More mature instances of Sreemoyee and other characters in the show than MahaMaa counterparts,
1. Sreemoyee handled the exposition of EMA with courage and even sang a song at her then husband's party instead of the whole panic attack fest.
2. Characters like June's (Kavya's) husband or Buni (Dolly's) husband were more well-formed than just being prop-dummies to add to a crowd.
3. Sreemoyee actually cared for people who were not her kids. She had a well-rounded relationship with June's son even when the EMA was not discovered, she tamed Ankita (Kinjal) who was a lot more bratty in that version, without destroying her dignity and played a strong part in getting Aitihya (Adhik) who was an ex-con, back on his feet. Real actual help, mind you, not just fluttering bhaashans.
4. Adityadeb (Hasmukh) has a strongee hold on the house. Anindya (Vanraj) doesn't respect him out of choice, he commands it. And when he sees that Sreemoyee just keeps coming back to the Sengupta house after marriage only to check his health, he immediately moves out and goes to live with Sreemoyee and Rohit, leaving Patralekha (Leela) with June, who gives her befitting treatment of a pseudo-maid. He doesn't keep forgiving Patralekha's misbehavior in the name of marital loyalty in old age.
5. Sreemoyee becomes a successful businesswoman as well as a professional singer, before marrying Rohit.
6. Though Anirudh (Paritosh) and Dithi (Pakhi) are often shown to be selfish and against Sreemoyee, they are shown as self-respecting characters. They are both doctors and keep practicing. Even Ankita is a doctor who refuses to move with Anirudh when he plans to move abroad because of her own successful career in Kolkata.
7. There are no unnecessary forgiveness tracks and melodrama to justify forgetting mistakes in the name of motherhood.
8. Most importantly Sreemoyee immediately makes Rohit her top priority post marriage. She also acts boldly to care for Rohit during his terminal illness, rescues him from kidnapping, and post his death she doesn't go back to serving the Senguptas. Rather she declares that after Rohit there is no reason for her to stay back and trouble herself with selfish people around her and she would prefer spending her last days volunteering in an old age home and later settling down there.
