*AK Group Offices - Anuj’s Office Sofas*

“KYAAAAAA!?!?!? Bhai! What are you SAYING!”

Anuj hung his head low in front of his gobsmacked sister and Kaka. “Yes… Anu will be shifting back to her place tomorrow”.

“Anuj… Beta” GK kaka reached out and grabbed his son’s shoulder as his heart sank. “Yeh tum kya kehereho…?” He could not believe his ears. He thought that finally their family would be complete! That his children were past the decades of loneliness they had faced. That Anuj was past this no-umeed zone!

Kanhaji is ghadhe ko kab akal ayegi?!

Anuj, taking a deep and dramatic sigh, looked into both their eyes, sadness, covered with a layer of brave acceptance, trying to console them with his facade…

“Yeh to hona hi tha na GK. Mukku, ab tumneh ye baath cherhi hai toh ab ye toh hona tha…” Anuj’s face was a carefully constructed mask of stoicism, showing only flashes of sadness.

GK glared…”Tumne kya kaha Mukku?”

Mukka couldn’t believe her ears, grabbing her insane brother’s arms she proclaimed… “But bhai nooooo! The WHOLE POINT was to make you guys talk! And finally say what you BOTH want to say to each other!“

GK became more animated, “Mukkuu! What did you say mun!”

“Kaka…. Woh…. I just asked Anu when she would be leaving our place” Mukku looked down, crestfallen.

“Mukku!” GK drew himself to his full height in hopes to properly reprimand his overgrown child… “Yeh tumne kyo Kia!”

“Mujhe laga ki it would get them to talk to each other! That it would be a good way for these two to finally say what is in their hearts! Mujhe laga ki mujhe is bahane finally Bhabhi mil jayigi!” Mukku was beyond frustrated. Her plan had NOT gone as expected. Glaring at her idiot brother, she said through gritted teeth, “but ye dono to awkwardness ke dukaan hai!” Flailing her arms, emphasising her frustration.

“Arrey! Mukku, GK, yahi to hona tha na! Wo hamare saath permanently to nahi rai sakti na! Uski family hai! It’s not appropriate. Remember, we decided we wouldn’t her uncomfortable”

“Bhai! Lekin unko raina hai! It’s sooo obvious! Just ask Anupamaa to stay! Permanently!” Mukku insisted.

“Mukkuu baaas!” Anu held his hand out settle his sister!

“Arrey Anuj Beta! Thora to socho! Itne dino ke baad, ghar main aisi khushia ai hain. Tum kitne sukhi ho. Mukku kitni settled hai. In bhoohre haatho ke saath bhi koi hain jo mere baccho ka dhyaan rakti hai…Aur ab…” Despite his frustration, GK tried to reason with Anuj.

“Arrey Mummy! Aap teenager hain! Bhoorhe kabse hue!” Anuj said, lightly punching GK’s shoulder in great affection!

“Par KYUUU! Aur Kyu itni jaldi! Why Tomorrow?!” Mukku really could not understand how her genius plan had failed so miserably…

“Arreyyyy, ek hafte ke baad Anu ko apne dance academy ke baccho ko state championships ke liye leke jaana hai. Uski bhi preparations hai. And I also have to leave for some work out of town, check in on some long-term projects and investments of AK Industries. Toh best hai ki hum Anupamaa ko aur tang na kare aur usko apni life ki doosri responsibilities pe bhi focus karne dain! Humare Restaurant ke kaam ko ab time and light supervision lagega for the next few weeks so it’s only fair. Usne itna Sabkuch hamare liye hai. Usse aur tang nahi karna chahiye”

“Bhai! Aap itne understanding bhi hoke kuch samajhte hi nahi ho!” Mukku frowned at her brother.

“Par tune ye baath shuru kyo ki Mukku… tumhe pata hai na kitni mushkil say ye situation bani thi…”

“Par GK mujhe kya pata…”

Anuj watched his two beloved family members bicker and occasionally glare at him over how to solve this seemingly unacceptable set of events... Anuj concealed his smile, as he enjoyed their conversation - his eyes darting from one to the other, as they volleyed in exasperation.

Sorry Mukku… tumhe toh thanks bolna chahiye leki nahi bol sakta. Sorry GK… aapko poora such nahi bataiya.

Well he hadn’t exactly lied either. He’d just neglected to mention the major change that had occurred in his life over the last 24 hours. How Anu had changed his life…

His eyes clouding over with the precious memories of what had happened thanks to the precise events Mukku was now defending to GK, he smiled.

***Flashback***

Pulling Anu back to the sofa to sit, pulling his chair up to hers, as close as possible, thighs touching, he held her hands and gazed into her eyes.

“Accha Anu… meri bhi ek request hai. Agar tumne ye decide kiya hai ki tum ab apne ghar jaogi, toh phir I suggest that Hum abhi humare baare mai kisi ko kuch bhi nahi batain”.

Slightly tensing at the idea of hiding something from her “near and dear ones”, Anu flicked her chin up and crinkled her eyebrows as to ask “why?!”

“Well Anupamaa… tumne hi toh kaha tha na ki you want to enjoy some time just the two of us…”

“Par Anuj… GK, Mukku, Ba, Bappuju, Bacche…unka kya?”

Anuj continued holding her hands in his, gently rubbing the backs of her hands with his thumbs. Fully fogging up her brain.

“Un…Unko na bataana to b..b… bura lagega” she stared at his hands in hers, their proximity, their legs touching - all driving her to distraction.

Was it bad if she just wanted to crawl into his lap right here and now and be held by him…

Slightly tightening his hold, Anuj looked into her eyes “No Anu, isme kuch galat nahi hai. Tumne sahi kaha, humhe tori der sirf hum banke Raina chahiye.” He purposefully began to draw circles with his thumbs, looking piercingly into her eyes. “Tumne sabkeliye api poori zindagi kitna kuch kia hai, thori deer bas apne bare me, humare baare me socho. Please” His sincere eyes piercing her soul.

Anupamaa’s heart leapt, his simple actions causing such a heightened response. She’d be alarmed at his suggestion, if not every part of her mind was too filled with him, and his closeness right now. Flashing her eyes down with embarrassment, she blushed profusely.

Pulling her hands up to his face, he kissed ther knuckles, mirroring her kajoloring actions. As Anupamaa looked on, mesmerised, he continued “aur socho Anu, kitna mazaa aayega. Chip chip ke milna, secret main waqt bitaana. Woh bhi toh hamaari love story ka ek part ban sakta hai na?”

Anupamaa’s heart started racing at the thought, Anuj, him, them, all to her self. Just for a while.

Was it really possible?

Anuj went on, a mysterious smile on his face, “and just think! Itne time se, GK, Mukku, Devika, in sab ne humko kitna chidaya. Sataya. Well… mostly me. Toh ab thora unko hum bhi tang kar sake hai na?”.

Anupamaa let out a laugh. How can this man go from flirtatious to cute, totally unholy to adorable, in seconds! “Aap bacche hain kya Anuj!” She chided jokingly. He only grinned back at her. Shamelessly. Adorable idiot.

Suddenly he got serious again, moving his head closer to her and pulling her hands to bring her whole torso to him till they were only centimetres apart once more.

Oh her poor heart!

“Let me woo you Anu. Completely”. His intensity overwhelming her. Completely.

She was a goner!

Spurred by her silence, hoping to dissuade any doubts, his tone shifting again to sincerity and care, “and don’t worry Anu. Hum dheere hi aage badenge. I will never do anything that makes you uncomfortable, no matter how our relationship evolves”.

How could she say no to this man! How?! It was impossible. He was everything she could even dream of, and so much more!

Looking down and Smiling softly, she nodded. “Theekche. Abhi ke liye. Sirf hum”.

Breaking out into a wide smile, he kissed her hands once more.

*Flashback ended*.

Ok so I wrote a monster sized chapter which I’ve decided to split into two. This is the first of that. Second will be out tomorrowwwww!
