I think if Baa had spit on anyone else’s self-respect and character, Anu would have absorbed it and understood it as Leela’s narrow-mindedness blinded her. Maybe also swallowed it by assuaging the hurt with “kahin na kahin yeh unki pyaar hai.”

Finally, Baa took punga with someone of equal status who doesn’t need to bend down to her due to rishta, age or whatever. Instead, the man who suppressed his own tendency to give gyaan, so his wife could feel satisfied holding her head up high with false pride, was horrendously maligned. Even if she had issues with certain things, she didn’t recognize location, timing or audience. I can’t even say him telling her with snapping fingers to go was enough for her to act this way.

leela weighs every relationship, she lauds a son who domineered over his wife, she idolizes her son purely because he is her male vaansh (she begot a prize of a male first born) but it’s all a one sided story. These very qualities that make her beta pyaara, only an ounce or less if it from Hasmukh, is enough to turn her head?! I don’t believe. If she couldn’t handle some elderly crankiness then she wouldn’t have been able to breathe or even live with a husband like Vanraj. Har din, even in budhapa mein, she would curse her fortune.

As for Anu’s godlike worship - I think she felt truly accepted abs respected by Babuji and just worked extra hard to get a favorable eye from Baa. She lost herself in being too giving and too desiring of love. Before the change of winds - only Babuji, Samar and maybe Jhilmil loved her.

s/n: just randomly, I get why people are saying why isn’t Babuji with Dolly BUT tbh, with the traditional family they are — I don’t see him staying at dolly’s. She’s has in-laws (although I don’t think she lives with them) and he would feel like a burden to her .. maybe not too worried what his daughter and Sanjay would say but more worried about what her In-laws would say to Dolly. Anupama is more like the unmarried daughter who he’s gotten to spend a majority of his elder years with. &&yes, it’s odd that Anu’s real family isn’t too involved in her life. Could be a casting availability and storyline thing

Dolly in laws don't live with her I guess coz baa said meenu apne dada dadi ke pass gayi hai .

Dolly can easily take bapuji to her home sanjay will not object but bapuji Anu ka peecha kabhi nhi chhodenge ge .

Point but honestly - Babuji and Dolly don’t seem close close. At the end of the day, she’s married and they have their own routine whereas Babuji not only has grown into old age with Anupama but they can probably easily read each other’s mind. Babuji has made an error by keeping quiet and then tying Anu to shah house after divorce but he has a dil-ka-rishta with Anu. I’m seeing the dynamics with this view: cast availability is limited so storyline will get adjusted, and after 26 yrs .. true bonds don’t break. Relationships get messy and it’s hard for a change to happen or be accepted. I don’t see Babuji divorcing leela but I don’t see him happy in Vanraj’s home at all.

Edit: it’s ironic but the house that Vanraj “built from age 14” is now shaken and broken majorly by his decisions and actions

on another side note: Babuji started supporting Anu more openly that I wonder if this storyline will show her returning the favor. Like “failures or losers in your eyes but don’t count us down&out” 😅

Having seen Anupama now for 400+ episodes, it would only take some whining and a couple of crocodile tears from Leela Sah for Anupama's resolve to crumble.

I hope Anupama will stick to her resolution of not forgiving Baa ever for hurting her Baapuji.

I also think on some subconscious level she was affected by Anuj's words when she heard his outburst at the Shahs, where he questioned if they were worthy of her care and devotion. It's time sh started asking herself that ND looks like today was the first step.

Bapuji is totally broken and so is Anupama to see him like that.

Very emotional, get your tissues ready, it was indeed a beautiful and meaningful episode...addressed many heart touching issues and was full of sentiment, not overdone, with just the right amount of bhashan which obviously is a given with Anupama...but honestly I did not skip anything!

Baa ne mera dil dhukaya hai aaj tak par aaj pehli baar mujhe un par ghussa aya hai...oh finally thank the LORD for granting this bakri some sense to stop her Baa baaing, I still wont celebrate just yet, you see Anu’s undying flipping love for Baa has given me trust issues in the past.

Just as Anupama did not bend to the pleas of Leela to ignore the EMA the way she turned down Vanrajs request to let things be as she could not accept the years of deceit.

The two Leela and Baapuji are chalk and cheese are looked up with same respect due to the respect for Leela reflected in Baapuji and Ladla's eyes.

by dis respecting and shattering her Baapuji Leena has irrevocably fallen.If they dwell on Baapujis angst we can be sure Anupama will not go back to her BB mode.

May be Devi Anupama needs such strong abusive actions from the kind of people who she misses badly like Baa and Thoshu. Even after she learnt Vanraj EMA, and she got divorcee, she sill accepted friendship . It took her repeated character assasination from V to finally take her decision to move away from that house. Thoshu and Baa were also constantly critisising and commenting on her . But still she missed them on the housewarming day. Such a harsh and venomous character asssination from Thoshu, made her say he is not her son anymore. So it's now the turn of Baa , where Devi Anupama's obsessive love has to shatter. Any amount of abuse by Baa on her will not make her go away from her. on the other hand she is inviting more of such abuse. Any amount of abuse on Anuj is making Anupama only speak back and protect him but not making her leave Baa. So now with the insults hurled on Bapuji, atlast our Mahadevi realised Baa is not a person deserve respect and regards.

So finally I hope Mahadevi Anupama will stick to her words as you have said in your post.

What is truly the cause of Baa’s meltdown?

She was never abused during her marriage , husband never cheated on her, has a filial son and (up to a certain time) daughter and grandkids that respect her. She is still the head of the family as babuji nor Vanraj never interfered or went against her.

Whether it was in the 1970s or 2000s, most newly married couples or those with young kids do have to adjust/manage their budget- it’s part and parcel of any couple’s married/family live.

As we grow old together, we work hard, progress in our careers and our family’s lifestyle improves - albeit some families more than the rest.

The RIGHT to choose her own DIL which was taken away from her simply cannot be the sole reason for this mindless rant. Since Anu was never her choice then why burn all the relationships for the sake of a ‘free maid’ who broke her ties with the family
