Premise
"Devika tu Jaipur se wapis kab aa rahi hai?" asked Anupama while sheafing through papers.
"Main kal sham ko Ahmedabad pahuch jaungi. Bata, is bar tere liye kya laun?"
"Kuch nahi chahiye! Bas tu parso Sankranti humare saath hi manana! Maine.. Anuj aur GK kaka ko bhi khane par bulaya hai."
"Pakka aaungi! Waise, tu is bar kya special banane wali hai?"
"Woh hi jo har saal banati hoon - undhiya, puri aur jalebi! Sabko yeh hi pasand aata hai!"
"Is bar un sabke alava koi aur bhi hai jise ponkh bahot pasand hai! Anuj ke liye tu ponkh ki koi dish zaroor banana!"
Anupama blushed while thinking about Anuj.
"Achchha hua tune bata diya! Woh.. Is bar unke saath meri pehli Uttarayan/sankrant hai ne.. Matlab.. woh itne saalon bad Uttarayan Amdavad me manane wale hain. Toh.. main unke liye chocolate chikki banane ka soch rahi thi. Ponkh vada bhi bana dungi!"
"Correction, meri jaan! Yeh tumlogon ki pehli nahi, doosri Uttarayan hai!"
The phone nearly slipped from her hand.
"Huh? Pehli nahi doosri?" she frowned deeply.
"Ha! 26 saal pehle jab tumhari pehli Uttarayan thi tab tujhe pata nahi tha ki woh tujhse pyaar karta hai! Aur is bar use pata nahi hai ki tu usse pyaar karti hai!"
"Devika tu kya.. "
"Mujhe kuch mat bol, mujhe sab pata hai! Jab woh nahi bol paya tab uski aankhon me dikhta tha aur ab teri aankhon me dikhta hai!"
"Woh.. main.. batana chahti hoon. Par.. Mukku.." she hesitated.
"Mukku ki nahi, apni baat kar! Mukku ka is baatse koi lena-dena nahi hai! Din ba din Anuj ki mahanta ka level badhta ja raha hai! Aur tu pata nahi kaunse shubh muhurat ki raah dekh rahi hai!"
Devika let out a deep sigh of frustration.
"Hum jab college me the na tab Bunty kehta tha ki Gujaration ko 14th February tak wait karne ki zaroorat hi nahi hai! Unka Valentine's Day ek mahine pehle Uttarayan pe hi aa jata hai! Tu is mauke ka fayda utha aur apne dil ki baat use bata de!"
"Main.. unhe bata dungi. Par pehle tu mujhe bata ne.. 26 saal pehle.. Uttarayan pe kya hua tha?"

P. S. Ponkh is fresh jowar pod from which various dishes are prepared. Undhiyu is a mixed vegetable preparation. Both are seasonal, winter delicacies that are specially eaten during Makar Sankranti.
