There is a difference between both. Anuj loved her from the college days before her marriage. He just expressed his love in bhaang if I'm not wrong never in his senses he would say. Eyeing other person spouse is different which Maaya did. She actually tried to do all the things as a wife has to do. That is not acceptable.

how are we to know what anuj did for anupama love in 26 years

he was knowing everything happening to anupam athru devika

indirectly he was spying on anupama nad her family thru devika no for 26 years which normal lover does all that

who knows if anuj kept karwa chauth vrath for anupama in last 26 years etc

Both their love for the other person is/was one-way. The similarities end there. We cannot go by what was not telecast on TV with just assumptions of what he might have done in those 26 yrs.

Based on what is depicted, Maaya getting close to him on the pretext of her daughter is borderline creepy.

That said, I started hating Anuj's char more after that scene in the prequel where he comes to see Anupama and sheds a tear. He is an idiot of the first degree.

My knowledge anuj returned when anupama was already divorced, as it is said anuj left india only , he was never in contact with anupama, even devika was not in contact with anupama for very long time , see intial episodes when devika comes to meet anupama.

Anuj did tried to move on as he had his couple of affairs & one night stand in abroad as he had confessed earlier but he could never really got over anupama.

Maya has lust for anuj for which now she trying trick.

Coming between a husband and wife is a sin but coming between a mother and her child is not a sin, miss hypocrite shitnupamaa could not tolerate kavya coming in between her and Samar but the same shitnupamaa is coming between Maaya and CA, by what rights? A sin is apparently not a sin if Shitnupamaa commits it I see.
