This show is literally cringe now and as someone rightly said on forum instead of women empowerment it is an embarrassment. This show is a proof that instead of evolving more indian tv is becoming more regressive smiley11

Some of the good story creators have adapted to OTT and are making better content then tv.

I really miss the old tv shows like even star one was such a nice channel with different theme shows back then.

We need shows with genuine women empowerment message if indian tv is too desperate to send across some message as this one is definitely not sending logical message forget about right message

I don't know what it is, we seem to have gone backwards.

I had mentioned it earlier. We had much bolder, much more sensitive subjects which were superbly handled. There was a more solution approach to persistent social problems.

The same channel boasted of some of the highly viewed and appreciated shows.

Now, one does Not understand who is this catering to, anymore.

But you are right. With the transition to OTT, a large chunk of content is shifting there.

To think of it 90s and early 2000s shows were much better than this cringe fest going on

I mean from swabhiman to shanti to saans it was all much better shows and story although it all foccused on woman (i am watching them on line its much better)

Even early ones like kyunki saas bhi kabhi bahu and kasauti zindagi ki were much better than anupama although i never watched much of them yet

Even 2010s serials jodha akbar and jassi jaisi koi nahi to balika vadhu to sarabhai to sarabhai to maharana paratap are many times better than the crap nowadays

What is this anupama, kumkum bhagya, kundali bhagya, ghum hai kisi ke pyar mein crap fest

In name of women empowerment and making women oriented show they are making mockery of women and society

They are making male leads as spineless simps like anuj kapadiya or ttoxic males vanraj shahs no decent mature male leads

Why cannot they show male leads as mature adults capable of taking care of problems and issues, why only FL has to do everything

Situation is so bad that in jodha akbar serial akbar is captured by enemy and jodha goes to war field and rescues him. I never heard jodha ever go to war field in history. I mean in 21st century no woman US or indian army is sent to war field and they are in secondary roles but here woman goes to war fields and fights enemy face to face.

If the woman soldier gets caught by enemy it will become big problem for army and country all know that. If a queen gets caught imagine what will happen? In name of woman empowerment comedy going on. If Akbar is captured his commanders or son will go to rescue him not his wives or daughters that all know.

Honestly if serials have to improve Male lead should get equal role and story only than serial will get interesting. Just to glorify woman do not show male lead turning to puppy like anuj kapadiya or toxic like vanraj shah. I mean forget business man even lower class male head of family will not behave like anuj kapadiya at home with wife or her so called mayka.

Before 2000s that was how serials were if its akbar its not jodha who does everything, if its chandragupta maurya his wife does not get prominence he gets, if its swambhiman male lead gets prominence not his GF or wife (rohit roy) and even women oriented story male lead was no puppet like anuj kapadiya

The downfall of ITV started from "kyunki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi" in 2000-01! In the name of creative liberty Ekta showed bigamy, Ema, illegitimate children, lost n found kids, multiple marriages, divorces, etc., etc.! Almost every character except the FL had atleast 2 marriages or 1 pre/post marriage affair n a spouse!

Also, Ekta triggered the trp audiences' love for the paranormal with her "dumb" serpent woman series.

Now Rajan Shahi wants to take this foolish content to the next level by giving it a sadistic flavour under the guise of woman empowerment...an FL who achieves nothing in life and keeps sacrificing even when nobody asked for it, characters killed at will, sudden unwanted leaps, silly reasons for leads' separation, multiple partners, horrible children, no reunion of lead, and list goes on!

Unfortunately, the remote button for change lies in the hands of those few households in India that have the barc meters. Unless they stop watching all this on tv and move on to more realistic, short, and progressive narratives, this is the content we will get!

For Anupama to shut shop, it's trp has to fall below 1.7 and I don't see it happening anytime soon!

I don’t know if Rajan Shahi would recognise women’s empowerment if he saw it coming. But he is spurred on by having the FL cry tears of blood/go through hardship/act too good to be true or insufferable as Anupama is being portrayed. Unfortunately, the viewership thrive on seeing their “heroine” go through hardship after hardship and thus increase the figures.

What is needed is probably some people from the forum to get together and re write Anupama’s story differently. That would be more interesting, would it not? Our own take on the story.

and by the way, how in the hell did Vanraj and bakhts cope during the five years when they could not even last one hour without calling Anupama to bail them out? Far fetched of the writers or what?!

What we fail to realize is that these shows are still catered to the common households of India and the generation before us - in whom there is definitely change happening but not enough that TV creators would be willing to change their sure shot formulas. A chunk of millennials, gen x and gen z are shifting to OTT and that’s why we can see bolder approaches on there. As long as we have households and community that are happier to brush uncomfortable topics under the carpet and unable to even listen to different viewpoints without spontaneously combusting, we will keep getting served crap on our TV

well
if there is a good show made, which is truly progressive and inspiring, it wont get enough TRPs to sustain

the most recent example being Katha Ankahee ... I loved the show from the start until they decided to take it off-air and they had to rush to the finish line ... the story, direction, character development, everything about it was top notch ... they called spade a spade ... even if its the male lead or the female lead ... never brushed it off under stupid reasons, nor did they make the titular character MAAhaan although she is a much better MAA than this FakeMaa

Completely agree. Shows like anupama are made because certain section of audience ( big section) still loves watching this kind of content

Agree with you that writers are contradicting their own self by showing shahs so happy and successful when earlier they could not even do potty without anupamaa smiley36
