Anupamaa is not a victim

I did a psychoanalysis of Anupamaa as the writers have portrayed her to be(really need to get a job) 🤣

From whatever has happened in this show and keeps happening, it's clear that Anupamaa has a God complex that needs to be fuelled, and that gets fueled by being a victim of abuse and bad treatment and then delivering a lecture about it. By deliberately putting herself in situations that will make her look more moral, more worthy of praise etc. Baiscally, she may be a covert narcissist of some sort. It's not Stockholm syndrome as they develop an attachment and take pleasure in the pain, but she seems to want to experience it for some kind of internal or external validation. This is not a strange thing for someone to develop if they face so much abuse for a long time, as they need to maintain a false grandiose self externally and internally to feel normal. But it's hard to watch and root for such a character, with no self awareness and willingness to change.

What could have been an uplifting story of an Indian woman rising up from a really bad situation to become independent and happy was turned into trash and her characterisation was destroyed by overdoing things. Its hard to feel sympathy for her when she goes begging to her abusive kids or ex mother in law everytime just to deliver a lecture everyone ignores 🤢

Good analysis. However, I highly doubt that the writers have put so much thought in outlining the character.

Yes I know they are just doing whatever they want acc to the trp. They don't think much but this is what it appears to the third person. Like people can't think she has good intentions now after she exposes kids like CA and rape victims to SH abuse just to get an opportunity to give lectures

She is a sado masochist

Enjoys getting insulted & uses the pain to punish others via bhashan which she thoroughly enjoys

I do not think so

our grandmothers 90% experienced anupam or more than that abuse all life in hubby house kaun anupama ki tara bashan diya koi nahi

or mothers gen 70% face more than anupama abuse kaun de raha hai bashan koi nahi

Do we even know how wife were treated in 50s orr 70s compared to 2020 especially in villages or small towns or by less educated homes? not really

Even today if you ask maids or driver wife they will say hubby beats them everday or other day in big cities forget villages

Did you not see most educated MBA Malvika from USA and MBA kinjal how treated by hubby in serial in 2022?

I know woman working in biggest top IT companies hit by hubby in 2022. They are BE and MBA like Malvika highly educated. Hubby is most qulaified Mtech MBA BE from top colleges of USA, india, UK etc not like vanraj or toshu Do you think those young 25 or 30 year olds have no option? Their pare

nnts are no illiterates themselves but force daughters to stay with hubby not divorce.

It is not that anupama want to.victim aur gain sympathy .by going to shah house but fundamental truth is that writer don't have story apart from this

Anupama also suffers from Stockholm Syndrome. It's the only sane explanation I can think of. Otherwise she would have stopped singing Baa's praises ages ago. But over the years she has developed an unhealthy sympathy for her abusers.

Hence why she continues to claim Vanraj is a good son and father. (because good sons totally bang their side chick and are unavailable whilst their fathers writhe on the floor suffering from a heart attack. And also has Anupama forgotten that time Vanraj threatened to kick Samar out of the house and abused him verbally just to get back at Anupama? What a lovely father he is!)

Her own mother is forgotten in some corner and Baa is so important that Anupama will not tolerate one word against her. No concern for brother or nephew but super worried about Bapuji all the time. (Yes I categorise Bapuji as an abuser. That man conveniently went for strolls while Baa and Vanraj did tandav on Anupama's head for 25 bloody years. He's as bad as them)

And also I doubt the writers ever wrote one word to define Anupama's character let alone sketch out full fledged story arc. It really had a chance to be a truly progressive show specially those first set of episodes upto the Anupama-Vanraj divorce. But then that nonsense came of staying with ex in laws (srsly who does that?!!) And it all came crashing down. Even Anuj could not save it for long
