He treated Anupama like that because he never wanted Anupama as his, wife, he never found Anupama attractive in any manner so he never loved her, in fact that was his way of protesting against the marriage for him Anupama was just someone to take care of his family and children, he never considered her his wife. However for Kavya he actually claimed to love her to actually go and have an affair with her and Kavya is not like Anupama who take any shit from her in laws especially Baa.

The Vanraj Kavya fell for was the one that loved her and would have been ready to do anything for her sake and irs not like Vanraj didn't know who or what Kavya was when he openly cheated on Anupama with her. So he shouldn't expect her to turn into a cow that just slogs around all day and at the same time take shit from others. And no she was against this even before marriage, infact she was the one who spoke against first when she first asked Anupama to take up the cooking classes job at school. She never liked it before and doesn't like it now either.

I don't think the point is what Kavya was or was not against. If she truly loves Vanraj she ought to know him well too. He never went out of his way for Kavya for anything....so no he would not do anything for her sake. He claimed to have loved Kavya but that does not change his inherent nature. Vanraj is a man with huge ego and Kavya chose to make him her life partner. Contrary to the point that you made that he should not expect her to be a cow....the truth is its Kavya who should not expect Vanraj to be one. He didn't change for Anupama and he won't change for Kavya too

I think leaving the house and moving in with Kavya was the first step to it Ofcourse that didn't work out. Ditching his family and celebrating Kavya’s birthday, is going out of the way for her from the way I see it.

If he can't change for kavya then he shouldn't expect Kavya to change either just for his sake.
