If either of them were lesser actors, the makers attempt at building sympathy for anupama would have succeeded. Anupama would do her rona dhona and penic attacks. The actors would lamely say something or show some token sadness

But Gauravs grief comes across as so genuine. His body language is unparalleled. In front of him, Anupama's drama comes across as fake and forced. This has caused even Anuapama fans to be sympathetic to Anuj and question Anupama

Similarly, Chavvi has the personality to hold her own against Rupali. Kavya etc are not bad actress but rupali used to dominate them in any conversation. The makers intention was clearly to show Maya as cunning and scheming but because of the actress, she dominated Rupali and was able to put her logical points across

If these were lesser actors, Anuj would come across as a whiner who is over reacting while anupama is being genuinely upset and maya would come across as a scheming no good loser while anupama would be 100% right against her

These two power actors spoiled the plan just by such amazing performances. If the makers had any brains they would be thankful for them and ututilze them more

Yes now even Rupali fans are surprised ki ye Anupama bol kya Rahi hai. And yes Chavi ke aage Evan Kavya Ki jal failed what a performance 👏Anuj and Maaya should be paired together in Anupama now.

I had a very similar thought, you know? But I was mainly thinking of Gaurav's acting, but Maaya's character I started warming up to in recent episodes - she made me feel like the concern she had for Choti was a thousand times more genuine than Anupama's, and the way she stands up to the Shahs just strike.

The kind of lines they had given Gaurav a few episodes ago, I definitely felt a touch of scary obsessiveness. But now, his acting - the depression, the brokenness, the trauma, the loneliness - everything Anuj is going through feels so real, such that everyone who he is surrounded by feels... so very tone-deaf.

Rupali's acting doesn't seem to offer anything new, and it pales so much in comparison to Gaurav's in my eyes - I don't feel the slightest shred of sympathy towards the character.

Fully agree. Anupamaa's character is one dimensional and thakela. The actress seems to be either doing the bare minimum because of the lousy source material or could be thinking that the character is divine. Well that's on her.

But I do want to continue a point made by the thread maker. Maaya's personality is magnetic and holds her own against Anupamaa. While characters of Kavya, Rakhi, Barkha etc were always given hard hitting dialogues their introduction itself pitted them against them the all suffering Anupamaa and they never stood a chance despite speaking sense. It was always a confrontational scene where the meek maid was shown to be gaining courage and trumping the loud critic. But with Maaya, the dialogues are delivered by the actress calmly and with great restraint that it ends up actually shining a light on the spicebox's flaws, if you are an objective viewer and don't find fault with her background. Since, the perception is not of a David vs Goliath battle (where Anupa is obviously the former), the focus is not diverted from the issue.

Very interesting perspective. Restraint, when done well, can speak volumes more than in-your-face acting.

The outburst scene was brilliant and it made me feel like the undertones of his words were "how else am I to explain to you what you're doing wrong, I've told you so many times to prioritize CA but you never really listened so here we are". This has been going on for months, it's been built up gradually. So why is she not connecting the dots?

GK was perfect in the scenes and his simple dialogues were so effective. No overacting, no excessive gestures, etc. I could feel the cry from his heart and even sense the suffocation that Anuj Kapadia was feeling.

Chhavi has been great in all her scenes. I've always liked her work but this is the first time I've seen her play gray shades and I must say she's nailed it.

Truth has been spoken. They brought Dheeraj and Devika to spit some nonsense that would justify Deviji's evil deeds and evoke sympathy for her, but GK's phenomenal acting backfired their plan. What a performer. And, because of Chhavvi's powerful acting, a typical vamp like MAAya is preferred over the Mahanata Ki Murat.
