Sreemoyee (the original Bengali version of Anupamaa) wraps up today

After a run of 834 episodes, Sreemoyee (10th June 19 - 19th Dec 21) ended today.

The last track was that Rohit (Anuj) succumbed to his cancer and was given a heartfelt farewell.

After his rites, Sreemoyee donates all of Rohit's wealth to a cancer trust so that it can help others like him. Below are how some of the subplots were tied up,

• Aniruddh (Paritosh) and Ankita (Kinjal) have reconciled and he is talked about that he will return and they will settle down in a seperate flat.
• Pratyush (Samar) and Arna (Nandini) are implied to be moving to Mumbai for his singing career.
• Dithi (Pakhi) will continue her doctor practice and live with her husband and family in their village.
• June (Kavya) is shown to have a change of heart and tells Anindo (Vanraj) that she will no longer be stubborn and is willing to let him go if he wants to divorce her.
• Anindo (Vanraj) continues to live with his parents at their old home along with a long lost brother who is also terminally ill and has returned with his wife and daughter to be with his parents in his last days.
  

Sreemoyee later leaves the place leaving a note for Pratyush that she is leaving for an old age home in an undisclosed location because she doesn't want them to follow her and bring her back. She cannot handle living in Rohit's apartment without him and asks Mithu (Jhilmil) to stay behind with Rohit's old aunt in his flat. She requests Aniruddh, Ankita and Dithi to use their medical knowledge to help the needy and Pratyush to take good care of Arna. She also asks them to take care of Anindo as he is old and weak now and not let June leave as she is was a bad person only because she was insecure about Sreemoyee and now she has no one to fight with anymore.

Lastly she says that she has had enough of living for everyone and wants to now have time of her own so they should not get paranoid looking for her and that she will stay in touch and occasionally come back for Arindam (Hasmukh) to check on his health.

The show ends with Sreemoyee travelling to a rural location, apparently where the oldage home is situated.

If the show was ending, why did they have to kill Rohit? Why couldn't they have shown Rohit and Sreemoye living happily together maybe in Rohit's london flat.. such a horrible ending.. The writer seems like a sadist to give such a sad ending to a woman who suffered for 25 yrs.. to find love again in middle age and then kill that partner to be left alone for the rest of her life. Just horrible 👎🏼😡

I just sincerely hope that Anupama makers do not copy sreemoye here. This would be such a terrible and unfair ending to Anupama and Anuj.

I agree that the end was rushed and half-baked but I really loved the last part where she doesn't go back to her old family after Rohit. She had grown out of her need for emotional dependence on them and wanted to be left alone to process her grief.

Rohit's destiny was to find true love which he did but Sreemoyee's destiny was to find her own identity. Also, Rohit always concentrated less on spending time with Sreemoyee and more about getting her to progress as a singer and a businesswoman.

The idea was great but not executed well, mainly because the show had run out of interesting plot lines. They had also started the track of Anindo's brother's illness and his wife's rivalry with June, as well as Dithi facing jealousy of her widowed sister-in-law but cut it short.

this just made my stomach turn. 🤢🤢🤢

i will be devasted if Anuj dies. DEVASTED.

anyways, i did the match and i guess that means we have a 1 year and 3 months left of the show...just thinking that a day will come when we wont see Anuj on TV makes me feel anxious. 😭

I find Rohit and Anuj different personality wise. Rohit seems calm but Anuj seems junooni type for Anu😆Like how he said ek baar kisi ne Anupama ko college mein cheda tha so he beat that guy. And in Sreemoyee Rohit and Sreemoyee scenes are not filmy like here in Anupama . Here MaAn seems that they will soon move in Live-In relation type. Both will live in Anuj house before marriage only☺️

Ofcourse it will differ.

Many plot points in Sreemoyee (even some good ones) were not replicated in Anupamaa. And Anupamaa had some tracks which were not in the original. Hence Anupamaa could always end differently.

Plus I don't mind a lead dying in a show in the end but it should be put in some direction like giving a message or proving a point and Rohit's death did neither here. It looked like a very rushed attempt.

The makers tried to shift focus from him with his kidnapping track but ratings fell drastically and because Tota Roy Choudhury could no longer return to this show full-time, he returned for a few episodes and the show wrapped up with him.

But I frankly liked Sreemoyee leaving the place to lead a new life only for herself, after being tired for repeatedly sacrificing for the people she is now leaving behind

Also all I want is that whichever note Anupamaa may end on, it should not drag itself like Sreemoyee and lose its charm but should wrap up when a logical conclusion can be reached

I feel like Rohit Anuj Kapadia is also Jaan of this show now. Agar wo gaya to TRP will fell drastically. Many audience now are not interested in Shahs including me. I am more interested in Anuj past and his story with Anupama.

I feel bengali. Serial two year se jyaada banye nahin jaate. I have watch kulfi kumar baje wala and it was remake of pontol kumar baje wala aur woh ponto serial mein 2 year mein end ho gaya aur uska remake kulfi kumar bhi 1 and half year mein end ho gaya

yeah true...i guess im just thinking of other actors in the past who got bitten by the bollywood bug and left halfway...but the time they try to come back, everyone has already moved on to the next flavor of the month...plus i read somewhere that gaurav doesnt like to play characters for very long....
