend wapas mil gya aur usska mulakat ek rajkumari se hua. Uss ladke ko uss rajkumari se phirse pyar ho gya.

At this point he looked directly at Sakshi's eyes.

Arjun: Woh ladka main tha. Woh pyarisi pari thi meri pehli patni Roshni. Aur woh rajkumari tum ho Sakshi. I love you. And I want to marry you. Kya tum mujhse shadi karogi? Roshni ki jayga mere dilme hamesha rahegi but usske saath saath maine tumhe bhi iss dil mein baitha lya hai. Kya tum mera saath dogi? I pormise ki main tumhe kabhi bhi shikayat ka ek mauka nehi dunga.

Sakshi nodded and lowered her lashes. Her eyes were red from crying. She cried for the poor girl she never knew. She cried for the man sitting infront of her. She cried in happiness when he proposed her. She took the pad and write down something. Then showed it to Arjun.

I love you too. And yes. I will marry you. Main tumhare dil me Roshni ji ka jagah to nehi chahti but itna chahti hoom ki jindegi ankhri saas taak main tumhara ankhri pyar bana rahoom.

A wide grin stretched in his face. He pulled Sakshi to his chest and hugged her tightly. Sakshi also hugged her back.

After sometime Arjun parted and chinned her up. He caressed her cheek. Sakshi knew his desire so she closed her eyes. He placed his lips at her cheek very softly. Then he moved to her lips. He knew she is new to this so he started softly. His soft kiss made her shiver. After sometime he pulled away and put his forhead on hers and smiled. Sakshi smiled back.

Mr. Rakesh parked the car at the parking lot and went inside the house. After so many years he returned. All the memories came rushing to him. Diya taking the boxes upstairs. Helping Jaya in cooking. Surya teasing Diya about her cooking. He and Jaya fighting. Jaya beating both of them.

Surya and Jaya were in the garden. Taking their evening tea and eating snacks. Jaya was the first to notice him. She let out a yelp and ran to him. Like old days he stretched his hand and Jaya came to her arms. Both hugged each other tightly. Jaya was crying.

Jaya: Oye Kamina itne din baad yaad ayi meri?

Mr. Surya also came by then. Mr. Anand let her go and pulled Mr. rawte in a bear hug.

All them were crying. But it was the tears of happiness.

They all went inside and sat on the sofa.

Mr. Anand: Mujhe tumlogose kuch jarori baat karni hai.

Mr. Rawte: Ha ha bol. Haame bhi kuch jarrori baat karne hai.

Mr. Anand: Woh main kuch din pehle tere betese mila. Usske bare mein sunkar mujhe bohoti dukh hua. Aab main yeh chahta hoom ki usski shadi meri beti se ho. Sakshi se. Tum...

Jaya hold up a hand.

Jaya: Haame saab yaad hai. Aur teri beti ko haamne kuch din pehle paper mein. Haame woh bohoti pasand hai aur haam bhi tujhse unn dono ki shadi ke bare mein baat karna chahte the. Arjun ko Sakshi pehle se hi pasand thi. Thodi der pehle usska phone aya tha. Ussne kaha ki Sakshi ne bhi shadi ke lye ha keh di hai.

Mr. Anand: I guessed it before. To der kiss baat ki. Aabhi Prithvi aur Naina ko phone laga aur Pandit ji ko bula. Jitna jaldi ho sake main unn dono ki shadi karwa dena chahta hoom.

Mr. Rawte: Haam bhi yeh chahte hai.

They all laugh together and started making plans for their marriage.
