The makers think that MaAn are their saviour, MaAn will bring them their lost audience back.
MaAn were only the bridge to pave way for non-watchers to the show, the content is the hero to stick them in. (Ofcourse surrounding MaAn)
Audience want the gripping story back, they want to see their characters strong, they want to see the defeat of the villian as cliche as it may sound. They can't see evil winning over righteousness.
The recepie is spread in front of their eyes, but they are being lousy in their pick for the tracks. Or they are made to by powers above!
Whatever it is, the show is suffering, the cast and crew are suffering and the loyal viewers are suffering!!
