Thank you for the update Tamilselvi. ๐
If Ajay is really playing Chelvi's dad (and it certainly looks that way now after today's episode), it is really bad casting! I am also definite they will introduce new subplots with the boss's children, otherwise why show their characters in such detail? They are Chelvima's two more half-siblings! ๐
While we are on the subject of the timeline, let me write some of my observations (oru mini-thesis ๐) :-
- We can give a date to the early part of Chelvi serial as there was the scene of Niranjan being caught in the tsunami, which we all know happened near the end of 2004. Chelvi was already in India at the time (they saw this on the news). Shortly thereafter Thamarai fell into a coma. She was in the coma for almost exactly one year. The day after Chelvi and GJ consummated their marriage, Thams woke up. 9 months later, the future Kutty pisasu was born.
- KP grew up to be a 4-year-old girl by the end of the serial; Thams died.
Now, by calculating forward from Dec. 2004, the timeline would give Tham's death as occuring in at least 2010.
Yet at the start of Arase serial, we learn from Nallathamby's laptop that the year is 2007 (based on the fact Arase's age was listed as 52, and she was born on 5.5.1955). And Kaveri was shown as being a 14-year-old girl. So ten years went by, and the calendar year decreased by at least three. ๐
So in conclusion: calculating the timeline, what ages characters should be, etc. will only give you a headache (as Meli says, not only Tamil serials, but also many soap operas in the US I believe - if I am not mistaken, there they call it SORAS - Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome ๐). So I have abandoned all hopes for consistency in the timeline, and I suggest you do the same, Brintha ๐
