I didn’t post anything after seeing yesterdays episode because, as cheesy as it sounds, I really was heartbroken. Heartbroken because I kept asking myself why am I being drawn so much into this show. Anyways, thought I would post today to share my opinion.
1. I sincerely pray their TRP even drops further. Look people, they had a very good show that didn’t show ANY kitchen politics and focused on one theme. Gods know when hit their head when they introduced Mukku. They deserve this - period. The main actors aren’t going to complain because this show has given them immense love from the audience. So in a way, they won’t revolt (especially not GK) I agree completely with the first part. they had a great script to begin with. not the usual drama and fabulous star cast (let's admit for SP - you need to be a superb actor to get people to hate you. Sadly, they made his character bigger than the show and that's what is causing them a lot of issues)
On Mukku's introduction, the purpose looked good enough. another twist in the story. to introduce the family aspect. Good intentions, decent few good episodes. wonderful script on the DV bit (but, as i've said previously, this aspect lost essence because of the presence of someone who has been an abuser for 2.5 DECADES along with his mother - had he not been in the frame, then i would've applauded the creatives to bring out such an issue in open). Unfortunately though, the fame by then had gotten to their heads (or shall I say to one relationship) and that took a toll on every other character and track - this was evident with the constant below the belt dialogues by ONE character and then the awful reduction of such a bubbly character (that could've been explored more) was DEVASTATING. And the audiences felt that instantly. Hence, they had to quickly wrap up that cringe love aspect and ultimately, she had to bear the brunt.
Mukku's character is a perfect example of COLLATERAL DAMAGE (in finance terms)
2. I’m most irritated about this whole marriage track. It really does seem like the writers are writing the dialogues on the spot. Anu first gives a strong lecture about getting married when they want. And next thing you know it, the ENTIRE episode was packed with only marriage today. Did anyone else feel it looked SO FORCED. Nothing was natural about it. And this is why I never really wanted this track to come up so soon. Again, the team could have tackled this beautifully - showing two mature people who are in love and how they break the shackles of society. Not sure why they couldn’t show a normal conversation between the leads about how they want to progress their relationship. While doing their work, they could have shown them getting to know each other more. Guaranteed this would have increased their TRP. - On marriage, my views are slightly different here. Yes, she didn't want to get married because of her past traumas and baggage. and this was evident even in today's episode (or in the precap). She still is and she is right to be reserved. let's admit it, all of us come with a baggage and trust once broken, takes too long (or sometimes not at all) to build again.
I feel they have tackled it in a decent enough way. They are 2 mature people who are trying to find their ground with all the samaaj drama. I agree, they could've probably shown more progress in their relationship too. Whether it would've increased their TRPs or not is quite debatable - because we as a younder audience may want this getting together/compatibility bit, but at that age and that set of audiences may not. they may want them to make it official and living their lives together.
3. These people need to dial it down with the heavy words - not only is it repetitive, it’s annoying. We getting marayada but look at the hypocrisy, isn’t holding hands then not a part of maryada. And Anu has done this MANY times - again agree with the heavy words and repetition. Repetition doesn't mean anything most of the times. It loses essence.
But, holding hands isn't any hypocrisy. that's least bit intimate. Maryada means well within limits and both are and are abiding by it. example would be them NOT living together but as neighbors. also, second eg, in the sakranti episode. He DID not touch her even when she needed help with the necklace.
Anu or infact even Anuj have never crossed any limits.
4. As much as Gk said don’t look for logic, in all seriousness, these people cannot just show illogical things. And there are MANY of those and this looks really poor with the execution (the biggest being - Anuj said the day M entered that his sister is his BIGGEST priority - he seems he couldn’t care less at this point about M). - agree again on the priority topic. that is a case of writer's brain fog. She should've been his priority too but let's see this a bit differently. Even while giving it all to her, he mentions that there will be a time when she will understand.
He has lived with guilt of ruining her life and did not want to do any further damage. holding her tight etc wouldn't have helped his cause - infact, would've made the already strained relationship worse.
He does care about her, but, he now wants her to find her own ground. And I'm sure we've all been through something similar in our own lives (sometimes you got to leave people on their own to make them figure out things - everyone learns with experience and that is what he was trying to do as an elder brother)
I think the disconnect is because they aren't showing her scenes, this message is not coming across as it should (again, back to the TRP game and that one damn SUJAN)
5. Staying true to characters. Again, Anuj was introduced as a business man who CARED about his business. Now, they are showing him as someone who really doesn’t care about money. - slightly disagree. He never cared about money even to begin with. He was shown as a business tycoon - smart, savvy, savage.
Infact, even in the Christmas epi, he makes it clear that he is very interested in a simple life and fame doesn't do much with him (also mandir scene when the girls were fanning over him. He wasn't interested)
Also, not once has he used his power or name (except just with the kids so they could let them in when they were stuck cus of rains/weather)
And at that age, where you have seen all the riches, probably few relationships, you may just get tired and bored and would want to eat daal-chawal for the rest of your lives. So I think that's where he/his character is coming from. He has had everything but love and that's what he craves for. And I think that it is fair.
6. It’s good M left the show. Sorry unpopular opinion - was never a fan of Aneri. I saw her in Nisha and her cousins and find she does a lot of overacting and same thing here. BUT I do agree that she needed a proper closure. - haven't seen her shows so not sure. But her character for sure had a lot of potential and if they had executed it well, the results would've been wayyyyyyy too different and we probably would be having a different convo on it! So I blame the makers (again, the dreaded SUJAN)
7. And for those of you who are happy about the marriage track, do you honestly thing they will show any good, intimate MaAn moments. I can guarantee they will not. Mark my words - Anuj will become a side character. I mean it’s already going in that direction, with all these cliches. Anuj will be used to resolve Anu’s kids problems - that’s it. There won’t be any novelty in his character. - slight disagreement here too. Marriage doesn't have to be intimate. It can be this cute nibba nibbi. And the age factor too. It needs to be bharpooor not just good or intimate.
Technically, the show is all about Anu so all the characters are sides only. Whether they choose to put him lower, that remains to be seen - again more on how they choose to execute and more importantly, continue this track.
As a married couple, they will need to work on resolving both sides of issues together. If at some point, they get Mukku back, then Anu will work on resolving the siblings relationship (and she has explicitly said it time and again, delayed her confession etc).
His character is unique, his character so far has been what every girl would like/want in a partner.
