Why Anupamaa works and tops the trp charts has always been a mystery to me. But I think, there is no other reason but simply sensationalizing everything. They just play on people's need for drama and sensationalism. That's the reason why:
- Shahs and their abuse of Anupa never stops.
- They bring in different social issues such as sexual abuse and human trafficking, not to tackle the stigma but to give sensational content.
- Smallest of issues are needed a long winding lecture from Anupa to dramatise even the mundane things.
- The reasonable demands are shown as something unreasonable and people are vilified overnight.
- Anupa keeps on crying for her past (nonetheless going back to the same abusers for more abuse) instead of being happy in the present.
- The actual victims are turned into villains.
It is useless to hope from them to tackle social issues sensibly because tackling social issues sensibly is not sensational enough. It is useless to hope from them to put a complete end to Shah drama and Anupa's abuse because being happy in your current life is not sensational enough.
