Sakshi followed Arjun to his bed.Arjun gave her some water and she drank it. They both lied down. Then Arjun asked
"What happened to your family Sakshi? You are having nightmare of them right?"
Sakshi nodded
" what happened to them? If you don't want to share I can understand, but it will help you" said Arjun
"They were murdered and I saw that. I was hiding outside, otherwise they would have killed me as well" said Sakshi wiping her tears
"Who killed them? And why?" Asked Arjun placing his one hand on her hair
"My dad was an advocate, Anand Sharma. He was doing a case against a drug mafia . They threatened him
so many times to stop that case.But he didn't give up. So one day they came to search for the proofs my dad found against them. They asked dad so many times but he didn't give it. So they started killing one by one in the hope that my dad will give them proof. But I heard him saying that this nation is more valuable than him and his family and he died last" said Sakshi
"Your dad is really brave. So you ran when they came? How did you escape?" Asked Arjun
"I was in 9th grade and was just coming back from the school. When I reached home I heard some shouts and cries. So I got scared and went to the window from where I can see the living room. I saw they shooting all of my family one by one. I still remember his face and his cruel laugh. Then I don't remember anything. I was in a hospital when I came back to my conscious self. Then one of my dad's friend Raj uncle took me to a boarding school in Shimla. I joined there and I was in Shimla until I came here. "said Sakshi
"Don't you have any relatives?" Asked Arjun
"My parents marriage was a love marriage and they were not accepted by both the families. But I am sure they would have accepted me in this condition. But my dad's friend Raj uncle told me that now it's risky for them if they accept me. So he sent me to a boarding school in Shimla. His relative Sudha was a teacher in that school and she was my guardian until I turn 18"
Arjun's heart broke in to two when he heard those words. He hugged her tightly. She cried letting out all her worries and insecurities and he let her cry. Then after a while he asked
"But Sakshi, if they have killed the advocate who had proofs against them, then why should your life be at a risk? Did they know that you witnessed the murder? Asked Arjun
"Actually they were unable to find the proofs my dad collected against them. It was with Raj Uncle. But if they come to know about my existence I am sure they will restart searching for that proof " said Sakshi
" So it's still with Raj uncle?" Asked Arjun
" No . Now it's with me. When I started working as a journalist he gave it to me. This is one reason why I joined ETF Arjun, I will handover those proofs to you" said Sakshi
Arjun nodded and asked
"Who are these people actually?"
"Someone named Sikkandar and his group. I still can remember his laugh..." Sakshi was about to continue when Arjun screamed
"Sikkandar???"
"Yes, ...what happened Arjun" asked Sakshi
"Don't you know who is that.He is the one who killed Roshni" said Arjun in an angry voice. Now it's Sakshi's turn to be shocked. She never knew who killed Roshni or the reason behind her murder. She read in newspapers that it was some drug mafia who did it. But they never mentioned who.
"Arjun, I don't know what to say" said Sakshi
Arjun was silent for sometime then asked
" Did he personally come to kill your dad or send his gang?"
"He personally came, I heard my dad calling him by that name" said Sakshi
" He didn't come personally to kill Roshni, probably he didn't want to risk his identity in front of a police officer" whispered Arjun
Sakshi felt bad for him. She could see his struggle to find that man who killed his first wife. She caressed his hair and he closed his eyes. Then he asked her
" Will you be able to describe him if I call a sketch artist?"
"I think so" said Sakshi
"Hmmm" said Arjun " so this nightmare comes every night?" He changed the topic suddenly
"Not every night. When ever I am vulnerable or scared, it comes" said Sakshi and continued " so it's your duty to make me happy, otherwise I will disturb you in the middle of night" said Sakshi to make the mood lighter
Arjun was looking her with an amazed expression
"What are you looking at?" Asked Sakshi
"How can you smile so easily Sakshi? You don't even need a reason to smile or laugh.. How can you do that?" Asked Arjun
" What should I do then Arjun?" Asked Sakshi " I agree that I lost family when I was very young. But think, what if I don't have a guardian like Raj uncle or Sudha miss? I would never have reached here without them. So I should be thankful to god, at least I had them to take care of me and now I have a beautiful family. Mom, Dad, ETF members and You.. I have you Arjun. I know it will take time for you to accept me, and I don't have a problem with that, but still I have someone whom I can trust completely. And more than anything else, the feeling of security Arjun... I feel completely secure when I am with you. I have so many positive things around me, so smiling is not difficult at all" finished Sakshi
" You are really strong Sakshi, Why can't I think like that?" Asked Arjun
" You can Arjun, and you are better now. You are not the Arjun I met on my first day in ETF.. You have changed a lot. In your case guilt plays a major role. Arjun, can I ask you something?" Asked Sakshi
Arjun nodded
" Normally you guys solve any case just like that, what happened with this case?" Asked Sakshi
Arjun sighed and said
" It's difficult to handle a case when it's very personal Sakshi.. You won't be able to think. It's partially our mistake, mine and Sam's. Commissioner sir told us so many times that he will handle the case. But both of us were adamant that WE have to solve this. We got so many clues but all reached a dead end and we didn't have anyone like Shree to give us immediate technical help. It was so frustrating. Then both of us had to join ETF. So we closed it temporarily as we never got time to think after joining ETF. I guess it's time to re open"
Sakshi nodded
" Did you used to get angry at Roshni?"
Arjun turned to her by this sudden question
"Why do you want to know?"
"Just like that" said Sakshi
He smiled and said
"Yes sometimes, but not that much. I never used to get angry so easily. I was a different person Sakshi. She was exactly opposite of your personality. You know very mature..." But Sakshi interrupted him quickly
"So you want to say I am immature?" She narrowed her eyes
"Do you want me to answer that?" Smirked Arjun
Sakshi angrily got up
"I am going back to my room"
" No you are not" said Arjun holding her wrist. He pulled her to him
" Don't touch me.I came here just to sleep ok?" Said Sakshi
Arjun loosened his hold and said
"Oh really? And what did you think I was going to do?"
"Who knows, I have such an unpredictable husband. " muttered
"When did I act unpredictable?"Asked Arjun irritating her more.
"Oh god Arjun, just stop it ok? Nightmare was better than this"
"Then go.. No one is stopping you. But don't come back when you get a nightmare, I want to sleep" said Arjun
Sakshi sat up angrily and walked towards the door and then stopped.
"Why should I go? This is my bedroom" saying this she jumped to the bed
"If I remember well, it was you who wanted to sleep there from the first day" said Arjun
Their arguments went on and on and no one knows when they drifted in to sleep
